Waggish, excellent job with the Airfix Emil. Yes
Colours look very good, and great stuff with the mottling at this scale.

Thanks  Bish.
The bust is a total of six parts if one includes the brass rod to mount - note no base.  Also have the option to go hatless.

Also WA, I was thinking of picking this up tomorrow, if someone dosn't buy it before I do.

It was flown by Tetsuzo Iwamoto who was credited with at least 87 victories based on the RAF and FAA scoring systems, but his diary claims 202 alied aircraft. Either way he was one of the top scoring aces in the IJNAS.

I'll let you know if I get it.

Jack, looking forward to seeing that bust. I have only worked on Youngs Minitures bust so far but have had my eye on a couple of these MJ ones. I am keen to see how well caste it is. Is this a one piece bust?

Steve, thanks for that.  I'll try to post some decent progress that can be followed on this figure.

On a different note, another question for a qualifying entry,  instead of an aircraft, would a scale figure bust of a famous ace work?  I have this in the stash:

If you wan to build it, it's in. I didn't originally account for figures of aces in the rules, but if you want to do it, I'd LOVE to see someone talented get at it. I'm amending the rules right now to make it oaky- respond if you'd like me to enter it for you.

I love to see you do it Jack. You do such a great job on figures. I want to try to do some figures myself and I learn from you, not to mention just watching your artwork.

I think S.B.S. Models is the most recent to release decals  for the Finnish Buffulo, available both in 1/72 and 1/48.   Should be easist to find from a European vendor:

gregbale, that looks like quiet the project! I hope you've got an ample supply of putty!

Crown, I added your 2nd to the roster- as a side note, do you know if that decal sheet is available to purchase somewhere online? I've always been a fan of the Finn's, and something like that might finally get my Buffalo built.

I would like to enter another build . A finnish f2a2 flown by pilot officer Hans Wind with a total of 75 kills all in russian 39 in a buffalo 36 in an me 109g2. I have an aeromaster sheet that I bought in 1993 for a finnish f2a2 .

More fighting Finns are always welcome!

Hope that aged decal sheet is still viable. (I have some that age that are...but it depends a lot on how they're stored.)

Figured it's time to jump in with the obligatory prelims for my end of the GB. I give you the 21st Century Toys 1/32 Bf109G-14:

I usually don't keep boxes from my kits, but the box-art can be seen upper left. For those unfamiliar with this company's products, they were originally designed to be sold as pre-assembled and pre-decorated collector toys...which they then decided to sell as kits. Hence the quick and fool-proof method of screw assembly (with great big screw holes on wings and fuselage, and vinyl-like 'plugs' to cover those holes). The kits came as seen above, with no sprues to speak of, but parts neatly gathered in sealed plastic bags. A better view of the exciting box-art, and really fine decals:

A quick glance showed the kit's wings are the same as used in the earlier Bf109F release; but there is good news....

The kit is fairly 'simplified' as are all the entries in the series, but make a good basic starting-point. I've got an Eduard instrument panel and some other 'goodies' available, which I may or may not use. We'll all see how things develop.

jgeratic, I don't know. I bought it around last Christmas, so whatver range was in store then, that's what this is.

taxtp: thanks! I've updated you.

hogfanfs: Thanks! I didn't know about that- I'll have to give it a go. I've added you to the roster as well.

Zvezda1980: Added.

Waggish,

I'd like to enter with a 1/48 Hasegawa Bf109G-2 flown by Alfred Grislawski of JG.52 (credited with 133 victories). I did start this kit already, but only added some PE to the cockpit, no paint has been applied. I'll post pictures soon.

This is a veeeery nice idea for a GB. Please count me in, I will (try to) build Hasegawa's Bf-109G-10 in 1:48, as flown by Lt. Heinz 'Esau' Ewald of JG.52 (credited with 84 kills).

Cheers

TheWaggishAmerican

However, I had to reload my cup before the right side. I'm pretty sure I didn't thin it enough, and I had a huge problem with the paint refusing to spray.

Waggish,

If you don't already know, Vallejo has a Flow Improver Here which makes a world of difference with both their regular paint and Air paint. Thin the paint as you normally would, then add a couple drops of the flow improver. Hope this helps.

And the mottling on your 109 looks great, especially for 1/72.
