Heya Ed. I'd like to join in with my Arado 234 that's been sitting around half finished for the last two years.

1. Hey 68 remember it was a shelf queen anyway and we are way harder on ourself than anyone else.
2. I like the pattern. the painting looks fine. no color edges i could see. i usually use silly putty or tape. no residue with either.
3. i like the Prinz Eugen picture for the boat badge.
Since i never know what i am going to here is entry no. 1 the HobbyBoss OTS (One True Scale aka 1/72) German Armored Locomotive. will not to the intricate camo but broad green and maybe some skinny brown highlights.
start point
PS yes i am bragging and surprised. My Holt 75 artillery tractor done up as a civilian took first i commercial and best of automotive at local contest. 4 other modes placed too. guess i am half way decent at this model stuff

It's just annoying cause I have to do it over. I should have traced the lines out with pencil first.
I never noticed any residue before with the 3M stuff. Sometimes it doesn't come off cleanly but you just use a blob of the putty to pick it up.
On Ed's bench, ???
68, I'm sorry to hear you are not happy with your camo pattern. I'm sure you'll get it sorted out.
I haven't used the 3M poster tack, but, I have used the Elmer's poster tack, which did leave a residue on the model after attempting to peal it off. It wasn't a big deal, but, I don't really want to deal with that again. How did you like the 3M?
Bruce
On the bench: 1/48 Eduard MiG-21MF
1/35 Takom Merkava Mk.I
I did some more painting of the camo on the A-1 yesterday but I'm really unhappy with the way the pattern looks from yesterdays work. I'm going to have to see what I can do to look better to me.
By the way I'm using 3M removable mounting putty for the edges of the camo pattern. It's like that blue tac stuff but made by 3M and it's a whitish color.

Did some paint on the A-1 today. The green on the wings is Bombshell Brew medium green where the lower part of the tail is the same color but Testots MM enamle. Before someone says thats bad, if its properly cured there is no problem. The darker green is Testors MM dark green. The geen on the wings should darken up once cleared.
modelcrazy Like them both but I like 2 better.
Like them both but I like 2 better.
Same here, I like the second.
While I'm on a role, I took inventory of the A-1 and started with the 3M tack for mask.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

While waiting for paint to dry I found a few ship photos and came up with these for a ship badge. Any opinions on which badge to keep for this shelf GB?
Sure, do you have any pics for us?
As for the badge I was thinking of adding a ship and an automobile one also. I just have to search around for a photo that has some cool factor to it.
I'm in with Tamiya's 1/350 Bismark. Could you add a badge for ships?
Finally making significant progress:
AA, nice job finding the part! So glad you did, brings all the (moj o) back to the build!
Edit: Not sure why (moj o) is blocked?
That stinks, how tough do you think it would be to scratch build something to go in there?
Well, crap! It seems I spoke too soon about the Pzkw. 1-B being intact, not missing any parts. I just discovered I am missing a major part, the lower front hull plate (Part 41 as shown in the photo). Can any fellow modelers help a brother out if you happen to have a spare one of these, or know smeone who does?
Jump right in I'll fill you into the roster when I get home from work.
Ed,
Could you go ahead and sign me up? Since I'm in a Mustang mood, put me down for a 1/72 Tamiya P-51. Your Skyraider is looking good.
Bruce,
Nice job on the Chi-ho! Congrats on getting it done.
Theuns,
Sorry to hear about the rear glass. You'll figure it out.
Ernest,
I like the look of your T-34. Can't wait to see more pics.
Badlanguage,
I was going to suggest you order some batted F-1s from Realspace Models, but you did a great job on those. You are correct about the SM's burning up over the Pacific.
Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.
Finally made some progress today on the Pzkw. 1-B:
Thanks, hogfanfs! We'll see how the rest turns out, hopefully not horrible. 68GT, it's funny to think that out of a massive ~360 ft tall rocket, only the command module was meant to be recovered (but not reused). The Saturn V's two lower stages went into the ocean, the upper stages are either still flying around the solar system or were crashed into the moon, the lunar module's descent stages are still where they landed on the moon, the LM ascent stages crashed into the moon, and the service modules burned up in earth's atmosphere (I think).
@badlanguage,
The foil on the engines turned out well. I'm looking forward to seeing more WIP pictures.
I never knew that these parts werent intended to be reused. I've always seen photos of this stuff on display with people standing next to them not thinking it was used and thats why it looked the way it did.
I going with it as is, so the rocket will basically be a pre-launch configuration. Everything on the Saturn V was basically 'use once and then throw away' so I'm going for a newish look for everything. We'll see how it all turns out...
Looks good!
I always say that some progress is always good progress. Are you going to paint or weather the engines at all or just calling it as is?
I actually have been working on my Saturn V. Still trying to get past the F-1 engines. They were just hard to get looking decent with the seam filling that needed doing. Here they are.
Then I remembered that all of the F-1's that flew had thermal protection (batting) on them! Time to hide the horrible seams! I 3D printed some blue things that I thought may look okay when covered with foil:
And added some wire where it needed (guesstimate):
And then aluminum foil.
Not perfect but good enough. Now I can get on with my life.
Nice job Bruce.
Ernest, there is a reason these are shelf queens.
Thanks for the kind comments, bufflehead. The bendy thing is a mount for a machine gun, that was conveniently omitted from the kit.
