68GT Lewbud, that should be a quick finish I would think if all goes well.

You would think, but we'll see.
Ziggy,
You have the ancient 1950's vintage Hawk kit, reboxed as a Testors kit. Not a bad kit, just a simple one.
Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.
Lewbud, love the Mini
And you are correct, I should have checked Scalemates. I love history, even the history of models.
1953 Initial Release
I have the 1991 Release
And I found the detail parts I plan on using. I should not have called this kit a crummy model. I should say that I take detail challanged kits and make them better!
your shipmate,
Ziggy
Thanks Ziggy. As of yesterday, I don't have a deadline to finish because the contest next Saturday has been cancelled. Kits like this provide so many opportunities. You can practice your rescribing techniques, try a different brand of paint, weathering techniques, play with aftermarket parts, etc.
Ive been busy with the shelflings. Started on one of the sixes also that are on the shelf.
On Ed's bench, ???

Thanks, the decals are from Caracal Models.
Ive been doing some work on the SIX by Monogram.
Here are some progress pics of the F-16 I am building for my son. I was planning on painting on the major markings by cutting masks on my cutting machine, but that is going to take until Christmas it feels like and his B-day is in 1 week! I did paint the USAF on the right wing uppper and then I smelled the coffee. It was time to switch to the 40 year old decals. The decal process was very fun. the glue on the decal sheet had turned brown and , I did not come up with a good solution until the 'U S Air Force ' decals were in place. I found a good decal sheet that I was not going to use (aka Tamiya Fw-190D-9 sheet) and soaked the whole thing to get decals off. Then I took each Monogram decal and removed it from its sheet, fliped it over onto the Tamiya sheet and wiped the brown glue off the back side with a wet piece of paper towl, then flipped it back over on the Tamiya decal sheet to pick up some sticky stuff before placement. Good thing those Monogram decals are tough! Well, keep in mind this is for a 9 year old and will be hanging from the ceiling in his beadroom... I also realize I goofed up on the red tail tip-- should have brought the red down more.. but again, this is not going in the display case and the main and most important goal is to have it completed to a 9 year olds standards by next week.
On the Bench: Too Much
Wow, that sounds like a ton of work there with the decals but things look great! Once cleaned of the glue how did you attach them?
This Six is moving along now with painting and some Fox One Decals. They went on great.
68GT, Thanks. I sacrificed a Tamiya Fw-190 decal sheet and used it's glue
The 'Six' is looking mighty pertty GT. Nice work.
cbaltrin 68GT, Thanks. I sacrificed a Tamiya Fw-190 decal sheet and used it's glue
68GT cbaltrin 68GT, Thanks. I sacrificed a Tamiya Fw-190 decal sheet and used it's glue I'd like to learn more about this process is there a tutorial or video somewhere?
Not that I am aware of, I just came up with it on the fly. I really put all the info in my post.
Working on all the fidly bits. The birtday boy is going to be happy I think..
I guess the part I'm not getting is the glue transfer. So your saying the is enough glue on the paper to transfer onto the Monogram decals? Do you just wet the Taiya sheet enough the release the 190 decals?

Yes, that is correct. Plenty of glue still left on the Tamiya sheet after you remove all the decals.
Well, I put the tires on in the hope that this project will now gain some traction.
The F-16 is really shaping up nicely and thats nice to know about the decals .
Monogram F-16A Is Done!

Nick.
So I got into this GB over a year ago, and then in traditional fashion I got distracted and built a different model - sending my Saturn V back to my shelf of doom. Well, since I've been on lockdown I've been getting after it. It's done, but I did take some pics along the way. I did miss some of the construction because I didn't realize til recently that the GB was still going on! Anyway, I've been failing at posting pics, but I'll get them up as soon as I figure it out.
Okay, lemme see if I can get some pics here.
Little bits
LM foil
LM and CSM
Completed LM
And more...
Man that brings me back. I would ask my dad what with the black and white paint, he would say for the rate of spin measurements.

Thanks! I've actually been getting in to real space/realistic future space/realistic retro space models recently. I tend to cycle through genres.
