i have been using the nail polish remover trick 4 some of the areas on this model,

and thanx 2 matrixone (how r u doing these days?) & Lucien (that front wheel is wacky,
the landing gear, wheel & tire r all one single piece, yikes !), i'll keep on working on it !

Dito, Frosty, your project is getting shape as well. I've always liked those Horten-projects, even today they look futuristic. I wonder how well they would have flown, maybe I'll build an R/C version one day.

More news, I've justed started working on one the two tiny motors for my 1/72 Pfeil.

What's this? Am I reading this right? A motorized Do 335? Very nice. I can't wait for pictrues of THAT! (I've been known to let a Do 335 in the GB before, you know...) Good luck with both projects!

They need to get more DCM-166 motors in at allelectronics.com so I can order them, glue them in, wire them, close up the looooooooong wing and be done with it. (Still awaiting paint for the interior.)

No, the Pfeil won't be motorized, I was talking about the scale models of the actual engines. I guess I should have used word "engine" rather than "motor"
Both of the engines of the Pfeil are reproduced in this Dragon, kit, for the front engine there are even PE-parts for the wiring.

Did I have a bad moment today...

Last night I gave the P-194 it's top-site base coat, this morning I did the masking for the splinter camo, all was well.
After removing all the masking tape, I saw that I needed to redo the underside, ok, no prob.

I just removed the masking and discovered that had sprayed to steep into the softmask (between top and bottom) so that I now have a hard line between the two colors Angry [:(!]

I really don't feel like starting all over again, so I'll just mask and make a hard demarcation line between them.

UPDATE :

Do you know what the advantage is of having modeled for almost 20 years without an AB ; if you don't feel like it, you don't need no mask and AB Big Smile [:D]

That's what I did, I solved the problem the old fashioned way, so there goes my blues again, and here are the happy times Big Smile [:D]

The first shows the result of reworking the "soft" transistion between top and bottom, I tapped the transistion on it with a paintbrush.

And on the second one you can see the splinter scheme...

You can clearly see (on both pics) that I'm in desperate need of some lessons in photography. Smile [:)]

DanCooper- It's looking good! The transition line looks like it came out nice. I would think it makes more sense, too. The Germans wouldn't really have the time for a nice paint sceme, and slapping it on with old paintbrushes wouldn't be out of the queston (I think). And don't worry about the photography skills. It looks fine from where I'm at! (Have you tried taking pics under natural light? It seems to get better results for me.)

Nothing new for me on the Zwilling, but I did come up with another hairbrained sceme for another time:

Nice twins, you've got there, wooverstone, what kits do you use ?

Here is my progressreport for today ;

- last night, finished with a gloss clear cote,
- today ; decals applied on top and bottom...

In case you wonder ; the decals went on very fine, the only thing is that for the smaller decals the adhesive seems not very strong with a small surface.
I only used Micro Sol, just to soften thing up a little.

Next job ; accentuating the pannellines with an acrylic wash...

Before I found this kit was thinking about combining two kits, but it would’ve been a huge challenge for me--I would have never finished it. Then I discover this kit. Lol this one was difficult all by it's self, but I had fun building it though.

Dan The BV looks great. Those Revell Luft'46 kits are excellent, I did their Ar 555 last year, and was surprised at just how good the kit was. I can sympathise on the masking, I have just had the self same thing happen on my PZL!

Wooverstone The 109Z is coming along nicely, keep us posted on the progress.

Frosty That Horten is really looking great, it looks like you've been seriously busy with the putty!

As for me, I've done nothing on my Ta183, so no change there then.

Wooverstone, I didn't even know there was a kit for a 109Z out there. A while back I saw a conversion set for (I believe) two hasegawa 1/48 kits. The set alone costet about 70$ or so.

wooverstone8- The build is looking pretty nice! What did you have in mind for camo?

DanCooper- I agree with KJ200, that plane is looking like it's coming along very well. I always think the best part of building a model is when the decals go on. It actually looks like an airplane, then!

Speaking about Zwillings, I remember a 1/72 He 111Z at my "local" (half an hour away...) hobby shop. I have no idea if it's a total kit, though, or just the center wing of a conversion set. The box seemed a little skimpy... I may look into that once the bigger Zwilling's finished.

Good job so far on a very interesting model.

That BV P194 looks very good with its markings in place, looking forward to seeing the finished model.

My Ta 183s will be finished Sunday, I am fitting the smaller parts now such as the D/F loop, pitot tubes, and boarding step right now and the clear flat coat and canopys will be added tomorrow morning.

After I clean the work table off I will start work on the Revell Lippisch P-13, I had planned on building a BV 155 as well but this week UPS brought my kits I had ordered a while back and one of those kits is the Tamiya Do 335 B-2. This kit is so good I really can't wait to start on it so the BV 155 will have to wait a few more weeks/months until this Do 335 Zerstorer is done. These new Tamiya and Hasegawa kits are really quite good and should be fun to build, the only Tamiya kit that I have built so far has been the 1/48 scale Kubelwagon and that was the best fitting kit I have ever built, I expect the Do 335B-2 will be as good.

Last night I was able to get a total of five complete cowlings installed and two partial cowlings. The last two are the ones I plan to leave open, to the interior of all the pieces needed a coat of silver. (A paint I have, and one that looks decent enought handbrushed.) The cowlings come in four pieces, one upper half, two lower quarters, and the ring around the front. The No. 1 engine has just the upper half and ring attached (the lower quarters both being open), and the No. 2 engine has the upper half, ring, and inside (facing the fuselage) quarter attached, leaving the remaining quarter for display. The last engine (No. 8) has yet to be covered. Hopefully I'll get some pics reletively soon, and an updated sig pic.

I'll need to paint and install the propellor shaft/cooling fan units before I close up the wing and do major paint work on the outside, which translates to a pain-in-the- Censored [censored]

, but necessary, masking situation. I may elaborate more once pics are available.

All the cowling pieces (except for the ones intenitionally left open, that is) are now in place. I had to sand down a few of the blades on the fans so they can spin cleanly, but really no suprises.

I may be forced to shell out a couple more bucks for motors. The original ones I wanted still aren't in yet, and the only other alternative, though smaller, cost a bit more.

But, there is some good news. The cost of eight of them (w/ shipping) is the same as buying ten, shipping also included. So, of course I'm getting ten of them! Wink [;)]

Then I'll have two extra for another future project!

Some more pretty good news- today is my birthday, so hopefully I'll get some $$$$$$ for a regulator, paint, thinner, and whatnot, so work can continue on the interior! (Finally!)

Ah, spinner issues. Welcome to the club! As it stands, I need to send in for two of them after a loss issue, and then a destruction issue when I tried to vac-form a new one. Once was enough for me, so I just gave up and decided to order some more.

Nice pics, matrix, and thanks everyone for congratulations. Thankfully I got a regulator for a present (WOO HOO!), along with a few other nifty movies, "Saving Private Ryan" and "Band of Brothers". Now, as I see it, I need paint, thinner, and some airbrush practice, so the fuselages should hit the piant shop in say, oh, a month. (Simple to begin with. Overall silver/aluminum interior with two masked RLM 66 areas. Details will be handbrushed, along with a wash. Not to mention about 60 detail pieces that need a 66 coat themselves. I'll give 'em one thing, Revell Germany sure didn't spare any parts for the interior! I just hope I can do it justice...)

That BV P194 looks really sharp, hope you can locate another spinner for it, as a last resort maybe get one of the Revell 1/72 scale Fw 190 kits and ''borrow'' the spinner from it!

I was browsing the Luft46.com page when I discovered Junkers had a design for a "unnamed" ground attack aircraft.
Does the frontview of this aircraft remind you of another "ground attack aircraft" that was built more then 20 years later ?

Dan, it certainly does have A10 overtones, just need to move those engines a little higher and back onto the fuselage.

Hm. Good point made about the A-10 / Luft '46 project. You think the designers (of the A-10) were history buffs? Makes ya think...

I hooked the regulator up to the compressor and airbrush to give it a "dry" (I used water) run. The verdict- encouraging. I can't wait until I get some paint through that thing! (Until I have to clean it, that is.)

Do you know this little plane...

It's the Henschel Hs132, or it would have been, if it had ever reached production faze.
As far as I know, there is no kit available for it, but I'm playing with the idea of scratch-building it ; now that would be my first scratch-build-project.
