Rick i've seen that website before. I just looked at it again and recognise many of the names of the modelers there from this forum. Pretty cool.

Thad, great job on the Heinkel. A really nice build.

Darren, Daniel, Karl, Bob, Thanks for the comments on the Hurricane. I'll post more pics when she's done.

Jay, about half the Lemurs are also members on this Forum, but it is much smaller & a little more close knit group.

Regards, Rick

Thanks Rick, That means alot because this kit made me cry, say a few choice words and at one point I was going to give it a test flight.

Thad, based on your comments, is it safe to assume that your He111 is the famous Monogram kit? If so, then I share your pain brother. Challenging build to say the least. However, you have a very fine looking plane there.

Hey, was there beaufighters in N Africa? I may want to join in with my Airfix TF.X, I think it may be a later version, but then again nothing is impossible if you want the right aircraft.Big Smile [:D]

Rick: I think the beginning of May is when we thought the North Africa GB would start. I'm thinking a 1/32 109 E-4 is going to be on my shopping list for that one. Something a little easier on my eyes. The He 111 was bad enough but I'm currently working on a 1/700 Essex carrier. Blindfold [X-)] I'm using a photo etch set for that too and its killing me. Definitely more work than I wanted to put into it. Oh well...

Ouch. I've already committed to 2 other GB's starting May 01 & a third starting June 01. And it's then Golf & Gardening season. But the North African GB does have my interest, so I'll see if I can sqeeze it in.

Thad, outstanding looking build Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]. That one should be a real eye catcher on your display shelf. Thanks for participating in the build, I've updated you on the first page.

I've already got my Matilda II, Bf-109E7 and the 1/48 DAK Kubelwagen all lined up ready to go for the Nth African GB. This is a special area of interest for me as I had my grand father in theatre, so there is no way I'm passing on this build.

Cheers

Thad Sweet looking 111.

The finish looks great, just right.

Looking forward to the NA GB, Morane Saulnier 406 already in the stash, decals on order, just need some ref. material, as the Hobbycraft kit is a little sparse, shall we say, in cockpit and wheel bay detail.

Looking at my Hurricane, I don't think I'll use the decal for the red band behind the spinner, as I've spent a couple of nights trying to mix a red which matches the decal for the spinner. My first attempt looked more like a cherry metalic auto colour. great on a VW Beetle, not on a Hurricane.!!!!

Therefore I think I'll mask and spray the band and flash instead, using the decal to make a mask.

All that is for the weekend, as is the top coat.

Karl

BTW Rick... being as you have built a "few" kits.. have you (or anyone else for that matter) built the Revell DE B-26? I picked it up for more than casual interest as my great uncle either flew on that or the B-24 (researching it currently but the only two med/heavy bombers that hit Guam were those two so he had to be on one of them)

if anyone else has some comment about it I would welcome the run down from them as well! It looked a bit basic but my previous experiences with the Revell DE kits has been favorable...
