Nice looking 106 Ed!
Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.
That F-106 is F-1 OK right there!

The Six is done.
On Ed's bench, ???
Ed,
Nice job on the Spit! Tamiya's gloss lacquers dry with a very smooth and hard surface. There's really nothing for the glue to bite into. When the Tamiya Gloss Lacquers came out, it was discovered that if you went back after a couple of weeks to apply more color coats or a gloss coat (like you could with enamel sprays), the new layer of paint would craze and crack as it dried because it had nothing to grab onto because the surface was so hard (they attributed the crazing at the time to the difference in drying rates when using Tamiya Gloss). The cars I usually build are pre-gloss coat from the factory, so going with a smooth color coat or buffing it out is correct for me.
lewbud - Thats too bad with the paint not sticking. You would think the lacquer would have enough bite to grab onto the glue.
After so many years the Otaki Spitfire Mk. VIII is done.
Cbaltrin,
Excellent job on the F-16. I hope your son likes it.
Badlanguage,
Nice job on the SatV!
Freem,
Looking forward to your build.
Haven't been around much or felt like modelling, but did sit down today and get the engine in the Mini. Having to go back and reassemble the rear end because Tamiya Gloss White lacquer doesn't provide a good bond with Testor's Orange tube glue. I knew better, but cut some corners trying to get it done in a weekend. Here's a pic of the engine installed.
More to follow hopefully.
Never met a Monogram kit I didn't like! I would have finished the 190 a long time ago, but I was going to try to detail the wheel well and some other things and it just took the fun out of it. Just gonna finish it and do a good job on seam work and airbrush work and have a nice one on the shelf. I feel like a kid again!
Yours look awesome CB! Better ramp up my game.
I still love the old Monograms to this day.
Nice Choice! I love the Monogram Fw190. Got it for christmas one year with the Monogram A6M Zero. Great memories. I was amazed at all the configurations and decals in the Monogram kit. One Day I want to build one for each marking option in he box! Here's two I build already...
On the Bench: Too Much
I'm jumpin back in with a Monogram FW-190 in 1/48 scale. It was part of a combat series and came packaged with the P-51B. There also was the P-47 Razorback with DO-335, and the Hurricane and Me-109. Built the P-47 and 335 for previous GBs. Anyway, since the 190 and P-51 were in the same box I decided to do the 51 as well. And since I also had the Pro Modeler 51B why not start it so I could compare the two 51Bs! The 190 I started about 5 years ago. and the P-51s
and the P-51s
Nick, I have you loaded into the roster with the Harrier so build away.
Excelant job on the Saturn V. I was wondering the other day is it was done or not.
We decided to let this GB roll for a while so If you have anything else jump right in again.
cbaltrin Real nice work there badlanguage! Built the monogram space shuttle about 30 yrs ago. That was my last spacecraft for some reason...

Thanks! I've actually been getting in to real space/realistic future space/realistic retro space models recently. I tend to cycle through genres.
Man that brings me back. I would ask my dad what with the black and white paint, he would say for the rate of spin measurements.
Nick.
And more...
Okay, lemme see if I can get some pics here.

So I got into this GB over a year ago, and then in traditional fashion I got distracted and built a different model - sending my Saturn V back to my shelf of doom. Well, since I've been on lockdown I've been getting after it. It's done, but I did take some pics along the way. I did miss some of the construction because I didn't realize til recently that the GB was still going on! Anyway, I've been failing at posting pics, but I'll get them up as soon as I figure it out.
I have his mongram av-8 since 1987 its been though 3 moves its time to build this box of stuff into an AV-8.
68GT Excellent! Thats going to be some happy Birthday Boy! Do you have a pic preference for up front?

Monogram F-16A Is Done!
The F-16 is really shaping up nicely and thats nice to know about the decals .
Well, I put the tires on in the hope that this project will now gain some traction.
68GT I guess the part I'm not getting is the glue transfer. So your saying the is enough glue on the paper to transfer onto the Monogram decals? Do you just wet the Taiya sheet enough the release the 190 decals?

Yes, that is correct. Plenty of glue still left on the Tamiya sheet after you remove all the decals.
Working on all the fidly bits. The birtday boy is going to be happy I think..
68GT cbaltrin 68GT, Thanks. I sacrificed a Tamiya Fw-190 decal sheet and used it's glue I'd like to learn more about this process is there a tutorial or video somewhere?
