Well...I'm calling this little beast done.  Decals were horrendous. But I was able to save the important ones.

I like the detail you have added. Very well done.

I've progressed on the I-400, I got the hull glued together, but, I had to add some braces to the bottom half.

Then I primed the hull

Then I decided that I'm going to make this boat float. I need to get some foam and I'm going to put this in the water. It will be my first attempt at a water scene, and I'm kinda looking forward to it. 

Hopefully more progress to show soon.

Cliff, If you don't mind, would it be ok to post progress pictures of my Type 4 here as well? Since it is a Japanese Tank.

Got the IJN grey on, shading just about bleeding through.

Ta, with my tamiya scriber, trumpeter "riveter" and dyno tape it is not to hard.

I will add rivets to the rest of the plane aswell.

Hey Theuns, looks pretty darn good to me! Really nice work on redoing the detail on the float. 

This will be a very simple oit the box build, nothing special.

I added maskingtape belts and gave it all some shadow with a pin wash.

Jack, I am using Oramask 810.  I think it is thinner than the material Montex uses, and it works around curves better.

John: Great job! Just got you posted. And wow, I can't get something built in six months.

The Japanese had plans to upgrade the Shinden to a jet engine which would have allowed them to ditch the silly over long landing gear.

That turned out nice John.  The gear angles look strange. The mains placed forward like that and with such a long nose wheel strut just makes it look tail heavy, but I guess not.

John, that is pretty neat work on this one.

Excellent use of your vinyl cutter - I have wondered how thick the vinyl - is it like what other manufactures use for their pre-made masks?

Yes, they are painted.  Much easier than decals.  I just finished putting the detail decals on, some red borders and no step stuff.  Not much in the way of stenciling and since it is all dark red against dark green not very visible to me.  Drying now.  The masks for the meatballs are on the sheet I posted earlier.  My Cameo likes dxf files so that is what is used to do the cuting, not the jpg used to post here.

I was going to ask, did you mask and paint the hinomaru? I really like your results.

And neat idea on building the actual test plane instead of a hypothetical operational version. 

The Hasegawa 1/48 J7W1 Shinden.

This one is a nice fitting older kit that will be some company for my Collect-Aire XP-55.  I just did a simple cockpit and let it go at that, and will close up the canopy to keep the lines clean.  The panel was pretty well molded so some silver dry brushing followed by Future on the dial faces took care of that.
