Some of them older kits can be some real turds but with enough polish they can turn out just fine.  Here is the old Revell Rf-4E and a pair of Monogram Strike Eagles all in 1/72 scale.

68GT, I'd love to join this group build....I just have so much to chose from.  For now, put me down for a Revell F-4B/J Phantom and/or an Airfix Aichi Val dive bomber, both in 1/72nd scale.  Both are mostly assembled, but lack exterior painting, decals, and final clear coats.  I'll post pictures as soon as possible.

Dave, welcome aboard and those old Revell Phantoms can come out nice with a little work.  I used CAM Decals on this one.

Freem, I bet it feels good to get some green on that zero doesnt it.

Armor, nice work so far!  What are you final plans with this one for the finish?

Does thinking about models count as progress?  Anyways if possible I would like to dive in to this.  Got Revell 1/72 Morane Saulnier N, a couple of DH-2s, a Monogram FW-190, and Revell's 350 Emden. Plus a Monogram 1/48 Zero I can't seem to finish for Mafia IV.

I decided my next shelf queen is a Fujimi F-4B done as the Navy F-4G.  Just look at that dust buildup. 

Nice job Aficionado!  Now get o work on that next queen.

For my next entry, rescued from the Shelf Of Doom, is ths kit (might it be the OLDEST Shelf of Doom inhabitant?).  Released by Testors in 1983 under Testor/Italeri branding, it is a rebox of an Italeri rebox of a Tomy rebox of an old Max/Peerless kit frm 1974 (per Scalemates).  I would have bought it back when it was a new release and apparently, at one point I opened the box and spray painted some of the parts Olive Drab, but that's it.  I'm sure it's been sitting this way for probably 30 years or more.  The instructions have yellowed with age to the point it looks like the Declaration of Independence (photo shows the instructins sitting on top of a piece of new white paper)!

Oops, I just realized I hadn't posted any more pics of my Pzkw. I-B in a while (I had been posting them over on the German Armor GB, but forgot to follow up on this GB).  So it is actually done now; here are the final reveal pics.

Ahh, I have a couple unfinished kits to get done. Tamiya M8 GMC and Bronco H39 W/ 28 cm rockets.

Thanks Mustang! It went fast after I got the outlines penciled in, and wound up being a lot easier than I thought it would be.

I have the F5 to the point where I'm calling it done other than the display base. I'll get pictures up when I have a chance to get some new batteries for my camera.

Time to get the Jaguar A back on the bench and git-r-done.

Well folks I keep forgetting that I've had this lil' sucker of mine in a GB as well. Without further ado ....

I started this kit over three years ago and ran into a lot of problematic areas with this kit. To say that this kit has now moved into #1 on my most difficult/ frustrating and sometimes angering build would simply be an understatement. It was so bad that I stepped away from aircraft building altogether for those 3 years. Some of it I brought on myself by making things more difficult than they needed to be and other areas were just plain ridiculous the way Hasegawa put this thing together. This kit is touted to be one of the best scale model representations of this iconic plane and on that point I'll agree once it's built. Getting there was the difficult part for me. Enough of that banter though. Thanks go out to to 68GT and all who commented and/ or egged me on in here to get this rascal finished.

Looks like I have a little touch up work to do on the underside. Almost ready for decals!

That 234 is really shaping up!  There is a reason these became shelf queens so any progress is good progress no mater how long the gap is.

I started to get back into the swing of things and then life jumped back in.  My daughter's high school graduation happened and a party for this.  Had other partys to go to as well as a few birthdays.  Then our cruise came along but I just came back yesterday so maybe i can get thing started back up.

I also have to check which GBs I started something in since I can only think of one other than this one at the moment.

I'm down to the REALLY short list on getting the base aircraft finished so I can move on to the engine assembly and detailing. Only a few things left like main gear doors and struts, aerial antenna, painting the rivets on the cockpit framing and installing the pitot tube. I mean I've got a little clean up to do here and there but this part of the build is just about to a close. Really stoked about displaying the engine though.

Overall, I've got some mixed feelings about this kit here because of fit issues but mostly because it has now moved into the most difficult kit that I've ever built category. Just really don't care for it even though it's supposed to be the best 234 kit out there. No worries however, I'm saddling up and moving forward and have learned a lot from this build.

I have the Hobbycraft version, and just might have to pull it out. The big dilemma is do I just use the Eduard PE set or go for the gusto and add in the Ares resin as well.
