So, since I'm building the Academy A-10 for the CAS GB I figured I would pull these two 1/72 derelicts out. The Revell one is a real dog and the Academy was in paint stages. I don't remember what the GB was but I was so tired with these that once the GB was over I just shoved them in a box.

Do you have plans for building more of these? With the lines it looks like it would be a good way to copy these for making more.

I have three more in the stash GT--one J and two C/D's. Probably will build them at some point. Maybe one more this year before I forget I made masks for them and lose the file! They really are nice kits if you don't mind putting in the effort to make 'em shine.

Rescribing is pretty much done so I took a break to contemplate masking the canopy.  After much trial and error I have made pretty good masks.

That's some thing I unfortunately don't have the patience for. If its a small area I'm okay but I just could never get myself to re-scribe a whole kit. I'm sure it will look great since it's basically a scaled down version of the 1/48 kit.

GT,    For 2021 sign me up for my 1/72 Monogram F-4J.  Marjor assembly was done. Then, I started filling, sanding, and re-scribing panel lines and that is when it got stuck on 'the shelf'.   Scribing should be finished soon.  Markings.... probably VF-31 mig killer but who knows....

I just fixed something cause it was auto linking (if such a thing) to the F-106 I built. I was thinking of pulling the roster and maybe moving that to the 1st post.  On the 2nd post I'm thinking of doing the completed builds by year. I'm still thinking this out as I'm typing.

Or you could just start a new thread / roster for 2021Wink

68GT
I can probably get the dates in there but will take some homework and some time. Should have done this from the start but wasn't thinking of this until mid last year.

GT, any way to divide up the roster by year and /or add  entry and  completion date to roster?

I'm not picky Steve so any of the will do. The most important thing is to try and get at least one of them done and have a good time.

Cool looking badge Ed. I want to join and finish a shelf queen ....... if I can figure out which one I call a shelf of doom build . Most of mine are ones I just put aside "for the moment"

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Looking good Rob, how do you plan on doing the masking? Stuffing the cab with tissue paper?

thats my usual method yes. Kit comes with masking for the windows (will leave the main ones off for now). Will also need to maks the engine (may use the optional bonnet sides for that and then the underneath - tissue or perhaps cling film for that

I am hoping this one will get completed in 2021... with my first piece of "proper" soldering I finished the cab. now need to mask everything up and protect the interior of the cab before I can start painting

I just realized I never posted the final pics, once I finally got the pilots done!  You can use the last one as the front page gallery pic.

Wow, those look awesome. I'd be proud to have those in my Agressor squadron Big Smile

I did one many years ago with a can of refrigerator white lacquer so it wouldn't yellow. Stupid me didn't prime and the paint job turned out like junk.

Actually the green is the second color. I originally painted it white like on the box (30 years ago) but it sort of dulled and yellowed with age and I decided I didn't like it white after all, so I changed to the green which was about 2 years ago. So I'm sticking with it.

Nice GTO Mark are you keeping with the green or changing up the color? I have a 68 Mustang that I'm working on and 10 years later I'm thinking of going with a different color is why I ask.
