Ray, mate yeah i do find it easier to add a preshade i don't seem to have any problem with A/B control so i can get the preshade fairly even from colour to colour but i still add a wash to the panel lines after the decals go on

when is the cut off date for this build now? I knew there was an extension just didn't know till when...

The Story of Why I Ask:

Yesterday and today I was in rare form... blazing away putting decals on, the AM set even came with decals for the bombs and arrestor hook! They were all getting snugged down fine, no probs whatsoever... till today I noticed one of my wheels turned ever so slightly (bulged tires so it was an obvious thing) so I had to cut it off, drill a new hole and it is drying as I speak. Everything else is going hunky dory though! I should have it done by weeks end at latest... need to put on the bombs, the flaps (a chore in itself) and dull coat it and put the canopy on... not a lot!

Just after today's setback I feel kinda down about it... it all went together so good... so many new things I tried and liked on it... but oh well all's well that ends well... the wheel is back on and only a few things left to do!

I need to remember to go order me a dash-3 kit off squadron... the AM SBD-3 kit is discontinued now... just found it out... the dash-2 and dash-5 are all that is left!

Tom the cut off date is the end of JanWith the bulged tyres i normally use super glue and stick both wheels on, then before the glue dries i'll stick it on the bench and make sure the flat spot is in the correct position, you have about 10 sec to get em right before the glue dries.......Even with OOB wheels i sand a flat spot in the tyres

BTW my Hellcat will be finished by the end of the Week.............

Jules, I might start doing that... I don't think it moved during drying... I dunno what happened... I'll blame it on gremlins for now! (It was fine the last 3 days then today it was off!)

ain't it a shame scott? Mines over on the hobby desk lying on it's back like yesterdays roadkill. looks like the minor surgery I had to do on it worked... should be able to finish a lot tonight then be ready for the finishing touches and pics at least by the weekend...

hello fellows!!! haven't been to the old NA GB in a while, been getting moved. ray, SWEET lookin' corsair my friend!! i got my computer set up, now i'm just brainstorming on how to get my hobby up and running again. good to "see" you fellas again!! later.

Ok so i've just given the Hellcat it's final coat of pledge one go before the decals go on so i'll take a pic of the camo job before i decal and post it up tommorrow......

Ok here's that pic of the F6 i was going to take a pic without any decals but one thing led to another while i was waiting for the Batts to chargeand i stuck a couple on........

looking good Jules! I guess I'll have to take a pic of mine in it's sort of middle of the road state right now.. gonna get some building done today... if the new puppy allows!

BTW i think i've mentioned it before but i kinda always repeat myself anyways............Very cool Martlett your doing for the BoB GB I'm thinking of doing one for the Pearl harbour GB as well as the Zero, probably from the same SQD that yours will be from, most definatly the same Carrier.........Oh yeah don't tell Kremps but i think this whole Hellcat Wildcat Martlett thing is ropeing me in......

Thanks DanielI used the paints that you advised me to use a while back, Gunze colours top to bottom, I think there the same colours you used on your F6......

I can't help but to love a bird from the "iron works"!

lookin' good so far Jules!! i broke out my SBD and Corsair yesturday from storage, the Corsair is all but complete, and the SBD is ready for paint. i checked on the price of a CO2 bottle and about fainted!! it may be a couple of more days before i get the airbrush goin'. later.

well I've been sick all week but still at a near completion point... tidbits and dullcoat is all that it lacks... hope to have it showing on Sat!

Looking forward to your pics Salty! and hope you get that airbrush goin soon!

Hi guys. All of you have done some great work. I've never joined a group build and would like to know it works. I have a 1/48 Has. F6F-5(N), 1/48 AMT/Ertl F7F-2(N)(minus cockpit),1/72 Has. EP-3E Orion(planning on it being P-3C of VP-49),and a 1/542 Revell USS Saratoga CV 60.

Allen, gotta type this in a hurry as the missus is screaming to me the TV show is on.. (dont wanna make her mad, she is working on her second black belt)

This GB just ended... or does tomorrow... basically a group build is a bunch of people getting together and building around a certain subject.. like WWII Navy fighters, USN Aviation in general etc... no competition... just good times and posting pics of your build along the way if you feel like it... I learn a lot from them. I see a pic and say "Hey... I like the way that looks" and ask about it.. and you seem to make a lot of friends too..

The Pacific group build is going on which would include your F6F if you would like to join it.. I had too much going on to join up but all the same there is time for you!!!

OK fellas i'll have some pics up tonight of the F6F-3 all finished and i have to say i think this is my best build yet

Sadly I got caught up in real life and another build yesterday so MAYBE I will have pics tongiht, if not I will complete it anyway and have it as a late submission...

Well i'm finished, more or less, just a couple of minor things to do like add the lights and gunsight, regretably i couldn't repair the damaged canopy and it still looks a little cloudy.........
Ok so here is one pic, it's a little crappy but once i finish off properly i'll try and get some better shots

looks great Jules! Mine is going to be a late submission as I didn't get home till late today, when I did I realized my roof was leaking so I had to try and solve that... long day and no modeling... hope tomorrow is better!

Tom, honestly, i would do a roof eeeeeeeevery now and again just to remind myself why i didn't do roofs!!!LOL now, the heaviest tool i pick up is a cell phone!! and "The Money Pit" was a classic!! i LOVE that movie!!

anyway, i think i will slip over to the BOB GB and see whats goin' down. i think i'm jinxed, everytime i join a GB, something tends to screw up. i still haven't finished my Pony for the Mustang Ranch GB, and my 2 for this GB. although all 3 are just a fudge from being done. oh well, no more GB's for me for a while. later.
