Mine's a Peugeot 205 1.8 diesel. it's tiny by American standards, about the size of the bonnet of Buick!!!!!

It has all the style of an item that has had a style bypass and 11 years old with 125,000 on the clock, I've put on 75,000 of those in the last 3 years.

Still it does 65+ to the gallon at 75 on the motorway, which is the only reason I bought it.

Been busy with the Hurricane today, managed to apply another coat of silver over all the areas that had received attention after the last coat.

This is what it looked like before I started, looking like a real banger, all silver and primer!

Once the silver was dry I started on the pre-shading with Gunze Tyre Black. I was going to use Tamiya gloss black, but having just sprayed the True Details wheels for this bird, I thought 'What the hell!'. This took about 2 hours, with regular breaks, for tea. I am English after all!

.....and underneath......

Tomorrow should see application of the top coat. I'm not going with black but RLM66 with a hint of tyre black, as straight black would be just too much.

Razor Thanks, the stuff in the wheel bays is fun foam, just cut to shape and popped in.

Someone else on the forum mentioned it a while back, and then my daughter got given some , and then strangely enough some manages to end up on my desk!

Funny how these things happen isn't itWink [;)]

Ok, dceals are going on, the kit decals are bad, but I still need to use some of them. They tend to fall apart...

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

No progress on the Hurricane today. I was hoping to get a top coat on, but what I thought was a normal Rugby match for my eldest turned out to be a tournament, so 6 hours rather than the normal hour and a half on the touchline today.

Too cold and tired now to contemplate airbrushing.

Mike It looks lovely there, all warm, not a bit like the UK in March!

Thanks again guys.

36C too hot.Disapprove [V]

-36C too cold.Sad [:(]

Maybe 5C wasn't so bad after all.

Picked up my kit for the North Africa GB from the LHS on Friday, Hobbycraft's MS406.

Typical early HC, box art my 4 year old could better, instructions no better, and decals that look more like peel offs. Strange thing is I'm really looking forward to it, probably because I enjoyed their Polikarpov I-16 so much last year.

Decals are already on order for an example based in Egypt in RAF service.

uh-oh guys its started for me, I now have two in the stash![:0]

I thought I would only have the current kits I am working on then buy more when I want to build the next one. But oh no, I have to walk into a LHS and see a buy one get half off poster Evil [}:)]- doh!

Couldn't resist. Big Smile [:D]Tongue [:P] Razor you'll be proud of me! (I might be asking for help!)
I have only ever build four 1:72 scale planes. That was so long ago I can't remember. So I got the arfix 1:72 Beaufighter TKX, which looks like a lot of work (no cockpit detail just a silly looking pilot figure) and the arfix 1:72 Blenheim IV which I want to do as a Canadian Bolingbroke IV (This one has better detail but the fit will be a headache!). Has anybody build these?

Still no progress on the Hurricane, renos and life getting in the way!Angry [:(!] Good looking work Karl.Thumbs Up [tup]

nice work rick. anyway, I got the flat coat on my do-17. It is now ready for final assembly and touch up painting. In addition, I reattached the fin and one of three drop tanks to the F-4E Phantom... sigh...

The cane is looking good Rick. Thumbs Up [tup] Could someone please explain to me though the rationale behind the black and white undersides? I've always wondered why they did that and I can't figure it out.Confused [%-)]

Jay: yes I am proud of you for going 1/72 but those kits do not sound like easy ones. Good luck!

I think I read somewhere that the half black/white undersides was for units and aircraft with both day and night operations in the early days of the war.

Looking good Rick! can't wait to see Willie's markings on it.

Dave, Jay, Thanks guys. This is actually the late 1940 scheme of Sky undersides with the Port wing painted black. The Black & White underside finish was incorporated in 1938, replaced in early 1940 by an all Sky undersurface. In November, 1940, the directive to again paint the port wing black was given. Most research I've read says it was done mainly for Identification purposes to avoid freindly fire incidents.

It signifies I'm a member of the League of Extraordinary Modelers, actually another on-line Forum with membership by invite only, not public domain like FSM. The members are called LEMURS, thus the Lemur in the sig tag. The name is a little mis-leading, as extraordinary modeling skill is not a requirement for membership, but being considered a good, helpful, sociable type of modeler is. God knows how I got invited to join Big Smile [:D]. I've come to know some of you guys fairly well from this GB, so if anyone is interested in joining, drop me an e-mail & I will provide more details & can arrange for an invitation.

Rick, that is a great looking plane! I can't wait to see it in full!

The Martlet decals had that same bottom schem on the instructions, but after looking around I decided to go with the majority of references and go for all sky. The FAA Musuem and a few others all designated it as having an overall sky color. Not sure if this was because they were quick converts from French marked AC or not...

Thanks Tom. I got all the decals on today, so it won't be long before she's done. Unless my short attention span gets sidetracked again Smile [:)].

Don't feel bad Rick... I haven't modeled in more than a week... between buying a new car and getting a new roof put on etc... it's been a bit busy/noisy around here...

My Spitfire is progressing excruciatingly slowly, no real problems with the kit, it's just real life intruding on my modeling.

Rick, great looking Hurricane!! I can't wait to see some pics with some decals on it.

Cheers

Rick The Hurricane is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see it finished.

Jay That's how it starts. I swore I was going to finish the Do217 & Ju287 before I started on the Hurricane, but in the end I just couldn't resist it.

Then I swore no more kits until those 3 were built, so what do I do, buy Academy's Bf109D and HC's MS406. There's nothing like resisting temptation..............and that was nothing like it!!!!

Still I won't be starting either of those until all the other 3 are done...............I think!

Cleaned up the clear parts today and noticed that I have lost the dorsal nav light. I could make one out of shaped clear sprue or white glue, but does anyone have this part lurking around at all?

Monogram 1:48 Spitfire MkIIa....

cheers
