Yesterday was by b-day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEHappy B-Day [bday] For my birthday, I got 6, count them, SIX hours of uninterrupted play time at my workbench. I got to repaint my SBD, although I still have a lot of goofs on it, and got the cockpit and fuselage assembled on the Wildcat. Man, for the modeler who has too many models, the best present I could ask for now is time.
Next week, the family is going to the big city for shopping, and I'm to stay home with the dogs, YIPPEEE, my early Christmas present, 24 hrs of pure modeling time.

I don't want to sound like a curmudgeon, but the holidays derpress me in the fact, that although I like to be around family, they never allow any time to model, so I end up with two months of no model time, so when they asked me what I wanted? I told them, TIME. No kits, tools or paint, just time to enjoy what I got over the last couple of years.

Well pingtang I actually support the SA cricket and rugby squads but it appears that rugby is not their forte this year. My bro-in-law is from SA and I got to watch SA spank India in cricket 2 years ago. Anyways, I didn't get to do any modeling this weekend because we had to decorate for Christmas. All is well though, I have the paints and decals ready for next weekend so it appears I will be done early!

Mate, we don't expect you to go soft on us any year, but it always seems like you do (must just be the way you lot play). The cricket was looking good til last night, getting beaten by NZ, does it get any worse than that? Good match though, even if we did lose.

Now, to make this post slightly on topic, an update on my corsair. Not much longer to go now, got all the landing gear on, flaps are raedy to be installed and all I need to do is paint the canopy, prop and add the other small bits. I'll probably be finished by the end of the week.

Thanks mate. I take exception to that footy comment, it was totally un-called for, seeing as though we seem to have beaten you bunch of wood ducks this year. Now if you Cane Toads could sledge as good as you model, I might be offended.Wink [;)]

Okay.... I finally got around to taking some progress pics of my corsair. They are just a couple of quick snap shots taken in the morning sunshine.

The first one is without the wings attached, so you can see the scheme properly:

With the wings on this time:

hope you like the pics and thanks for looking.

Ray, great to see ya back friend!! you here to stay now, or are ya still back and forth? i'm about to move on Jan. 2 myself, and will most likely be out of the mix for a few....weeks........months......don't know yet. i'll be moving into a 2 bedroom apartment and my wife has already voiced her displeasure of bringing the hobby into an already cramped living quarters.

thanks for all the kind words about the SBD-3 fellows. Tom, yes, everything is straight out of the box on this one, no need for AM parts on this Acc Min kit, its very nice. alot of flash to sand off in some areas, but not that big of a deal. later.

You are da man Chris! Nice work on that power plant.

Moving really messes with your "closet time". I was recently out of building for nearly two months!

Got my Corsair flat coated today and it turned out alright. I keep saying this, but I'll probably get some progress pics up soon (when I get around to taking some pics). I'm doing it with its wings folded so it'll at least look a bit interesting.

well, i vetoed the idea of starting the Hornet as i'm gonna have to move within a month, so i didn't want to get something started that i might not get finished before the move. my wife has already hinted to make a start on packing away my hobby for the move..........i said no way, i'll do it later.Big Smile [:D] so, in the scurry of trying to get all the "started" builds off the workbench, i did get a little done to the SBD over the weekend. i detailed and and installed the engine, and assembled and installed the elevators. i'm glad to be past the engine, now i can get on to the finish line relatively quickly. later.

Got some good work done on the Corsair yesterday. I've painted the tri-colour scheme and am working on pulling the micro-mask off the wheel bays, it's not being very co-operative for some reason. I'll start decalling today, might have some pics of it up soon.

actually it's mold that is more a prob here Jules haha... year round humidity ranging from 60 - 100% we do get dust though, although of the dog-borne variety in my house. yeah I am about to start the exterior paint on my SBD today or tomorrow morning... I am going to try it and will let yall know how it goes... might just be a mess, but who knows? sounds logical! (but remember I am from the woods in East Texas, a lotta stuff sounds logical to us fellas) Wink [;)]
