Airfix has a new tool Do17z in BOB livery too.  It looks pretty impressive.

About bloody time Big Smile. After getting the A-4 and seeing how they had made it so it would be easy to swap out a sprue to make a different variant, i had been hoping for an A-1. I guess the company going up for sale slowed everything down. Thats me adding another 88 to the stash just when i am trying to wittle them down. Cheers jack.

And good to see you back, haven't seen you on here for a while.

Well, howdy Jack! That is welcome news indeed! I'll add that to the "must have" list for 2020.  Just under the new Airfix Vulcan!

Thanks for the heads up on the He-111 Bish, I was going off the Xtradecals German Battle of Britain set and they provide markings for a H-3. I just checked evilbay and it looks like I'm going to have to save up because both the Airfix and Hasegawa options seem to be spendy at the moment.

Unless you want a version that only hasegawa does, i would certainly recomend the Airfix kit, even with the slight fit issues. I have a Hase P-2 but i will be getting another Airfix one to do the P-2. And i don't think it would take much to bring it up to an H-2 or 3 standard.

Thanks guys, and yeah I have been awol from both the forum and the modeling bench.

Any time devoted to the hobby has been towards doing art work for a current and possible future builds.  Thing is the company that will print it up -DrawDecal, told me they would only print a full sheet (or at least charge for a full 8x10"), so have been busy researching to fill up said sheet.

Jack,

Welcome back! Thanks for the heads up on the Ju-88A-1. I definitely will be getting one.

Chad,

Thanks for the reminder on the Do-217Z. I had a chance to buy it and the He-111P-2 when they came out, just never did.

Bish,

I'll most likely stick with the Airfix as they seem to be less expensive on the used market.

It's been rainy and nasty for the last few days here in Central Florida. I haven't been able to paint. Hopefully, after Christmas the nasty weather will clear out and I can get some painting done.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

Frank - Did you say at one point you did find some decals for a 1/72 WB-29? I would like to make one someday but I can't find any aftermarket decals.

Before its too late.....Happy Holidays All!!

I've been super busy with the holidays, but I managed to get a little more work done on my Airfix Trio:

Not much progress on the BF-109.  Touched up some boo-boos and fixed the width of the white wing tips:

The P-51 has most of the paint work done, I might add some more panel color variations...might not.  Not shown....most of the smaller parts are also painted.

And the FW-109 finally has paint on!  I hope I have time today to gloss coat all so that when I get back from travel I can start decaling.

I hope everyone has a wonderful time during the holidays!

Holy mackerel Ernest! That is some stellar paint on those birds and that mottled camouflage is spectacular. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you too!

Mopar, Google WB-29. There's lots of pictures of the airplanes. The markings are simple. Just USAF markings and the star and bar. Some had red tails and wing tips. What you can find too, is a Hurricane Hunters logo that you can use as the basis for nose art.

I saw one with a red tail and red wing tips and white fuselage that looked really spectacular.

Mopar, if indeed you pursue a WB-29 build, I recommemd one of the Academy B-29 kits. A likely candidate would be the Academy Enola Gay kit because it has the turret blank-outs. Obviously the WB-29 carried no armament.

This guy makes the "doghouse" that is in place of the upper rear turret: https://www.lonestarmodels.com/

It appears that he only does business intermittently though. If you don't get any results from Lone Star let me know and I'll send you the one I have, gratis.

While not for this build, look at what my Secret Santa sent me.

Looks like I have my entry for your FAA build Bish.

Nice, i really liked that Phantom. I am sure you willlove the decals Big Smile. I already have the follow up FGR.2 and am waiting for the RAF version of the FG.1.

I am not running an FAA build though, but that might not be a bad idea for the future seeing as i have done an RAF GB and the have the Army one coming up.

There is an existing unending FAA build, it's just dormant:I don't know where the scurvy dogs are, everytime we get to port they disappear until the money runs out.  Maybe their pay should be cut (again)!

In between MANY other work projects at home I got 30min of model time this week and put on the Kate's glasing and undercart. I also did a little chipping on the tail paint.

I hope to sneak it in just before "final call" lol

Seconding Admiral Jeaton's mention of the FAA GB - I have been in the brig - sorry, on the build list there myself and it was a fun atmosphere...

"well that just made the...buy it and hide from the wife list" - nice one TJ

Ernest, really good looking work on your trio there, coming along very well.

I had another entry for this GB, but it didn't go well....

It is the CAC Boomerang, 1/72 Scale

First issue was the short shot on the tail, but I was sure I could work with that

Then I realised later that a few bit were warped

So I softened the fuselage in boiling water before straightening it up. Which sort of worked... Except then the fuselage was two millimetres shorter and the noise pointing down. More boiling water, more manipulation did not make it any better.

SO this particular build is over very soon after it started.

Bish, again thanks for this GB. I will see you in the British Army GB next year
