Cool, one of the guys in our club collects 1/6th figures. I was really impressed with the detail when I got a chance to look at them close-up. 

Thanks Gamera.  Forgot to mention that I used my Blue Box 1/6 scale IJN pilot figure as a color guide. This figure is just super detailed down to the strap labels. It came out about 12 years ago and long OOP. They go for a pretty penny on ebay.

I finally received the pe AA sights and was able to complete my entry. I added the Eduard Akagi deck and two figures from my Tamiya Zero kit.

Even though the Eduard description says it's an Akagi deck, it can be modeled as the Kaga's aft deck. Akagi had a solid white stripe running down the the center of the aft elevator, Kaga had a striped line.

Preliminary deck colors on.

Final washes and striping done. I will eventually make a wood frame for the base but that will be sometime in February.

Here's the completed Val, Kaga deck and the two lads.

The aerial wire is EZ Line with two small drops pf Aleene's for the insulators. Both goggles received a tiny drop of Clear Parts Cement for their lenses.

With red leading edges and fuselage band painted.

Masked for the splinter camo RLM 71.

Reinstated the preshading for the RLM 71.

Sprayed RLM 71.

Removed the masks.

Next up I will mask to spray the RLM 65 Fuselage sides and underneath.

I've started the painting sequence for my Japanese 109.

Primed with Mr Surface 2000, except for the canopy.

Preshading, I used tyre black as I was also spraying the tyres at the same time.

Now a coat of Gunze RLM02 on the top surfaces only.

I think the sequence I'll follow from here is to mask and spray the wing leading edges and fuselage band red, rather than use decals, then mask for RLM 71 Splinter camo, then RLM 65 fuselage sides and undersides. Finally, the fuselage mottle is RLM 71.

If I'd thought about it, I would have sprayed the red first then masked it off. Never mind.

Got the Type 92 7.7mm MG done. I used a new #11 blade to carve the forward and rear grips and trigger housing, and made a trigger from stretched sprue and a trigger guard from sheet brass. The barrel was drilled out and cut off those two telephone poles supossed to be sights and replaced them with stretched sprue. Used a small brass strip to make the drum handle and glued it with CA.

The rear sight uses a ring type and it so happens that I missplaced a pe one i have and can't find it  so Ebay is the place to look. Found a set there so hopefully it will be here soon.

Yeah Gam thats fine mate, that's why I posted them lol yeah, dunno about that rhino either. Part of the induction for the base warned us strongly that if we went for boony stomps to stick to the trails. The then showed us pics of unexploded ordnance (UXO). Sat there saying to myself, not a problem there! Saw some kind of huge metal structure lying against some trees that just didn't belong, so wanted to investigate lol. Yeah I'm in for VII as well, should be ready by then lol.

I've done a bit moer on my Me 109E-7 for part VI. It's the Hasegawa 1/72 kit and I've found it to be quite an ill fitting kit. I built another Hasegawa 109E some years ago and I don't really recall, but it didn't stick in my mind as a poor fitting kit. Maybe the molds have aged badly or I just got a dodgy one. Anyway, it's coming along, hopefully I can rescribe the detail that I've obliterated later today.

A little more work on my Val which is almost done. I went thu my junk box and put together the part that goes behind the pilot's seat.

Got the bombs painted and detailed then attached them with Aleene's.

The plane was weathered with a Flory Wash to show some wear and grime and when dry, several light coats of Testors Flat lacquer were sprayed to kill the glossy Future finisn. The flaps and windscreen were attached with Aleene's. The canopies are ready to be attached tonight. I will be leaving two sections off since the machinegun will be mounted in the ready position. I have seen several period pictures that appears to show these two canopies  completely off.

The kit MG is very poorly detailed and will need lots of scratch work that will be coming up very soon. 

I have an Eduard 1/48 IJN carrier deck section coming from Squadron and will add a couple of figures from my Tamiya Zero to make a small dio depicting the pilot and rear gunner/navigator about to board the Val.

Oh wow Simpilot those are awesome photos!!! Thanks for sharing. I hope you don't mind if I copy them to my hard drive for future reference. In my reference books I think I have more photos of Type 95 and 97s knocked out with Marines and other Allied troops posing with them than photos of them in operational condition...

BTW: I do wonder about the dinosaur and the rhino with the saddle on it and what they have to do with the history of Guam...

Gam I looked on my PB album but cant find what I was looking for, could only go back so far it seems. I took a few pics of some Type 95s while I was staioned on Guam back in 89-90. One had surely been hit by something as it had been burned out and the top halfof the tank was gone. also one that was intact. will see if I can find them and repost.

Interesting subjects and great work abound on this GB really looking forward to seeing them completed.

Where I am, and I've been for over an month. I should be able to finish before the end of the year but I've had a bad case of the modeling blahs and just can't get motivated.

It just bothers the heck out of me that they ignore a paying customer's emails reporting an issue on their end. I was a pretty happy camper till this hapenned and they will not get my $ come renewal time. Post Image seems to work very well and it's free, not having pop up adds and junk being loaded on like PB.
