Martin, I got the Airfix K2 kit today.  I see the kit decals are for XH669 for Black Buck, I'll leave that one to you and I will do a 55 Sqdrn K2, XL189.  Hopefully it's just a different tail number and fin insignia.

Here's a 55 Sqdrn web page that has a nice description of the Victor Falklands operations, and a good overall article on Black Buck.  I may be preaching to the choir here!

And the kit:

Not quite, completly new nose of the FA.2.

And I found a FRS.1 in the back of the fridge, so that'll do. Same true scale, Airfix.

Martin, I hope the two Matchbox K2's I put on eBay sell, because I ordered the Airfix K2.  Sign me up.

Bish I'm in. I have been waiting for this GB for some time, since you mentioned it a few years ago.

I couldn't find any of the ships I wanted, or a 1/72 Super Etendard so I ordered a 1/72 Modelsvit 1/72 Mirage III/EA. It's markings and weapons load are from the Falklands War.

I't should be here by the time your GB starts.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

My kit is a FRS.2 but other than the dashboard it should be the sameas a FRS.1, no?

Also have an A-4P but I never liked the Argie camouflage, looks like sh*t.

Chad, I may have some decals for you left over from the first Airfix kit.

I enjoyed this last time, built a Special Hobby Pucara.

I hate to commit to something if I can't finish, but I do have a Harrier,

Airfix 1/72.

Its the MD300. I did e-mail them last year and Neil said they are redoing the kit as 3D printed. i would imagine with whats being going on this last year, things have fallen behind a bit. They have been releaseing a few kits recently so i am hopeful the tractor will be here soon. I can always do the dio and just leave a space for the tractor.

That would be Neil Gaunt, Martin.  He is a member of a groups.io I am a member of.  What is the tractor?

I can't blame you there John. I was tempted to get the Revell kit at one point, but when Airfix brought out the bomber, i knew it would be wise to hold out.

I am hoping to start mine early on, but i am still waiting on a UK company called Aircraft in Miniature to re-release the tow tractor that was used.

The Revell kits are indeed both K2's.  I'm just not willing to suffer through the Matchbox kits when the Airfix K2 is available.

Will be glad to have you both on board guys.

The AFV Club Scimitar does need some modification to make it sutable for the falklands. Fortunatly a few years back i came across a UK company that sells lots of CVR(t) AM sets, including a backdate one and a Falklands conversion.

John, i thought the matchbox/Revell kit is a K.2, i am not aware they ever did a bomber version. Though i don't think they come with markings for Black Buck missions as the Airfix kit does.

I plan to pick up the Airfix Vulcan too, I have the Victor and the Valiant already.  Airfix knows how to extract money from my back pocket!

The Victor I have is not the K2 kit, I have two of the Revell issues of the Matchbox kit but I'm going to eBay them and get the Airfix K2.  I'm thinking about joining with it.

I will gladly join this, but I must scour the stash for something fitting.  The only kit I know I had was the AFV Club Scimitar, but  that was built years ago.

Worst case, I will troll Ebay to try and find a hot deal on something.

Welcome aboard guys. I'll get the roster updated soon.

RG, i was thinking of holding out in the hope Airfix release a new boxing with the BB markings, i am guessing it will be next year.

Not all of the Vulcans carried Shrikes, it was only on BB 4, 5 and 6. I just wasn't sure if there any any other external changes. I know all the aircraft used had the Olympus 301 engines. I am not sure what engines would be in the aircraft in the new airfix kit and if there is any external differance anyway.

OK, Bish, you're gonna have to stop it. Your group builds are just too interesting and I'm such an easy mark. I have this Airfix 1/48 kit someone gifted me. The decals don't look too good so I guess I'm going to have to find some online. Put me in coach.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

Chad - I think the new Airfix kit will have one anti-flash white and one early camo marking option, but not Black Buck.  I think I have seen something over on Britmodeller about the Black Buck Vulcan being a possible later reboxing.  Did all BB mission Vulcans carry Shrikes?

Bish - I never finish anything, but I have had the Kinetic 1/48 kits of the Harrier Gr.3 and the Pucara sitting on top of the pile, beckoning me.  Okay, I'll throw in with the Pucara!  The Harrier will be for later, assuming I finish the Pucara.

Right now it looks like the only two schemes will be anti-flash white and blue steel.  If they don't include a Falklands bird, kits-world decals make a very comprehensive set for the Black Buck Falklands campaign.

Falklands War 40th Anniversary GB
Posted by Bish on Friday, February 19, 2021 4:27 PM

10 years since the last Falklands War GB to mark 30 years, its time for another to mark the 40th anniversary. This GB comemorates the Falklands War which ran from 2nd April to 14th June 1982. Eligable for this build is anything that toook part in the war itself, from either side, whether directly involved in the military campign or indirectly in a supporting role.

Any scale, British or Argentinian.

Air, Land or sea

As well as forces engaged on, over and around the Falklands, also included are forces engaged on S Georgia, the S Sandwich Islands and those stationed on Ascension.

OOB or as much AM as you want.

As usual, plenty of progress pics.

Partly started kits are allowed as are cross overs.

The GB will run from April 2nd 2021, 39 years since the start of the conflict, until 14th June 2022, 40 years after it ended. So the GB will run for 1 year and 74 days.

There is lots of info out there for subjects that were involved, but if your not sure, please just ask.

Just a single badge for this GB, please feel free to use it once you have completed your first build.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
