Glad to see you can resume posting photos, Scott.  I've missed seeing your work.

Another great looking build, Steve.  Virtually flawless.

Do you have a preference for the front-page photo?  I think there are at least a couple of really good possibilities.

Doug - Annoying about the issues your having, but I'm cerain you will over come the problem. Again, you are producing another brilliant build, keep up the great work.

Steve, fantastic job on that Val.  The weathering is superb.

Doug, hope the fix works.  After the engine and pit work that you did (top notch, by the way), it has to be extremely frustrating to be having these issues with the fuselage fit.

Started work on the pit of my Zero.  I think I have a plan to add some of the details the kit is missing.  First time scratching pit details, so we'll see how that comes out.

Thanks Damion, Bish and D. It was a fun little kit.

Stick pointed out elsewhere that the aiming scope needs to be black. No doubt he is correct on that so just a minor fix.

Check, I started the Airfix Zero. As typical I started with the cockpit and engine. I assembled the pit and engine, added some belts, painted, dry-brushed, added a wash and assembled the fuse halfs.

You are a modeling fiend, Steve!  Looking great, as usual.  It's always amazing to witness the speed and quality of your builds.

Thank you Check. You get me a Tamiya 1/32 scale and I won't be so speedy.

Nice start to your Zero Stevk, I built one of these several months ago and had serious problems with both main landing gear legs, the small amount of Tamiya thin cement melted them to nothing. Had to use CA in the end.

Really pushing out these Japanese aircraft Steve, how does this compare to the Hasegawa Zero.

Thanks Damion, I typically use CA although I've gone back to using more traditional styrene glues. Thanks for the heads up. The Zero always seemed to have very weak gear but I guess they worked alright.

Bish, so far it's identical to the Hase kit (I’m a Zero fan and I've built plenty of Hase Zero's). The Arifix has options for gear up and folding wingtips. I will be building the wingtips folded. The panel lines are deep as with all the new Airfix but that never seems to take away from the finished build. I'm interested to see the seam at the wing root. Hase does a nice job with them and would expect Airfix to be about the same.

Thats good to hear. I don't mind the look of the panel lines. Wit a lot of kits they almost vansih under primer and paint and it can be hardto keep a wash in them. So i am looking forwardto trying an Airfix kit next year and seeing how they hold up.

You many want to consider drilling a small bore hole in the both legs Stevf,  and feed still wire as they are that flimsy, the kit itself was good but this area could well have done with a better design.

OK, Little more from me... 

Got the seams all smoothed over, a few will require rescribing and riviting though. Also have the stationary portion of the wing root afixed.

This view shows the repair to the crack. Didn't come out bad at all... It won't be noticable when primed and painted. I dont always prime, but in this case I think it best to do.

Well, like I figured, these folding wings are going to be a horrible fit, so I've got them held in place with some white glue to see what I'm going to be faced with.

Well, there is too much off set and mis alignment in this old kit to fuss with, After priming the seam still looks horrible' I guess I'll do the best I can and permanently glue together.

Sorry to hear your having such issues with your build Doug. You did such great work with the cockpit and engine its a shame the issues with the fuselage and wing have occurred.

I'm sure a satisfactory outcome will present itself and you can put this great build to bed.
