Repairing my deck right now. Feel a bit like BK and Steve with the house projects. I did get some primer on the road wheels and a few parts glued together on the Panther but nothing worth showing yet. Probably be at that point after Nationals given everything going on.
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
Nothing like working on a 1:1 scale house. I have one on my bench continuously and get some progress on it on occasion. The problem is...it's never complete.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Sorry I haven't been very active. Since we bought the house and moved I have had to repair most of the walls and corners due to cracks. That was a ton of drywall work. Then i primed and painted the entire inside of the house. I made numerous repairs to many things and we recarpeted the whole home. I then built a new fence around the back yard for my dogs to have space to run and frolic. Now I am finally working on finishing the basement with drywall, tape and texture, paint and trim work. When this is done I will have a new hobby room to work in that is 11x22, outside ventilation and great lighting. I love that I can design this room to meet my needs for modeling. I will post up some pics as I progress. I hope to have this all done by the end of August and then I will whip out my SS kit and start building again. I am totally dying to build right now.

On the bench:
A lot !! And I mean A LOT!!
2024 Kits on deck / in process / completed
14 / 5 / 2
goldhammer Seems like most will assemble the hull and turret, paint each as a subassembly. Paint the road wheels and tracks off, along with the tools, etc. Then final assembly.

No from me brother, I have little clue on tanks and muddle through myself.
Time to pull my secret santa gift, no gifts!, out My F's are done so next up on the bench is the Panther and crew. This will be my 1st real tank. I built an Airfix male tank years ago but they areso small and don't involve any road wheels or details that it doesn't count lol That said I could use some advice on assembly. I understand a lot of guys do all the assembly and then paint when it comes to armor. Being used to aircraft and ships painting individual pieces has been the norm for me. any advice guys?
castelnuovo Dear secret santa, you are absolutelly AMAZING! Arrived today Thanks a million

Same here. I am currently building SBD Dountless for the Close Air Support but this one is next.
Sweet!
That is awesome!
The ones that sign up for this GB are the most amazing and generous people on this old rock.
Santa has a special place today.
That detail work is fantastic!

"I can't get ahead no matter how hard I try, I'm gettin' really good at barely gettin' by"
Thank guys! Im glad I can finally concentrate on the exterior.
Excellent detail work, Chad. You are really bringing this one to life.
I love that Chad, especially the oily rag!
Finally getting some bench time. Got the empty storage containers filled with stuff now it's time to close the hull. Tarp and maintenance rag made from Milliput along with some Tamiya Jerry cans and a big pair of snips.
This whole build is about the joy of giving and not really about the building. We have had many kits that just went unfinished due to this reason and some due to not wanting the kit. It's okay, I can't build 1/72 either, just too small for me now. I think most of us really enjoy the hunt for the kits and the joy we see when the giftee gets it. Whether or not they get it built up is really not that important.
Given the reactions and unbuilt kits I've seen over the last few years I am going to start making it more clear that we all do our level best to fill the giftee's request and not go off scale or subject, this is where things have gone wrong I believe. This coming season we will fine tune the rules a touch to make this even better.
Oh man castelnuovo I'm sorry to hear that. Glad though that you can build the larger scales and planes and still enjoy your hobby. Sounds like you really gave it a try in the spirit of things and that's great.
I am sorry secret Santa, whoever you are...But I just can't built your gift.
I was happy when I received it, I was happy when I opened it. But when I tryed to built it, I just can't. You see, I asked for 1/48 but received a 1/72. OK. A 4 engine bomber would be ok because it is big in that scale ( I have built a Lancaster and a C-47), but this small fighter is really, really small in this scale. With my trembling hands I can't built it, I just can't hold the pieces and put them toghether. Maybe I should have specified why 1/48 is important. Thank you anyway. No hard feelings.
So if somebody wants this on, just PM me your address. If you pay the shipping, thanks.
That looks really good, Robert. Looks like you have the cat by the tail now.
Oh my, some detective work there.
Finally cracked the code on the turret to eliminate most of the gap. Took prying the gun off the bottom half, gluing it to the top half, then slowly shaving and trimming the unaligned spots.
Should be smooth sailing now !
BK that is a great looking view, a real slice of heaven. No worries about the fertilizer, if they just spread cow manure, the smell will last a day, just until it dries out. It's hog manure that lingers, for some reason. (My parents operate a farm that raises both)
I spent my weekend building the big gun. I was very grateful a metal barrel was with the kit.
I thing this was another 15 or so parts that had align perfectly. Just have one small gap to fill in on the enclosure that covers the brass tube.
And yes, I included the spring so the gun will recoil.
I tried assembing the turret with the gun installed, but somthing is not alligned on the gun. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is hitting top half of the turret.
Nice view BK. Even if that's a corn crop it won't obsure it. I just hope you don't have to smell the cow compost, if they're using it.
All you have to be concerned about now is the Yellowstone super volcano. But if it goes off you won't have to worry for long. The rest of us will have to suffer.
