Thanks! :-)
Aha, nice....sounds like your brother is definitely fishing around. Hope you get a good Bandai kit or two. Would make an awesome Xmas present.
Looking forward to more X-Wing pics.
Bish:
Archive X paints arrived from over the pond today! Pretty quick considering they shipped on November 11th (I live in Northeast US).
I hope to use them before the end of the year, but will see....
PB
Thats not bad, 10 days. They look a good size, still expensive, but i guess thats expected.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
No work, no school, lazy day, so took advantage of time off to make more progress. Painted and detailed the cockpit, then assembled the head, and then I'll paint it next.
Not sure how I'm going to approach weathering, but my general plan is to keep it light (vs. my usual heavy stuff).
Hope everyone is well!
I do like that PB. Theres some great detail in that cockpit, and you have brought the best out of it. That does deserve to be shown off.
On my bench: Academy 1/35 UH-60L Black Hawk
Thanks, guys!
Yeah, too bad none of the detail can be seen when it's built up. Ah, well.
So here's where I'm at. I did a wash with a mix of black and burnt umber acrylic craft paint and sealed it with Testor's dull coat. Just a little bit more to do on the fighter then I'll move on to the figures and scratchbuilding a tool cart and working on the base. I'm entering cruch time to get this done by the time The Last Jedi comes out next month.
Great weathering! I like the blue/yellow scheme. So you're doing a on-the-tarmac type diorama? (sorry if you've mentioned this previously)
PB, whats the fit like of the top of the pit. I am woundering if that can be left un glued so it can be lifted off.
Bob, loking great there, very nice job on the weathering.
Bish PB, whats the fit like of the top of the pit. I am woundering if that can be left un glued so it can be lifted off.
I thought of that....hm. It's not really intended to pop on and off (as far as I can tell), but like any Bandi kit, the fit is such that you could take it off without too much trouble.
Generally speaking, Bandai's kit engineering is so good that in some ways, building one is more like assembling a Lego kit than a traditional model.
After seeing the inside of yours, thats certainly somthing i might consider. I recall a hatzer build, i think it was Karl Logans, where he had a little stand he could put the roof on if needed to see the inside. Just sems a nice idea if your taking it to a show or club or just want to show it off.
That's cool. Definitely want to see the final product. :-) I really liked the blue X-Wings in Rogue.
And sadly, Bish, I'm not part of any clubs and haven't done any shows, so at most, the only other people who might see the cockpit are my wife and kids. But I do like the idea of the stand.
Hey PB, keep forgetting to tell you but those paints look really cool. And fantastic work on the interior of the walker!
Bob: That X-Wing looks terrific, love how she's coming.

Thanks!
OK, I lied...maybe a little bit of heavy weathering? Sorry, I just can't seem to help myself with these Bandai kits.
So still making progress--not sure where I'll end up but here's where I'm at. Just kind going where my imagination takes me.
No problem with that PB, i am likeing that a lot.
Thanks, Bish.
Looks awesome PB!
Now she just needs another leg, I'm having visions of the AT-ST jumping across the landscape pogo style
Lol, thanks, guys!
Yeah, the pogo look was just for the beauty shot--haven't assembled any of the main bits yet.
Just a quick reminder guys. The GB officially ends on Fri. But of course, as always, please feel free to carry on posting your builds.
I am sure we all have our tickets ready and are looking forward to the next installment, as well as seeing what new subjects we might hope to see turned into models.
I'm plugging away, and my goal is to finish by Friday, but we'll see.
I just have a few things to do on the X-Wing I've been looking at doing the other parts of the diorama. I astromech units that come in the AMT kit aren't that great. I wanted a couple other kinds of droids that I would have to scratch-build and my spares box was failing me. So I did some searching online and ordered a few from Shapeways.
I thought the head of the treadwell droid could use some work. Here's what I started with:
And here's where I am now:
I'm thinking about adding some things onto the ends of the arms, but it might be more trouble than it's worth for the scale. I also modified one of the figures from Monogram's 1/48 F-4C kit to be General Merrick. I even found a head with a mustach, even if you can't tell from this picture and my horrible teenage painting skills. I still have a bit of work to do on his helmet though.
Those droids look really nice. Am i correct in thinking they are 3D printed. I was looking at their site the otehr day, some interesting stuff on there. They are based here in the UK is that right. How did you find them to del with?
Can't believe GB is almost over already! Thanks for hosting again, Bish. I'm going to try to finish AT-ST before Friday (getting close), but will probably have to extend a bit. Got my TLJ tickets in mid-October, so I'm ready! Going on Saturday night.
And those droids are really cool, Bob. Merrick looks good, despite your self-avowed teenage painting skills. :-)
Bish, I've used Shapeways a couple of times to order bits for Zvezda SD (Tantive and replacement towers and engine bells) and haven't had any problems. Might have to get some of those droids, too. Hm.
I know, time has flown by. But no problem extending, keep posting as long as you like.
I have been looking at some of their 350 scale pieces for my Revell Bismarck. Some nice stuff on there and after seing those droids, i'll have to grab some pieces.
Thanks, Bish!
