Tom,
I think our wifes have a conspiracy going. Seems mine too has had an urge to "dust" my -5 and low and behold, the radar ariel and left dive flaps are missing.Laugh [(-D]

I sure do love that color blue on the -3.

Well, I've been super busy at work so I still havn't had a chance to get my pictures sent off to be processed. I hope maybe this weekend.

Scott

I saw one of those new Goerge H.W Bush Avengers at a hobby shop the other day. It was sitting there with the new SBD-2 'midway' dauntless, teasing me with it's $70 dollar price tag. I'd love to buy one or both of them but my weekly pittence won't afford it (I need a job).

That wiring harness on the AM dauntless is a bit too thick, but it's a lot better than what most other manufacturers offer in their kits. AM's attention to detail is the best I've seen from any company. The dauntless is an awesome kit, and the cockpit is as good as any aftermarket one I've seen. Definitely worth the price.

Ahhh it's an Accurate Minatures kit.........I've heard the AM Avenger is one hell of a kitApprove [^]I wouldn't mind getting me one of those AvengersTongue [:P]and it would probably be cheaper than the Trumpeter 1/32 kit not to mention i't in 48 my favourite scaleWink [;)]
BTW i had a 2nd look and maybe the wiring is a little thick but i wouldn't worry about it cause it still looks bloody fantasticThumbs Up [tup]Big Smile [:D]

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] Daniel, Maybe we could go for a US Navy Carrier A/C WW2 GB, Keep em all blue...

Tom your SBD is coming along splendidlyThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]looking forward to seeing it not quite as shinyWink [;)]

speaking of SBD's... here's mine about 85% complete... the canopy is just resting on the fuselage unglued... most weathering on front cowling is done, need to add a little on the wings and side fuselage and blend better on the cowling.. (just got my whitish grey chalk and have to add the exhaust streak in that... nopticed it on the reference photos and confirmed it on an online discussion that on several USN aircraft the exhaust staining was whitish grey...)

it's really shiny with future right now but will be able to dullcoat it this week. BTW that's not a dive brake from this build sitting on the library table.. it's from the SBD-5 that my wife dusted... Disapprove [V]

---edit---

oh yeah, and paint the tires.. glad I took pics, I had forgotten I decided to scrape them a bit more... Whistling [:-^]

Scott... hopefully this weekend I will get my SBD finished. it is just waiting on some small things... and after erverything was dry I noticed one of my landing gear was a little off of the other one.... I think it was you asking questions about that.. I didn't have trouble on either of the dash-5 kits like that...

looking forward to pics!!! and agreed, this WAS fun!!! (torn decal and all haha)

Nice Hellcat, you Aussies sure can build some fine looking models.

This was fun guys, I havn't gotten the time to take any pics yet due to being on the road a lot for work. But when I get back home I will get some made of the Wildcat and SBD.

Best regards,
Scott

stick around here and ask questions Dan and in a few MONTHS you can having it looking near as good! This place will help you a lot if you listen and ask questions... Jules does do a mighty fine job on his aircraft, I do have to agree........

Dan, Toms right these forums can dramatically improve you modelling skills, on this kit i used 3 new techniques that i learned from other members, i was having a lot if trouble getting the framing on my canopies nice and crisp and was advised to use BMF to mask them with, and the result, well i couldn't have asked for crisper canopy frames.
The other 2 were using blue tac to mask the model and running the knife down the panel lines over decals to get the wash to stay thereBig Smile [:D]
Oh BTW i used Gunze paints throughoutWink [;)]

Daniel you were right the Has Hellcat is one sweet kit, i had absoulutly no problems with any part of it and i used no filler at allThumbs Up [tup]
Hmmm i may have to get me another oneTongue [:P]
Oh yeah the decals are OOB and they responded brilliantly to setting soloution.......
BTW did i spell soloution wrongQuestion [?] hang on Solotioun nup, Ahh solution, thankyou collins pocket dictionary.......Us QLD boys may not speel taht wlel but we srue can paly fotoyWink [;)]

Tom, honestly, i would do a roof eeeeeeeevery now and again just to remind myself why i didn't do roofs!!!LOL now, the heaviest tool i pick up is a cell phone!! and "The Money Pit" was a classic!! i LOVE that movie!!

anyway, i think i will slip over to the BOB GB and see whats goin' down. i think i'm jinxed, everytime i join a GB, something tends to screw up. i still haven't finished my Pony for the Mustang Ranch GB, and my 2 for this GB. although all 3 are just a fudge from being done. oh well, no more GB's for me for a while. later.

Ok so here is one pic, it's a little crappy but once i finish off properly i'll try and get some better shotsThumbs Up [tup]

Allen, gotta type this in a hurry as the missus is screaming to me the TV show is on.. (dont wanna make her mad, she is working on her second black belt)

This GB just ended... or does tomorrow... basically a group build is a bunch of people getting together and building around a certain subject.. like WWII Navy fighters, USN Aviation in general etc... no competition... just good times and posting pics of your build along the way if you feel like it... I learn a lot from them. I see a pic and say "Hey... I like the way that looks" and ask about it.. and you seem to make a lot of friends too..

The Pacific group build is going on which would include your F6F if you would like to join it.. I had too much going on to join up but all the same there is time for you!!!

Good luck!!!

Hi guys. All of you have done some great work. I've never joined a group build and would like to know it works. I have a 1/48 Has. F6F-5(N), 1/48 AMT/Ertl F7F-2(N)(minus cockpit),1/72 Has. EP-3E Orion(planning on it being P-3C of VP-49),and a 1/542 Revell USS Saratoga CV 60.
