Thank you for the great comments, guys!

Bish, I will most likely be entering your next Star Wars GB. Although, I've made myself a rule to only enter one GB at a time form now on! LOL!

When you have time, can you upload a new group badge for this GB?

Thanks!

Here is my second entry, the AMT TIE Fighters. It has 2 TIE's and a section of Death Star for a display base.

So i started with the pits, putting the few pieces together and painting.

And added some painted detail to the side panels.

With the pilots painted, the cockpit's were completed.

These were then fitted into the pods which were put together and masked off.

These have now been primed and the solar panels were painted. So i am now in the process of msking those off. But its just taken best part of 90mins to do both sides of one wing, so might take a couple of days.

So thats all for now.

Looks cool Bish. I built the AMT TiE Intercepter way back in the day but never the older model. I remember it being a decent if not overly complex kit.

Bruce, nice job on the TIE. A lot better than my attempt.

Bish, good start on your TIEs. I had to take a good look at the cockpit pieces, they are the same parts for my TIE Defender. I guess I now know what they used for the masters.

Cheers guys.

Bruce, there is no scale given on the kit, but according to Starwarsmodels, its 1/51st.

Nuc, is that kit any good. From what i read on that same site, the TIE was the old MPC kit and was released before this TIE fighter one.

PB, i agree, i think its going to make a nice display.

Bob, goes together nicely, no filler needed so far and some nice detail.

Good to know the fit is good Bish.  Maybe I'll build mine for next Star Wars GB, I'll have to see what calls out to me then.

Only a small update for now, bench time has been at a premium since school started back up this week.  I've finished the cockpit except for the coaming panel.  I'm going to save that until after I'm done painting and weathering.  I found a few gaps on the wing to take care of and then I should be able to put it all together and start painting.

Thanks guys! I noticed a problem area with the wing so I had to fix that. Next I'll glue them closed and take care of the weird peg thing they put into it. I'll include before and after pics so you know what I'm talking about if you're not familiar.

Thanks Bruce! I can tell where I made my major mistakes with it so that I can do better the next time. I still have one more of these AMT kits sitting in the stash. I built one about 8 years ago with an aftermarket resin cockpit that I found somewhere but it's long been OOP and I've had no luck with searching eBay or anywhere else to find another like it.

Time to wrap up the TIE's. I tried black baseing again but failed miserably. I just can't hget the hang of it. O well, think i'll stick to post shading.

I used Xtracolor LIght Grey but their is a lighter shade than the one Bruce used.

I then painted in all the details and post shaded with some flory washes.

This was quite a nice quick build. Not to many part, no issues with fit and makes for a nice display.

I wouldn't worry about the black basing Bish (nice alliteration there) what you've got looks perfect. Great job, looks just like the movie!

Thanks guys.

G, no, i am not to bothered about it, just wanted to give it a go. Seems i am a bit to heavy handed laying down my paint for that.

Bob, ye, it was quite a quick one, would make a nice weekend build. Only took this long becxause i was doing 3 small builds at once.

OK, two TIEs has me geeking out, Bish! Doesn't matter if pre-shading didn't come out like you wanted--awesomely done. Will need to steal for my shelves. :-)

I really like the large display base--nicely understated DS surface. Did base come with kit? Bandai could take some cues from it.

Thanks PB. Ye, the base came with it. I like that and was really pleased with how that came out. It also had a plastic name plate but i replaced that.
