The only change I may want to make would be to remove those tall grass shoots, and maybe feplace them with forest ferns....other than that, I am very happy with this build.  I used a youtube video as reference from"Juho making stuff".  He was building the Bandai version of the Speeder bike, and that one would appear to be parsecs ahead of this old MPC version.....

That tie fighter  (and the y wing!) Look fantastic!  I may have to pick up a copy of them!

Ias for the Speeder bike....I got it all weathered and flat coated, the scout trooper is glued on, and finished the base up with a MIG wash to darken the soil a bit.  I will have pics later this weekend....I can't wait to show it off! Lol

Those FM kits are a bit pricey at the moment, but they can be picked up on E-Bay.

Look forward to those pics.

Great job on that PB. I like the shade of grey you used,  and the weathering is realy well done. These are indeed very nice kits, going to have to get to a few more of mine soon. Got you added to the front page, glad to have it there.

I'll add the snowspeeder to the front page, it is 1/48th isn't it. I will be loking forward to seeing that one, got it saved in my E-bay watch list for a future purchase.

The Defender is coming on well Stephan, thats going to look really impressive.

Thanks, guys! Glad you like it. Propeller

Gamera, I did use a wash--some MIG pigments and artist's oils. I'm still trying to work on my technique...getting a good wash is trickier than it looks. Surprise

Defender is coming along nicely, NMT.

PB: Whoa, awesome job there! Love her!

BTW did you use a sludge wash on the details?

Stephan: Great job there on the TIE Defender too.

PB, that came out great! Your painting really picks out the detail. Watch out for the TIE killer Y-wing, lol.

Got a little work done on the Defender, basically just a white base coat.

Still trying to figure out base colors and such. Once I can make a decision it should not be that much to finish it up.

OK, calling it done. :-)

Fun little kit to do, no issues other than I'm not used to working in 1/72.

Next up...think I'll do the Bandai Snowspeeder before tackling the SD. Speeder will be fun to weather.

Thanks for looking!

Yep, looking forward to some pics of your build, BL.

Almost done with the TIE. Just have to give the fuselage a flat coat, gloss coat to the stand, and then attach the "windscreen."

I just started working on my T-70 X-Wing. Currently I'm just cleaning up some of the parts for priming. One thing of note is that it's pre-painted, and there are some spots in the paint that are ugly (bubbles, smudges, too thick/thin, etc.)! So I have to clean up the ugly spots. I wish they made this kit without paint, it would probably be cheaper and a bit less work!

Porkbits

Speederbike looks awesome, Justin. Propeller I suppose you could add miniature fern or two to the base, but def looks good the way it is.

And my son just competed in local Pinewood Derby a couple of weeks ago. It was his/our first so he didn't place, but....learning curve! We'll get 'em next year. :-)

Last year was our first derby, and he averaged fifth place in all his heats, but he won best in show with his car!

This year he wants to go faster....

Here is a mock up...all that is left is to finish the detail painting of the bike, and to make some ferns for the base...

The problem with adding an AT-ST footprint would be scale.  It would probably take up most of the base.  There is a log and "branches" in there from my peach tree in my backyard.  It's funny, because in order to make my real log look real, I had to paint it....

Looks good Justin! Yes

Not sure how you could work a tree in the base but maybe some twigs, a log, or a bunch of fallen leaves?

Guess it's too late for it now but I'd be tempted to add an AT-ST footprint with a roadkill Ewok in the bottom of it... Wink

Guys, those TIE fighters are looking freat, I may just have to build one of those later this year!  I can't wait to see them finished!  ....and that U Wing...that's cool!

I've been busy with the cub scouts, as we have the pinewood derby coming up, and I've been building a car, helping my son with his, and offering my bandsaw and skills to the Pack, to help those kids that don't have access to a bandsaw ....but, I finally got some time, and started focusing on the base, and weathering the scout trooper.

I'm going to be adding some muddy puddles, and I want to make some ferns to give it that "edge of the forest look.  I played with the idea of adding a "redwood " tree, but overall, I wasnt pleased with how it came out...so any ideas would be entertained!

Stephen: She's coming right along. No idea on what colour to paint the solar panels. Maybe go with one of the those with a black sludge wash to settle down into the recesses?

BL: Very cool. I've seen some not that good reviews of those kits and am looking forward to seeing how you build and paint her up.

Thanks, NMT! And your TIE is coming along nicely. As for panel color, I agree with Bish--top one or maybe the second.

BL, looking forward to your T-70 build, too. I need a T-70 in my stash at some point.

Badlanguage, it is a Bluemoon kit. I got mine from starship models for about $60 US. you have to be patient and keep an eye out, but it is better than paying ebay prices ($150+).

Looking forward to your build, I have the same kit sitting on the shelf. I finished the force awakens TIE from Revell for the same group build.

NucMedTec, I love that TIE Defender! Who does that kit? Looking nice!

Now that my personal chaos in the model ina month group build is over I can start in on my T-70. On a more leisurely pace, of course. Anyway, here's the box (though you've probably all seen it before):

And here are the parts.

The detail isn't too bad. I'm thinking I'll just build it straight out of box, but I'll be repainting it.

Aha, thanks Gamera. I am about to make just that. TIE Oreo? :-)

Bish - Thanks! Yeah, the panel assembly is pretty nifty. I also love it when parts are engineered so that sink marks are hidden during assembly. That's value-add.

Next up, a light panel line wash then painting and glueing a few more tiny bits.
