Lol, thanks, I'll need it. Flying out tomorrow but Lufthansa canceled the flight, they will take us to Frankfurt, then mad run to catch a flight to Toronto then somehow to Vancouver. Fun way back to reality.

It is by Trumpeter. Sorry for the late reply, when one is chillin' on a beach in Dubrovnik, drinking beer and enjoying the sceenary, modeling kind of falls into second plan Smile

Hi Castelnuovo,

Grizzly is starting well, who makes the kit?

The Winjeel is coming along slowly due to work and other stuff

The white was masked up for orange:

Then the orange went on:

First try at the aluminium wasn't so good:

Second is better:

Animalistic

PJ, fantastic work on Mary the Mustang. There is superb work wherever I look. The cockpit, the checkerboards, the fine cockpit framing, the base, the drop tank, the metal finish it’s all great.

JB, your Mustang is looking great too. Nice detail in the cockpit and great work on the preshade and olive scheme.  Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Castel, super work on the Birddog. Love the scheme you have chosen, not going to miss that one! Great interior too.

Cbaltrin, the Super Bee is coming along well, love the look of the metallic finish.

Update on the Winjeel, the canopy is masked and in place

Then the frame painted black.

The initial coat of grey primer showed up lots of pinholes in the wings that needed filling and sanding.

And then the Tamiya spray can white went on, showing up a few corrections required, including more pinholes, this time in the wing roots and leading edges.

Hi there, Castel,

I would like to join your group build if possible.  I'm not sure what I will be building, but will be looking through the stash this week.  I'm thinking about a 1/48th scale P-51 Mustang of some kind.  Or the newish Revell 1/32nd scale P-51D?  Decisions, decisions!!

Thanks,

Dave

2022 New Year's Resolution:  Enter 1 group build and COMPLETE a build this year!!  Why Photobucket did you rob me of my one Group Build Badge???  Must be part of the strong anti-Monogram cartel!!!

Photographed the Mustang out in natural light this morning to capture some of the Alclad metallic reflectivity that is present but subtle consistent with weathering in an operational combat aircraft.

Mary is finally completed. The yellow stripes on the iron bombs were hand painted. I may add a standing pilot later on just to add some interest in the vignette. Please use the 6th picture for the completed page.

Great job on the Bird Dog Castle, it's nice to see subjects that don't pop up all the time.

Such as a P-51.....Embarrassed

I got all the painting and decals on this weekend.

The reference I had doesn't show white stripes on the tail even thought most of the 51's seemed to have them.

the Miss Dallas decal seemed a little large but I think it looks okay.  The Decals are a mix of Kits World, Academy and Airfix.

Hope to get finished next weekend.

Can't wait to see the final color you choose!

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list, we're down to a Monogram 1/72 SR-71 and that Tamiya P-38F/G to use the other nose art Exito Decal (in-flight for this one), & in keeping with MC's hydra theory I bought another F-5E to do in FROG camo! And I just got a Trumpeter 1/32 F/A-18F!

If anybody colides with this one, he/she can't say "I didn't see it" Smile

Nice little kit this one, all went together well. The only problem was not with the kit but with my shaking hands

Why British markings? Because the decals provided were of such a poor quality that they were falling appart as they were separating from the sheet. So I found some old decals, correct or not, here it is

JBRaider , P-51B is coming along well. Can't start my Airfix P-51D yet, or my updates might get lost in the sea of other P-51 updates ;-P

Looking good gents, great looking bunch of models.

So the kit has extra tanks and some nice 500 lb. bombs that would look good in a vignette setting so I had an old picture frame to use for the base, some Sculptamold and water to make a tarmac. Taped up the edges to protect the wood.

The Sculptamold was mixed and poured, smoothed out and expansion joints added.

Then craft acrylics were used to paint and drybrush the tarmac. Oil stains were added.

Figuring out positioning things. The disposible paper tanks and bombs need paint and decals.

Brake lines were also added to the main landing gear.

Been away most of the year and trying to get caught up on everythng. Alot of nice builds with subject that you don't see a lot of.

It has been a slow start to the year for me with this only being my 2nd build so far

I started on the Academy P-51 with an Eduard set for the cockpit. It is a lot of work and while it looks okay my PE skills are lacking.

The kit went together well and I was able to get the primer, preshade and base coats on this last week

Noticed a seam that needs to be taken care of on the bottom

Hoping to get the white stripes and the decals on this weekend.

Cracked open the 1/48 Tamiya P-51B Mustang and did a bit of black basing for the cockpit.  Interior green comes next

Thanks,

John
