Looking forward to the Vuylcan Bobby. I did some checking and that the Airfix kit re-boxed. makes sense as back in the 80's MPC and Airfix seemed to have re-boxed a few of each others kits. The old MPC Speeder Bike from Star wars was boxed by Airfix.

And good choice doign a Balck Buck aircraft, very appropriate seeing as we are in the middle of the 35th anniversay of the Falklands war. In fact, 3/4 May was when 607 flew her fist mission as lead Aircraft having been the reserve on the first mission, 30th April/1st may and taking over from the lead.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Cheers Bobby, that a good size. I better start making some offerings to the modelling gods and hope they follw their new bomber with a tanker.

Liking the Buc, looks colour loks good, which one did you use. Can't believe they got away with those markings, the pencil pushers would certainly put a stop to that now.

LOL!  I know.  I don't think the US was allowed to do any nose art like that.  Yes, we were jeolous.  LOL!  Especially in Saudi, I was surprised to see it too.

I took your advice and got the Lifecolor Desert Sand (FS 30279).  I think it is a great match!

Now for the Buccaneer!

She has been a fun kit.  A couple of spots were a bit odd and didn't look right, but she turned out to be a nice build.  I hope the decals don't offend.  I bought decals for both the Buccaneer and Victor to do them up as the ones that were in Desert Storm.  I was talking to Bish about this and was telling him that when I was there I actually saw one of the Victors!  I can not remember for the life of me which one, but I do remember the very nice nose art it had.  Whistling  I did not see the Buccaneers at all, but they had some "risque" nose art too.  So I apologies ahead of time if it offends, but it was what was there.

I still have a little finishing weathering to do on her, but she is pretty much finished except for the missles being attached.  Researching the correct color for them now.  So here ya go.  Enjoy!

No apologies needed for the decals, they are in good taste!  Your build is phenomenal.  But my favorite is the really smooth and uniform paint job.

And now for a little extra surprise!

I saw this just sitting in the stash...so lonely there all by itself.  Whistling  I figured...why not get another V Force bomber in on the act!!!  So yep, I'm doing the Vulcan too!  Someone stop me!!!  Stick out tongue  She is a wonderful kit!  No major gaps to be seen in the dry fitting, so I expect good results when I get her together.  Going to do it up as one of the Falkland War birds (#607 are the decals I have now).  Researching the color for the camo too.  Man, having the Vulcan and Victor flying side by side on the ceiling.  Hope I can get some good pics of that!  And before anyone asks...no, I don't have a Valiant...YET!  Devil Whistling.  Enjoy!

Looking good there Toshi, i am really impressed with the details in that kit.

Thanks Bish.  The way Tamiya engineered this kit is amazing.  I too am most impressed with the details in this kit.

Toshi

P.S.  Anyone with a few kits under their belt are able to get this kit looking great!

Hey everyone!  Some really great work in here!  This GB is bringing out some awesome builds!

My apologies for not posting pics more often.  I've been very busy at work, had multiple VA appointments, and had Jury Duty!  I have been doing the builds, just haven't had the time to post pics.

The Victor has been a Royal pain (pun intended).  Huge gaps, lots of sanding.  But as you will see, she has been assembled and gotten a primer coat.  Now I have to figure out where to paint her!  LOL!  She won't fit in my spray booth.  Embarrassed  I did get the "right" paint colors for her, so I'm excited about getting her painted up.  So...with all that said, here are some pics for you to check out.

Your paint job is superb.  It's very smoooth and uniform!

I got the green on the fuse and black on the cowl on the Zero. Spraying acrylics is a serious chore with that old cheap Badger I have for now. I will attempt the grey tonight so I can move on to the chipping, decals and weathering.

The actual plane was pretty beat up so any paint flaws will likely add to the effect. The British painted the roundels and lettering over the beat-up paint so the markings won't be chipped any. It also apperas the tail control surfaces and tail cone were either repainted or a diffternt color. I will probably mask those areas and go over the remaining with a lighter green to show fading, That is probably what it is since there are not any color phots of the tail that I can find. I will keep looking though (BI 05 in the background)

I'm always trying to reproduce a photo and getting myself into a huge research project. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
The USS Puffer during launch.
The Prinz Eugen at Bikini
Now this Zero.

I will not be attempting the camo on the Spit until I get my old AB back. I just cannot get a fine spray with the cheap one.

P.S. The phone camera changed the color some. It is JA green which is darker than it shows.

Im really looking forward to this build.  It's extremely unique and rare!

Looking good there Bobby, got to love those 2 tone matchbox kits. Can't wait to see that with some hemp on it.

What the wingspan on that.

Thank you sir!  Actually, there were 3 colours of plastic!  Grey, Green, and White.  A bloody nightmare for sure.  Hence, the primer.  LOL!

She's 19.5" (about 49.5cm).  She will look good hanging in the bedroom!

Well after some more reserch it looks like the rudder was black or dark green as well as the Hinomaru. The Roundel was painted just in front of the blacked out Hinomaru.

I coulkd just about make out the Hinomaru but would not have notice if you had not mentioned it. Its going to make for an interesting scheme with the shipping, painted out areas and new markings.

That will be nice.

I have found a couple of pics of the Avenger i am doing but they were taken after it crash landed. So i plan on looking for some before the action. Though i know they were pretty new at the time.

You are correct anout the fabric control surfaces and this may be the case. I like building from photos. There is another plane I'm building from photos for the Midway GB. The B5N2 Kate AI-301 flown from the Akagi. There are photos I find are from the Pearl Attack an I'm going to assume it wasnt repainted in 6 months.

I see what you mean about the markings and rudder Steve. Could even be the rudder was taken from another aircraft, although the control surfaces on the wings look a bit darker as well. I don't know anything about Zero's, but i did learn that the cointrol surfaces on a B-17 weathered differently to the rest, i think they were fabric covered. Could this be similar.

I do enjoy doing builds useing photo's of the subject, but i find you end up putting even more effort into getting it looking right.

Tony: Nice work there on the cockpit. I built a Hasegawa (I think) Mark VII years ago right from the box and therefore didn't seal off the door there. Makes perfect sense for a pressurized cockpit.

Toshi: Cool, always great to see the cockpit in there and the thing starting to look like a plane.

It is, it's always also a sense of relief that everything fits.  LOL!

Guys... You are all very kind and supportive with your comments... I thank you one and all! Love this GB, and this group, and greatful to Bish for hosting and bringing ys together to share talents and ideas. I'm humbled to be associated with such a group and will be back for the second one we spoke of (Bish) , just have a few more itema to round up to get going.. On the commerative build I decided to do both the Hurricane circa 1940, and the Euro Fighter (2015) The 1940 Hurricane is a 72nd Airfix, and the Euro Fighter is a Hobby Boss 72nd scale. Thanks again and back shortly!
