OK, am very very very (99.5%) close to finished with my do-17!!! It's late here, and school tomorrow, but I'll see if I can get 1 or 2 pics up. More real pics tomorrow. i'm taking a short break because the build is frustrating me a little right now...

Tom, I built one several years ago. It's not a bad kit. A lot more work than the typical Tamiya, but considering it's age, not bad. It's the only kit available in 1/48, so if you want a B-26 there aren't many options.

BTW, I heard Kremps has been seen again lurking in North Africa. Perhaps we'll meet her there ?

Regards, Rick

Rick,

I picked up a B-26 by Mongram - copywrited in 1991, so not sure that it is just a repackage of the Revell kit - perhaps an early collaboration??? As you say - not too many versions to choose from [:S]

Guess what guys!! Finally getting close to getting into this build!! Have not been able to get much modelling time lately, but finally got back to some painting last night!! So there is hope yet Smile [:)]

Ok, here it is!!! I am finally finished!!! More pics that are actually half way decent to come. (I know the antenna wire on the plane is bad, but it's my first time ya know...)

One fuzzy and very bad pic.

Rick - I believe Kremps was deported from NA after what she pulled with the camel there last time she went... but I am sure she'll slip back in somehow! Wink [;)]

Tom, as far as I know Kremps spent a little time in the Canadian far north building Igloos on Government contract for a few years after the Korean war (part of the "missing" years"). She froze her feet and had to get a couple toes amputated but with advances in medical technology during the 70's she got a couple new ones grafted on to replce 'em.
You thought her feet looked funny but couldn't put your finger on it didn't ya?Wink [;)]

So, I expect we'll see her lurking around the priaries terrorizing some ground squirrels during the Canadian GB!

BTW I got back to my hurricane a bit last night and painted the wheels and got the model ready to try some salt chipping.Smile [:)]

Tanky, the Do17 looks good, the paint job looks a little fuzzy ... oh wait, my mistake thats the picture (just joking!) Can't wait to see more pics!Big Smile [:D]

Tanky, can't tell much from the pic, but it looks good far as i can tell. The antennae wire looks to be way out of scale however. What did you use for the wire ?

In regards to antennae wire, how long do you think they held up in a combat theatre? They were essential equipment so they were probably replaced right away.

I have seen plenty of photos and even film of a/c with them, but it is just one of those minutae (I think this is mis-spelled) questions that pop up, at least in my head.

Jay - LOL! I wondered about those things she called "corns" maybe they were really hoofs from the pigs feet they grafted on after she lost hers?

Hey Tom, I noticed you dropped the BoB badge from your sig, do you only have the badge up when you are building, then once it is done you take it off?

Looks pretty good Tanky. The camo came out well. Looks like you had a little trouble with the fit on the front greenhouse, but it's an old kit & had some fit problems. For antennae wire try some 2 lb. fishing line or have your Mom pick you up some invisible thread at the sewing shop. I always send my wife to get me thread, don't want people getting all confused seeing a macho guy like me in a sewing shop Smile [:)].

I just borrow a dress, and go right on in. I think I look like a lovely lady!

It's easier than explaining to my wife why I want her to buy the thread for.Wink [;)]

Tanky Can't see your pics as I'm at work, look forward to seeing them tonight.

No worse than Kremps at least. Just make sure you don't get recruited to a K9 squad like she did while you're in there. They're are always mistaking ladies with beards for new recruits.Wink [;)]

Er, hello....! I've been away for a little from modelling, around 6 weeks it seems. Anyway, just read pages 60 to 97 in 2 sessions. WOW! Monty Python, cars, nurses, and yes, even something on models. As for why I've been away, well, one reason in particular...a very nice reason though!

OK, so I've done some more work on my bf-110. The cockpit is now mostly completed, with just the belts to be touched up, and some levers to be added in to the side walls. The mainplanes (as an ex-RAF said to me: birds have wings, aircraft have mainplanes) are completed, except some sanding, and the removing of a bit of blurring caused by an errant spot of glue. For some daft reason I added in the PE filters. I say daft, because they are buried 2/3 inch inside the inlets, and can barely, if at all, be seen from outside. The plan for this weekend is to attach the remaining cockpit PE, glue the fuselage, and attach to the mainplanes. Then, finally, it will resemble something (and not fit in the Ferrero Roche container anymore. In my view, Ferrero Roche make the best containers for the chocolate, could have been designed with modellers in mind!)

Jay - I removed it after I finished the martlet to make room for the pic from Darrens daughter and the appreciation badge from Tanky... I forgot to put it back.. but if you are asking do I remove them after the finish date of the build, yes... I get involved in WAY to many of these to keep them for long...

BTW: everyone - Kremps is doing well, got a call from her today and she is in Bogota, Colombia right now trying to straighten out some mess with the FARC rebels... says after she is done she is taking a long needed vacation in Alaska... seems she plans to swim with a pod of grey whales down the west coast of the US to California.. somehow she claims that is relaxing...

Tanky The Dornier looks great.

You did an excellent job with an old kit.

Osher Good to see you back, can't wait to see photos of the 110.

Jay My entire weekend wardrobe is ex-Kremps, luckily it's from her Shining Path period, so lots of combats, just with slingbacks!

The Hurricane will get paint applied to the wheel bay today, along with the red on the spinner and fuselage flash. I'll let that dry overnight, then the 'black' will go on tomorrow afternoon after rugby.

So all in all good progress is being made, especially now I've got a couple of reference photos to work from. Stopped me painting the U/C covers and wheel hubs silver at least.

Looking forward to seeing pics!

Et voila! Pictures

First job this afternoon for the old A/B was the aluminium for the wheel bay.

I think the reflection speaks for itself! This is the Gunze acrylic metalic, sprays straight out of the jar, and beautifully too.

Job 2: the red on the spinner, and in this picture, around the front of the engine cowling. This will be masked to form the flash on the front of Gleed's machine.

Finally I sprayed all the fabric parts of the airframe, including the elevators, rudder, ailerons, and rear fuselage in Gunze acrylic RLM 66.

Having seen a few CR42 night fighters over on another forum, that dare not speak its name, all painted in RLM 66 instead of black, I was quite impressed and thought I'd give this a go. Unfortunately the post shading has almost disappeared under the 66, so I'll have to do a bit of post shading when the top coats are complete.

Oh, and I found a dirty great seam line on the rear fin.Banged Head [banghead] Not sure how I missed this, still a job for tonight.

Rick Looking forward to some pic of your bird.

Looking real good Karl. The RLM 66 is such a dark grey that it will hide most of the black preshading.
