Update on the Buffalo: It's out on the paint bench right now. I shot it with Model Master gray enamel primer the other day. Then pre-shaded it with Tamiya Flat Black acrylic. This morning I sprayed the underside with Model Master Light Ghost Gray. Later I'll spray the topside with Model Master Medium Blue enamel. The finished airplane will be VMF-221 at Midway, June 1942.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

Nice Frank! Glad to see you didn't get carpel tunnel masking that canopy!

I shot primer onto the Kate, initially it looked ready for paint but I had to fill the one side of the front fuselage just ehind the cowl as the fit was not very good, hope to get paint on this weekend.

Thanks, Mopar. Actually, the Devastator was a lot tougher to mask.

That will look good in a nice metallic finish.

Chad,
Superb result with the Stuka great paint job and weathering. And that canopy – real precision there!
And I like your mug in the background of the Prinz Eugen.
Frank,
The Buffalo is coming along well, looking forward to seeing how it goes.
Got another coat of Vallejo Metal Colour Aluminium onto the Vampire – much happier now

Howdy Bish.  My next submission will be something a bit faster than the Stuka.  I'd like to submit the 1/48 Lightning F.2A.  I've never done anything with metallic finish so it's time I conquer my fear of the unknown and go with the bird represented on the box art.

I painted the tail and fuselage band red

IMG_20191006_071505 by Theunis van Vuuren, on Flickr

Then gloss alclad black as a base

IMG_20191006_091601 by Theunis van Vuuren, on Flickr

Then alclad airframe alluminium untill I had a nice dark allu look. After this I used the standard black basing to give shading and modulation to the final alclad.

Most painting now done, will seal it with a clearcoat and start weathering

Ta, the shading is totally oved done but the final clearcoat should tone it all down a little. The flaps and ailerons have been painted with hmbrol 11 silver to look like silver doped fabric, this to will be weatherd.

I haven't looked in in a while. Supurb work guys.

Chad, nice work on the hull. Did you drill the portholes or did they come like that?

I hope that website I sent you helped.

Well, here it is! Airfix 1/72 scale F2A Brewster Buffalo. VMF 221, Midway Island, June 1942. I'm kinda not sure. The propeller doesn't look right to me. Even though Marine Buffalos didn't have them, I think I'm going to put the spinner on and paint it blue. The canopy paint mask worked better than I thought it would. The canopy framing looks pretty nice. The topside is painted Model Master Medium Blue lightened with a few drops of MM Insignia White. The underside is MM Light Ghost Gray. The airplane was pre-shaded with Tamiya Flat Black acrylic. The national insignia are from the Print Scale Buffalo Aces decal set and are out of register by just a hair. Anyway, here's some pictures. Enjoy...

EDIT: I'm gonna put the spinner on. The airplane just doesn't look right without the spinner.

Thanks Bish.

Thanks Mopar Madness:  Well done on the Ju 87 Stuka

Nice F-15 Eagle 68GT.

Fotofrank: Nice masking on the Buffalo.

Theuns: Great Interior painting on the Kate, a metal finish will look nice.

Bufflehead: The Bf-109 is lookin' great.

Thanks Lostagain, the wet method of apply the Tamiya gloss work great on small models.
I tried that on my 1/144 Boeing 747-8, I was using up to much paint so I switched over
to using Testors spray can Gloss White #1245

Finished up the painting and added the add on parts(gun's, antenna, landing gear).  After the Olive Drab cured I lighty wet sanding it with Tamiya's 2000 grit sanding sponge.  Then I airbrushed on Tamiya X-22 clear, both top and bottom.  Planing on decals Thursday.

A week ago I started the Heinkel He 111 H-6, so far the fit has been pretty good.

I even have some pollyscale paint left over.

Model Master Enamel RLM 66

IMG_5768 by Daniel Smith, on Flickr

For the Torpedoes I airbrushed Tamiya X-1 Black and a base, then Model Master Enamel Medium Gray #1721.  Thursday I'll masked up the medium grey and airbrush Vallejo Silver #77.724.

Glued up the wing section and brushed on some Tamiya XF-19 Sky Grey to see where the air line cracks are.

IMG_5762 by Daniel Smith, on Flickr

I'm going with the RLM 70, 71 & Flat Black paint scheme.

I painted the spinner this morning between rain showers. The little fighter looks a lot better now. It just didn't look complete without the spinner. The color doesn't match perfectly but the south Pacific sun can be brutal on paint.

Dan - I loved every aspect of my 111 build.  Seeing those sprues kind of makes me want to start another one!

Excellent job on the Buffalo Frank!

Looking great all over and the canopy is YesYesYes!

I got lazy and bought a masking set from Eduard for the Hurry.

But will have my joy on the P-40...

@ Dan - Nice detail in that P-40 office!

@ Theuns - looking good!

@ All - Keep it up, so many cool entries!
