Got a set of 1/350th armour and softskins for my LCT. They're MUCH better molded than the resin vehicles included with the kit. Will continue cleaning up the resin vehicles though, there's enough to use the best and consign the worst ones to the spare parts box. Think they're all correct for the Liberation of Phillippines setting.

Awsome Steve on the mastworks.

I got the same PE bender in my stocking as well.  Like Gamera, I'm still trying to figure out how to use it.  It will be better than my old method of using a razor blade and a bunch of dowels.

Steve: Wow, I think I have the same model of PE bender. Only I really haven't learned to use it yet. Or at least not that well. That mast looks incredible!

Scott, regardless of the color you end up with, it will turn out great.

This is where I am with the OHP. I received a PE bender for my birthday and WOW! I love it!! It's takes time to set it up and actually bent the PE but the results are amazing. Far better than bending with tweezers and then spending a while repairing the mess you just made. Where have you been all my life sweetheart?

Amazing, bend, bend, touch the glue and place where needed, done!

Aint they pirdy?

I will finish the Sprue can and OHP water at the same time. Saves time setting up and clean up of paining and adding the wake.

Don't think I've had paint freeze but had old stuff separate though. In any case good luck! I really like what you've got going so far!

Thanks everyone.

The yellow is actually more ocre than the photo depicts, but Steve it correct, it could use another toning down to be more a spar tan. I have been reading up on the mix between yellow, orange, white and brown and was going to use a formula based on  Vallejo color codes. However,  its been tough to get the Vallejo colors I picked up to mix as of late because they end up translucent and wanting to seperate. My fear is that the paint might have been exposed to freezing in shipment. I have had that happen before when ordering paints in the winter.

I had to switch to Modelmasters to paint the model.

Cheers,

Scott

Looks good Scott.

If you're going for the Great white Fleet, the yellow could use a little brown, just my opinion though. Kinda like the Coast Guard "spar" color. I've heard the Vallejo flesh tone approximates this pretty well.

Awesome work and painting.

Wondering if there is a ship building tutorial on the FSM site---

I am new to this ship modelling--

Andy

Not that I'm aware of. Is there a specific question or just steps in general? There is a massive amount of knowlage on the forums, especially in the ship area, but either I or others would be happy to answer anything you have.

I have been busy with painting this week.  A lot of masking for airbrushing and detail brush painting.  Its nice to paint a ship in something other that gray or blue.

Thanks for the encouragement Gam, MC, Joe, and Steve5. I used Tamiya Rubber Black paint and mostly Silly Putty to mask the areas directly around their bases. VMS Liquid Mask did the rest of the masking.

Nice progress on your seascape Admiral, and looking good!

Scottrc,

GMorrison's advice is really good.

Don't breath the dust! It's very fine and gets everywhere.

be carful of over preping the hull. It might produce more pin holes as you sand.

The casting looks really nice!

Steve, the blast bags look outstanding, keep going Capt.

Alright, working on several ships at a time. I feel like the Kaiser shipyard.

Heres the Spruance, water done and resdy for paint.

Next, my new Perry.
