I painted the tail and fuselage band red

IMG_20191006_071505 by Theunis van Vuuren, on Flickr

Then gloss alclad black as a base

IMG_20191006_091601 by Theunis van Vuuren, on Flickr

Then alclad airframe alluminium untill I had a nice dark allu look. After this I used the standard black basing to give shading and modulation to the final alclad.

Most painting now done, will seal it with a clearcoat and start weathering

Howdy Bish.  My next submission will be something a bit faster than the Stuka.  I'd like to submit the 1/48 Lightning F.2A.  I've never done anything with metallic finish so it's time I conquer my fear of the unknown and go with the bird represented on the box art.

Chad,
Superb result with the Stuka great paint job and weathering. And that canopy – real precision there!
And I like your mug in the background of the Prinz Eugen.
Frank,
The Buffalo is coming along well, looking forward to seeing how it goes.
Got another coat of Vallejo Metal Colour Aluminium onto the Vampire – much happier now

Update on the Buffalo: It's out on the paint bench right now. I shot it with Model Master gray enamel primer the other day. Then pre-shaded it with Tamiya Flat Black acrylic. This morning I sprayed the underside with Model Master Light Ghost Gray. Later I'll spray the topside with Model Master Medium Blue enamel. The finished airplane will be VMF-221 at Midway, June 1942.

...

Hi,

I'm looking forward to seeing how this build turns out.

Theuns

I shot primer onto the Kate, initially it looked ready for paint but I had to fill the one side of the front fuselage just ehind the cowl as the fit was not very good, hope to get paint on this weekend.

That will look good in a nice metallic finish.

Nice Frank! Glad to see you didn't get carpel tunnel masking that canopy!

Thanks, Mopar. Actually, the Devastator was a lot tougher to mask.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

Thanks, lostagain. Yeah, the Buffalo fits in the palm of my hand. It's tiny! Looking forward to seeing your Vampire finished. I came across that kit yesterday while I was on a shopping mission. I shoulda brought it home. Next time.

Edit: Shot the primer on the Buffalo today. Tomorrow I'll do some pre-shadinig.

Ernest, the 109 looks like it is coming together really well. The cockpit was nicely detailed for 1/72
Dan, great painting on the P-40 with the preshading, Interesting your heavy dilution for the Tamiya gloss, I will have to give that a shot.
68GT, the Eagle looks super smooth there. I can imagine that going at Mach 2
The Buffalo would be an absolute pain to mask there Frank, must be a tiny kit too.
Theuns, the Kate is falling together nicely, good interior painting.
Chad, some of the seams were pretty wide but pretty easy to fill using PPP
Did put the first coat of aluminium on, not happy so it has been sanded off again, hopefully the next is better. You may be able to see the sink marks that I had to fill in on the top of the elevators just outside the booms. Had that the last time I made this kit too, and on an Airfix Lightning as well.

The 109 is looking really nice. Is that often the case, you lose one bit and find somthing else. Normally i find it when its to late.

Not sure Ernest but I'm guessing that some spray (paint or dullcoat) got between the fusalage and the canopy to fog the inside.  I might have dipped the canopy in Future so I might be able to clean things up easly.
