Nice work on the Warthog, glad you finished it off!  Want me to add the first picture to the finished log?

Well it's a little late but I finally wrapped up the A-10. Not sure what will become of the 2 Phantoms but I think the one that the dog ate is toast.

Really ooking forward to the completion, it is one of my favorite aircraft ever since playing Silent Thunder way back when on my old Windows 95 PC.   (An A10 simulator game)

Too bad the Revelogram 1/48 kit swore me off of building one ever since.

Finally got some bright sun for a completion picture, never mind the chicken coop in the background.  It  was too cold for proper sheet placement!

68GT-the A-10 looks good-what kit & scale is your A-10?  I'll be following closely.

Its the 1/72 Academy kit.  It's not as good as their A-37 kit but much better than the Monogram/Revell kit.

Thank you-it will get added to my Hobby Lobby 40% wish list.

Bob, love the car, it turned out very great!  Thanks for joining and sharing it!  Any preference for the gallery?

Lostagain, that ship is fantastic.  All that resin casting you did took it to the next level.  Thanks for sharing it!  Do you have a photo preference?

68GT, agree with you, decal version 2 is the way to go.  The Warthog is really turning out well!

It's been a fun ride and thanks to all who made my first GB into a successful one!

68GT I agree, decals look too light. I bet they're close to the same color as your paint after looking at your postimg ones.

lostagain I love the Melbourne. PE was just the right add for it. Great finish.

Bob, great work on the Chevy, she looks really good, and very pumped. Sounds like some major surgery hidden under the hood!

Robert, the Freedom has come together really well, she looks very tidy and well detailed. The drone is cute!

Melbourne is done. Despite all the difficulties I made for myself, I am pretty happy with how she came out, including the scratch building and casting – still a lot to learn there too. One thing I didn’t get round to doing was putting a replacement nameplate on the stand – I was going to 3D print but the software made my head hurt …

Robert, thanks so much for running this GB which prompted me to step outside my comfort zone and have a go at a ship. Great to follow everyone else’s builds too, a lot of quality work and great tips to put into use later.

My life was put on hold for two weeks so this is where I'm at with the A-10.  I'm thinking the insignias ar too lite.

Robert-nice job on your ship-so much detail-very good build.

Finished up the Chevy today-first a couple of pics of the engine and interior

borrowed the seat belts from another AMT kit

I have some follow up on the rear end-fought with the rear bumper and valance panel-figured I needed a break after the CA failed the task.

Fit of everything reminded me of why I don't like AMT auto kits-great subjects but the fit on these older kits leaves a lot to be desired....I ended up bringing out the Dremel to clear out the firewall so the engine wouldn't interfere with the firewall/interior...but I happy with it as long as I don't raise the hood...

Robert-thank you for hosting this GB and for everyone's encouragement. A lot of outstanding builds posted here-hope to build with you guys again soon.

Cheers

Bob

Lostagain, I am greatly impressed by the ship!  It keeps getting better and better.

As for my own ship, I now call it complete.  Suffered a minor disaster my accidently dropping a CA bottle on one of the safety nets around the flight deck, but I just needed to glue it back in place.  The CA was conveniently close by.

The final 3 components, chopper, drone, and anchor, are all firmly in place.

A proper completion photo will be forthcoming, then on the shelf it goes!  After making room...

Mongoose-great job on the Viper-and the base tops it off.  Love the weathering.

Lost- the railing issue is a bummer but it looks great-very impressive.

Coming together quickly now, barring the usual stuff up or fat fingers on my part.
The bridge is on and the 02 deck railing is complete. The extra boat deck and extra railings on deck means some cannabalizing to stretch it far enough.

Frustratingly the railings on th estarboard side do not match up witht the torpedo tubes - I did look at chopping up what Academy supplied, but I don't have any spare to play around with, so it is what it is...

Bob, great to see the decals back, it is looking really good, gotta be happy with that recovery.

Mongoose, what a great build! The Viper is superb, the base has come up really well too The finish is great, details are great, like the humour of the rick and morty missiles and the touches of colour. The detail for the deck is great too – I like the angle cut at the edge of the deck.

The Melbourne is coming along well, but may cut into the extension time a bit though.
The boat decks were scratchbuilt on both sides; I used 0.6mm brass tube for the columns.

Then onto the PE; started with the railings on the masts and bridge and putting the radar together.

And started on the 02 deck; all the deck furniture went on, much of it specific to the RAN ships. Also got some of the railings going too.

Glamdring

That is Phenomenal, Mongoose!  Thank you for joining and sharing it!

Is the base premade or did you put it together too?

thx glamdring! Yes, i built the base myself. Got some directions from a buddy over in Louisville. I drilled holes for the padeyes. Used 80 grit sandpaper for the deck. Designed the deck markings in Silhouette designer from pics off the Boxer. Then cut them out if frisket paper and used those to do the paint work.

ok the Viper is all done. I finished up the base this week and we had a little sun todayin Cincinnati so I grabbed some pics. My accessories haven't even gotten on the water yet from Europe so I'm calling this finished for the group build. The base represents the USS Boxer

and let's use this one with Missile Rick grinning at everyone for the front page

Decals on today...again.  Fortunatly, there was a duplicate of the 'Mr. Chevy' on the Slixx sheet and I have more than enough drag racing kits/decals in the stash.  Should be able to get a Matt coat on tomorrow and then some light dot filtering w/oils on Wed.  Really want to get this one done on time..but...Robert, thank you for the extension...things happen...

Lostagain, The Melbourne looks great, most impessive!

We are in the homestretch guys!  7 days left.   Funny how fast a year can go....

If you aren't done by 11:59 on 3/1, don't sweat it, I'll give some leeway to any active projects.  Yes

Robert, Mongoose & Lostagain-thank you.

Lostagain-the Melborne is looking good-I haven't built up the courage to attempt a ship in that scale...actually, a ship in any scale....and I'll add your Vallejo mixing tips to the list.

Ah Bob, that is such a pain for you losing the decals, but you have turned it around very nicely there. Personally I live in fear of chrome trims and will cross the road to avoid them, so I reckon that is great work there.
And then the Chevy got rusty – that is super!

Tomcat, good recovery to get to the finish line – yep the result was not what you wanted but you got a good model you can put on the shelf with the right side out…

Mongoose, interesting using the X20A with Vallejo. For their metallics I use 1 drop Vallejo retarder, and 1 drop their thinner to 10 drops paint and it has been good so far. I will give your mix a go.

And after your comment about the helo deck decal, I thought I should look for your build – found yours and Steve’s over in the US ship GB. Should have looked earlier, following your builds could have saved me some pain…

The Melbourne? Fourth refill, resand and repaint of the superstructure joint and finally happy – I have to be ‘cos I am virtually out of my paint mix for the project. I learnt from other’s misfortune and kept the tape away from the decals…

The bridge is coming together too, just propped in place here, but good to see some progress.
