Thanks, Gamera. I'll try to squeeze it in. :-)

Well, started the TIE! Doing nothing fancy with this kit, just straight OOB--something small, manageable, relaxing, and fun to build (which is what I need in my life right now):

Cheers,

I'm a little surprised we haven't seen one yet, I'm certain they'll be a garage kit if nothing else.

Porkbits

Thanks for the info, Bish. The Fine Molds TIE is such a small kit it *shouldn't* take me too long to do, but will see. The Star Destroyer doen't have many parts so assembly should be quick, but I might need a car-grade airbrush to paint it. :-)

Last Jedi, I like it. Obviously refers to Luke.

Its ben a while since i built the TIE Interceptor, i don't recall it taking to long. And from what i have sen of that SD, a bucket to hold the paint in. Hope you have stocked up.

Hey guys, not sure if you saw it or not but they just announced the title of Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.

Hadn't heard that, thanks Bob. I imagine we will be getting the first teasers soon.

Thanks PB.

And keep in mind there will be another SW GB to lead up to Ep IX. Last time i checked thats due for release in May 19. So there will only be a few months gap between the end of this one and the star of that GB.

Bish - Fantastic looking shuttle! That thing's a beast.

Gamera - Nice lighting on the A-wing. Looking forward to seeing that finished. I want to light the Zvezda SD but have no experience, so I'm a little hesitant to try.

Justin - Your speeder bike is coming along great. I built one about ten years ago (right after getting back into the hobby). Not a state-of-the-art kit (especially the poor seam-ridden stormtrooper), but can be built up nicely.

I ordered the 1/48 Bandai snowspeeder from Evil Bay today, so I guess add it to my list, Bish....? Three ships is probably too optimtistic considering how slowly I build, but... the speeder is one of those iconic Rebel ships you kinda have to have in your collection, right?

So, while I wait for the primer to cure on the bike and scout, I figured I would start on the base.  I am using a slice of walnut tree that my mom found in a closet.   It is about two to three inches thick, but very dry, (it must have been in that closet for a looooonnnng time).  I'm starting with celluclay,  and some plaster rocks.

@Bish,

The weathering on your shuttle is spot on! I really like how it looks! However, I'm sure the Dark Lord is none to pleased! "I find your lack of cleaning skills, disturbing"! Great finish to this build!

@Justin,

Great idea with moving the troopers head. Very subtle, but very affective. Hey, the first rule of motorcycling is look where you want to go!

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Justin, god call on the figure. I have seen some really major modificatiosn of the trooper, but a light turn of the head will make a good difference.

Bish: Really nice work there! Love how she came out. Yes

Bob: Thanks!

Justin: Cool, I've noticed that turning the head of a figure even just a little can make them seem less stiff.

Thanks, all for the words of encouragement!   I made a small adjustment to the scout trooper to make it appear a bit less static, but alas, I forgot to take a few photos!  I cut his head off, and turned it slightly...it's amazing how much less static it appears now!

I sprayed primer on the bike this evening, so paint is coming soon!

Bish....that shuttle looks awesome!  Great work!

Nice finish on the shuttle Bish! It's really impressive with Vader there for scale. The wash really gives it that "lived in" look that Lucas was going for in the original. As for the speeder, I've been thinking about looking into replacing with some kind of positionable clear acrylic stand but so far the price is putting me off on doing that. Gamera, the lights look really nice in the engines. I've never had the guts to start cutting up a kit to light it. Maybe some day.

Hey Justin, that's some really nice work there. I remember those kits being a little rough and you're doing a great job on it so far.

I am calling the shuttle done. After the re-paint, i added some flry wash and then went over that with a thinner coat of the base colour to give a bit of a grubby finish. Some of the panels were done in a slightly differant shade of greay then the whole thing was finished with a couple of coats of Alclad Light Sheen. This has brought out some of the colours and i really like the look.

I also removed the canopy and sanded down the front edge. It was sticking up quite a bit. Its still not perfect but better than it was.

The last thing was to finish off Darth himself, and the figure really shows how big the shuttle is, even thoguh darth would have to duck to get under the front.

So here she is.

Rather pleased with how this turned out and glad to have another kit done thats been proper up the stash for longer than i care to remember.

Bob, thats stand is a nightmare, mine has broken i don't know how many times over the years. I should have replaced it really, but instead it sits at a funy angle which puts the whole thing off balance.

Your speeder bike looks really nice so far, can't wait to see some paint on it. I built one a few years ago but it fell of the shelf with everything during what I call "the great crash." The speeder itself can be repaired quite easily, but I haven't yet had the motivation to strip the paint off the trooper to fix all the seams. The stand also broke right where it connects to the speeder so I will need to to drill it out and add a metal rod to it. I'll get around to it someday.

Bruce, ye, that speeder is a pretty decent size. Thats one of the things i like about the MPC/AMT kits. they might not be the best detailed, but they are all a good size.

Justin,

Fantastic progress on the speeder bike! I did not realize it has some nice size to it. I'm looking forward to seeing some paint on it. You're giving me the itch to go get one! Lol

And thank you for the compliment on the TIE fighter!

I'm really going to have to step up my game with the painting and base work for this thing to even come close to touching those lit up engines and the detail in that tie fighter that the photoetch adds!!!

I have finished the preliminary construction of the Speeder bike this morning!  Now, I didn't go super crazy eliminating every seam on this thing, just the visible ones...there's no sense in wasting the limited time I have to build sanding and filling stuff that will never be seen...

Assembly-wise, I only have to install the blast gates on the thrusters, but I will wait on that until I can get some painting finished on the engines.
