So how do you do the white foamy water next to the hull?

Cotton and acrylic gel. It's more that I wanted but needed to fill the gaps between the flat bottom, since this was a waterline kit, and the base. I prefer a full hull to put into a seascape.

I'm done with the Kirishima. I must say it was quite the kit. For 1/700 it had outstanding detail and a very large sheet of PE. I placed it in my usual water base for display and after having my eyes crossed by the PE, rigging and the very small decals I completed it tonight.

BTW Gam, I didn't see the Ha Go on the wall.

Steve: Looks fantastic! Hope you didn't blow any PE off with your airbrush, I've done that a few times. 

John: Looks cool, some thick plastic there, back then they gave you your money's worth! Btw are you going to leave all those rivets or just sand them off? I've got a kit with the same issues and am not sure if I want to replace the ones I lose on the seams or just get rid of all of them.  

 

I've seen some pictures of this exact kit with the rivets left on and if I can duplicate the paint it should look really good.

Finally got some work done on my Ki-67. Working on the cowels, had to thin down the cowel flaps and drill out the exhaust, what a pain.  This is a very old kit so it doesn't have very fine details.

Also i have to fill in the slots for the movable gear doors.  I want to make the door hinges more realistic.

See what I mean by old,  I'm just a few  years older than the mold!

I painted the grey, now I need to attach it to the base so I can have something to hold to paint the small parts such as the satcom domes, CIWS, etc. then add the rigging, decals and some weathering. Once everything is done I'll finish the base.

That is some really nice PE work on that mast.  I never really noticed before, but it seems to have a pagoda look to it.

The lens would be blue, Jack.  The exceptions would be the most modern LED type lights which may appear green. 

Hmmm, that's interesting. Sorry Jack, I have no idea. Wonder if I've been painting them the wrong colour for years?

They always appear blue, even a bare bulb under a clear lens.  The blue filters the light from the filament and makes it appear green.
