Hello gentlemen. This weekend I (at last) started the build. As announced, the machine is a Me 109G-10, and the ace is mr. Heinz "Esau" Ewald, credited with 84 kills. Markings will be for the period when 'Esau' was operating with II./JG-52 from Veszprem in Hungary, sometime during February 1945. At that time and place, our ace was fighting both against Soviet and western allies' airforces.

The plane

The ace (found them on the net)

The kit

The basic Eduard PE set will be used to 'liven' the cockpit a little and marking will come from a Montex set of masks.

Now with the construction:

PE sets were placed, as well as some tentative wiring and other stuff, untill the cockpit looked sufficiently 'busy'.

Then everything was sprayed with Gunze RLM66, the pre-painted PE parts were installed and several details were highlighted with dry brush.

Finally the main control panel was assembled

I left everything aside to dry and I started removing the half a kilo of CA glue stuck on my hands (along comes also my skin and fingerprints, but no pain no gain).

All criticism and comments more than welcomed.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Was the spiral a decal? What witchcraft did you have to do to actually get a spiral to conform to a spinner?

Hello friends! Here is a quick update on the Alfred Suraus 109.  Basecoat and camouflage are down. Mottling and mild weathering are next. So far this has been a trouble-free build.

managed to finish off the Stuka a couple of weeks ago, but i needed to get somthing else for the whole project, so, a bit late, but here are the final pics.

Finihsing touches were to add the cannon, prop, canopy and antenna cable. Then it was fiitted to the base.

Thank for letting me take part in a great GB. Please feel free to use which ever pic you choose. I look forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with.

Alright my Eduard BF110E is finished. Tried a few new things one is these aerobouns figures that have outstanding detail, secound is this krycell precision ice and snow next time I use it I will use hairspray instead of clearcoat to fix it still I like the outcome. So since this GB is about the aces heres a bit of info on Felix Maria Brandis. Source Osprey Arctic Bf109 and Bf110 aces.  Felix-Maria Brandis was born on 9 September 1916 at Ahaus. He received his flying training at Luftkriegsschule 1 at Dresden from 14 September 1939. Brandis was serving with JG 77 in early 1941. He was assigned to a Bf 110 Zerstörerkette, established for coastal patrol missions, based at Kirkenes in Norway. By the implementation of Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of Russia, the unit had been expanded to Staffel strength and designated 1.(Z)/JG 77. Leutnant Brandis had assumed command of the unit by this time. On 2 February 1942, Brandis was returning at low-level from a train-busting mission along the railway line south of Murmansk when the Staffel encountered bad weather. Their own base was closed so the unit diverted to Rovaniemi. In the zero visibility conditions, Brandis failed to return. It was later established he had crashed near Olanga. His Radio Op., Feldwebel Herbert Baus survived, but wounded. Oberleutnant Brandis was posthumously awarded the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold on 6 March 1942. Felix Maria Brandis was credited with 14 victories. However, some sources credit him with a victory total as high as 18 or even 25.

So here she is WA pick what ever photo you want for the 1st page.

Got the figures done along with lockheed, also added some metal tubes to the wheels to help keep the model to the base.

When I was making the base I didn't have enough oak to wrap around the entire thing and since it was 2:30AM I couldn't just go down to the store so only added some to the front to hold the name plate.

Handsome looking 110 Clint.

I finally completed Hinrich Bar's A-8, Red 13. The kit (Academy) went together well but I had a hard time with the decals. After destroying a couple because I used thin glue instead of setting solution by mistake, I found some replacements. The decals kept coming off and were difficult to keep on until I could get a flat coat on everything. One of the landing gear broke off and I reinstalled it using a piece of wire as a pin but was still having a very difficult time getting it to dry correctly. I finally finished everything without breaking anything else long enough to take some pictures. The decals have some silvering but considering everything else this has gone through, that's minor.
