Fixed the plane with (not) blue tac after fixed central structures (extended in some case with tricks)

As primer i used a german yellow used for some veichle..

Then first second and third layer of orange ( A mix of 154 and 60 humbrol)

Ohhhh nice job there Bsyamato! I'd not thought about using German yellow as an undercoat for the trainer yellow.

Gam, I'm back!

I completed all the other stuff I had on the bench and needed to finish the Nell so opening it back up I'm hit with all those greenhouses and cannopy and all that masking. I had begun applying liquid mask and stoped half way through. I started completing that process tonight. I had also lost one of the engine gearboxes a while back and Hasegawa wanted $10 plus shipping for a replacement. I looked through all the older Japanese kits I recently purchased for just a few dollars and found some replacements. So, I'm back on track now. This and the Betty I bought a little while back will go well with the Prince of Wales I will be starting soon.

Steve: Great to see you back around!!! She's lookin' good! I picked up a few new 1/72nd Japanese aircraft kits the other week at our show so I'm interested in seeing how your Nell comes out.

I also have a 1/50 scale Hasegawa Oscar I picked up last year and wanted to build it for a Japanese GB. Kit number 7, motorized, but the decals are a mess. Totally yellowed out. I'll try to bleach them in the sun, if not 1/48 should work.

Ohhhh, sounds cool! I love those odd old kits. I'd figure nobody would know the difference with 1/48th decals if you didn't tell them what they were.

Near the finish line with the trainer, painted the brown parts , red tail and glossy with decals after. Again the engine (also painted some more detail on it) not glued

I was able to get quite a bit done. After completing the liquid mask on the canopys and greenhouses. I sprayed a black base using Tamiya acrylic NATO Black. I then sprayed silver over areas that would chip, sprayed some chipping fluid over the silver and went back over those areas with the NATO Black again. Then I sprayed the cowls black, Tamiya J.N. Grey on the underside and brown on the top. I then added the last of the canopies and finished spraying the brown. Once everything is nice and dry, I'll mask and add the acrylic Tamiya J.N. Green then work on the chipping once that is dry.

I added the green, now to get to the chipping and removing the liquid mask.

Steve: The pre-shading and camo look perfect! Looking forward to seeing how the chipping comes out.

I completed the Nell. It was an easy build but I made it more dificult than it needed to be. I started in in Feb, lost a few parts and kept breaking the fidely stuff off but I finished it. Admidditly I've gone through a few things since Feb so loosing a part here or there is understandable. I feel the paint and chipping turned out well but the build as a whole is not a show winner. It's just fine for my shelf though.

This finally completes all my backlog. Now I have a some other heavy builds comming up so this will probably be the last Japanse build for this year, but you never know about me. I just can't pass up a Japanese subject.

Well done, Steve.  I wish Tamiya would do a 1/48 Nell to got with their Betty.

Intresting way for the chipping

After sealed the decals a black (rarely i use pure black) wash i did. 

Steve: She looks friggin' perfect! Great job there on the camo and the chipping. Will get you posted ASAP! 

Bsyamato: Looks good! I've been using a dark brown wash on yellow and orange but your results look great!

BTW, I just learned that the Kirishima won 1st place at the Texas State Fair. It will be on display till the 1st part of October. I didn't know the State Fair judged models but when my stepsister said something I looked into it. They actually have several categories.  Who knew.

Hey Gamera, I‘d like to change my entry for this GB.  I have got so many projects going on, I realized I’m not going to have time to build the Tamiya Zero in a way that would really do justice to it.  Don’t want to rush it just to meet the deadline.  So I pulled an older, smaller kit out of my stash, a 1:72 scale Hasegawa kit of a Kawasaki Ki-61 “Tony” that I’ll be doing instead, if that is okay.  Thanks!
