On Ed's bench, ???
After a good long drying period for thw wash I gave the A-1 a flat coat. I'll let that sit a while before I continue.
hogfanfs Mustang, The pre-shading looks good. I know I've seen that office before, and, it's still some fantastic work.

that's pretty good ! there
Nick.
Almost forgot.....and for those who haven't seen this part of the build yet...here's the completed interior tub:
68GT Damn Women!
Damn Women!
Here's with the first round of the gray marble effect applied.
and then I came back over the whole thing with my Badger 150 with a little tighter pattern for the marble effect. We'll be jumping from here on the rest of the assembly and camo scheme.
Just the girl managed to fix her up for painting
I say build it Nick if you can get things ungooed. Is the whole thing gummy or just the girl?
Nice job with the black paint.
And you know there is no substitue for cubic inches!
I black based this beast and got a fairly even coat on it. I used the same method I use for my autos that I paint in black using semi gloss black for a base. I'm pretty happy with this.Nice n' smooth:
waynec mustang1989 hogfanfs Mustang, I really like that SS454, I wanted one in the worst way when they first came out! Thanks and .............I STILL want one! I've got one of these old CK's with a warmed over 383 engine , beefed up auto trans and a set of 3.90 gears which is a lot of fun but I'd really have alot of fun with a big block. i want either a '67 shelby cobra 350 convertible or a '67 chevelle ss396. i would take a ford gt40. i would keep my forester for model contests.

i only use Vallejo thinner, flow, and airbrush cleaner. Windex works well for cleaning Tamiya and MMA. Also i always spend the extra dollars and use the paint specific thinner. just one less variable given my airbrush skills.

crown r n7 I started this kit in 8/15/2015 the creature from the black lagoon . This kit was going well untill the girl swimmer lots of gaps ok but I used vallejo paints not knowing what I was doing and it turned into a gummy mess!! ok as I was removing all that goo I got really upset and almost threw it against the wall so I shelved it. I thought I may finish it here but....lol I thought it was funny.

68GT Yeah, I think it would only be fitting if the skyraider was weathered and banged up a bit. I'm just not sure how far I'll go since I only have one photo of the subject and the A-1 is fairly clean. I could always wait for the next one though.

Ed: That camo pattern looks great on there. I've used the silly putty method as well and it does work pretty darn good. Are you going for an aged look on this build or fairly "new"?
First off, thank you to Ed and everybody else for having me in hee. I've been thinking looooong and hard about this Arado of mine as of late. It has stayed, for the last 5 years, in plane....er plain sight at the right hand side of my work bench behind glass. While it's true that I stopped building aircraft models 5 years ago in favor of my interest in automotive subjects, I had also reached a point where I started wanting more out of my paint jobs on aircraft. I consider my D-9 to be somewhat of a success story for me but I wanted even more than that. When I took on this 234 I had fears of it being "just another paint job". You know what I'm talking about, one that looked like it just rolled out of 1:1 paint shop and I just couldn't have that. I have recently watched paint jobs come together with processes that have been untried by me on aircraft such as marbling and black basing and feel that I am ready to "tip in" so to speak. I feel really comfortable (and perhaps too comfortable) with the mirror like automotive finishes that I set out on learning how to pull off some 5 years ago now and am ready for my next challenge in modeling.
Some of my projects while I've been away from aircraft:
After finally learning how to get consistent results with a shiny paint job I feel that I am now ready for the next challenge of learning how to master a war/ weather worn aircraft finish. So with that we'll see what's next. I'll be doing a "catch up" here in this thread to get things to where I'm at now with it. Stay tuned........
68,
The camo pattern does look good. If the light green is to match the light green on the stabilizers, yeah, it is off a bit. But, a clear coat may neutralize the colors. Also, a filter may help neutralize the colors too. Just a thought.
So I'm happier with the wings now. The lines just flow better.
Might have to work on the lighter green on the left wing also.
Sorry bout the lack of details. It’s a 1/48 Hasegawa Arado 234 B-2
Wayn, I was wondering about that loco a while back. Good to see it it will get more bench time
Mustang, what scale and make is the Arado?
