UP, your F-84 looks how a Monogram model should look. I like it a lot.

Cheers

Finally finished the Monogram F84-F Thunderstreak. Overall, the kit was a pleasure to build.

Well, almost finished, as I'm uploading the pictures I noticed I forgot to paint the wing lights!

The build was straight forward, a little bit of seam work and scribing to replaced the raised panel lines. The decals were a bit old and were difficult to use. They are very thin and wanted to curl up on itself. They reminded me of that thin inner membrane in onions.

I broke the landing gear off a couple times, and I think they are still off a bit. Lesson learned: use 5 minute epoxy for landing gear. Plastic cement dissolves too much and leaves a weak joint, superglue does not allow enough working time.

I probably put too much weight in the nose, it feels really heavy.

Almost had a mishap late in the build. I put drying WIP things on a high cabinet to keep them out of the way. One night I heard something hit the floor, thought it was the cat knocking my son's legos off the lego table. She likes to knock them off and bat them around the floor. The next day I found she knocked a F4D Skyray down, luckily it only broke into three pieces. The heavy weight of the Thunderstreak saved it from certain doom.

My anti-aircraft cat:

I'm going to finish up a few projects, then start on the next Revell/Monogram build.

CB, I know what you mean. I have been pretty busy myself and this GB has gotten away from me. I’m in the same boat with my second project as well.

As far as updating goes, that is an exceptionally unwieldy process now. I am working strictly off an iPad or iPhone these days and the forum does not co operate well with those devices for updates on long posts. Particularly with certain image hosting sites. I have attempted to bring that issue to the attention of admin here a few times, but no response whatsoever. I no longer have a desktop to use anymore and my laptop is a POS that is about only useful for playing music nowadays.

Stik, two items:

1) something happened with the link to my completed Fw190. Can you update the completed kits page with this new link?
https://s10.postimg.cc/x8cj24n6x/Monogram_Fw190_MM4-4850.jpg

2) Sorry for being AWOL for so long. Lots of things going on. "Life is what happens when we are busy making other plans" as you know Cool. Well, I will do my best to get my 2nd project completed before the GB aniverssary.

For some reason decals on cars give me more grief than decals on engines. Good idea on the engine Steve.

Well everything was going so well. I started applting the gloss coat and added the decals. Good news, they look great on this color, bad news, they are wrinkling. Oh well, I was afraid of that. I'll have to remove them and go from there. something was bound to go wrong LOL, it was going too well.

When I was at Scalefest I bought an AMT 1955 Chevy Nomad. Looking though it I found that it had a drag option. I'm stealing the engine to put in the 32. It has headers.

Lots of great builds going on! Just realized I have until 6/23 to finish, better get on it. Instead of the Blue Angels Phantom that I've been carrying around forever, I'm going to build the ancient Anglia gasser. It's going to National's this year as part of a group build so I gotta get it done. Steve, I'll swing by home on the way to Scalefest and see if I've got any SBC headers. When it comes to the "blueprinted" engine, you'd never be able to tell. Basically what blue printed means is they rebuilt the engine to the tightest tolerances allowed by the original factory blueprints. Supposedly it gets you more hp. I think there's better ways to spend money when it comes to going fast.

Stik,

Here are some replacement photos for my builds. Hopefully postimage won’t have another “hiccup”.

I applied the third coat and I think it's looking good. I'll apply a gloss coat tomorrow maybe Saturday. I also bought some burgandy for the interior.

It's a 20 year old bottle of MM that's never been opened. I don't know if they make it anymore. I wasn't sure if was any good but goes down nice.

Thanks Tony,

I applied the second coat. Maybe one more wet sand and a final color coat then the gloss coat.

I need to get some purple for the interior.

Thanks Tony, I am going to wet sand and add another coat on Monday. I was going to leave the hood off. While doing some research for exterior/interior color etc. I saw some 32's with the hood off and they looked cool. I wish the kit came with headers.

A purple interior looks good with this color.

Impressively quick progress Steve.  Thats a good colour for it too. It contrasts well with the Chevy engine red.

I applied the first of many coats of the Silver Blue Metallic. I really don't care for the plug wires so I'm going to look for something else. The wire I got will work great for something else though.

She's got legggggssss. Now there's some memories. I bought the album, loved it, went to the concert when they toured and built the model car. I'll try and dig it out for a photo later.

I watched it and it remember now, they turned it into a spaceship.

Thanks Tony,

I'm going to paint the body MM Silver Blue Metallic. I'm pretty sure it will be more difficult to cover than yellow so I laid down a gray base first. I also picked up some 28 ga wire for the plug wires.
