Joe Looks like you got some catching up to do!!! You'll still probably finish before me though!

Jay I just didn't know how else to mask the cockpit, this sounded about the easiest way.

Darren & Jules Thanks for the encouragement. Glad you both like it.

Well the 48 hours is up, so on went the Future.

Prop is also now painted, i knocked back the black for blades, as otherwise it would have looked too stark compared with the rest of the airframe.

Hopefully decals wiil go on Thursday night, so I'm finally getting somewhere.

Oh, and it's my birthday...........

............and the Birthday Fairy brought the following, one apt;

......the other just extremely welcome.

I won't start work on the 162 until after the NAGB, once all the resin has come out that is due for this kit.

Karl, Happy BirthdayParty [party]

Well I was happily at the bench last night working away on my Spitfire when I knocked a couple of pieces on to the floor. No problems I'll just reach down and get them I thought when I heard that hideous CRUNCH sound that a canopy makes when you stand on it Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]. To say that the language turned blue in my model room for a few minutes there is an understatement. The upshot is I snapped the front canopy down along the armoured frame. I glued it up last night and I'll see how it turns out when I can look at it in daylight when I get home.

Same here.......managed to crack the canopy of my Huma Ju 287 diagonally right across the topBanged Head [banghead].

Guess it's time to brush up my German and write a begging letter to Huma!!!

Hey all-I vaguely remember rumor of a new BoB GB starting up in the fall. Is this a possibility/probably? Going to Hobby Lobby on Friday for the 40% off sale and need a reason to pick up a bf109E......

Hi Bob, we talked about this a while ago and I said that I would happily run it if we had enough interest from people. We also talked about returning builders from this GB doing a reverse build of what they did this time, but that part is optional and still up in the air.
At this stage I was going to post a thread in December 05 for a kick off in mid Jan 06.

Cheers

Darren, this has been a great GB & the BOB is one of my favorite modeling subjects, so I would certainly be interested. Still have a BP Defiant sitting on the shelf waiting in the que Smile [:)]

Another BoB GB! If it in the same time as this one, I'm in, Tongue [:P] this time maybe a Bf-110! I really don't know much about manufacturers for them, who makes a 1:48 kit?

Well, got the sky on my hurricane last night and maybe tonight or tomorrw will start the camo! I'm having a bit a trial with the squadron vacform canopy, its the first time using a vacform canopy, good thing they come in pairs!
I'm trying salt chipping and it looks a little funny as I'm painting but the most annoying thing is forgetting about the salt and grabbing the wing and knocking it off. I think it'll look really good.Big Smile [:D]

Almost right Jules, it's actually find cool Ultracast part, then find kit to put it in and then break the canopy Cool [8D]
Thanks for the offer, but its OK Tamiya actually provides 2 front canopies for the Spit Mk.I, one with the armoured windscreen and one unarmoured. In any case I was able to repair the one I broke with it showing up to badly.

Joe, nice looking progress so far, BTW what kit and what scale is your 109?

JB If we did this build again I must admit I'd be pretty tempted to have a bash at the Fujimi 1/48 Bf-110 myself.

Cheers

Joe, looks like rapid progress. I can't tell if it's just the camera angle, but the tailplanes look like they have some dihedral. They should be 90 degrees to the fin.

Darren - I think that would be a fine kit.. I was thinking on the same myself... I already havce one 1/3 built from the first of this build and if I wasnt swamped with builds I would finish it to give you a run down... I can just say so far it has built up similar to one of the Tamiya kits.. very smooth.. no gaps etc...

Although if someone came out with a modernized Do17 kit in between now and then......

Joe At this rate you are going to finish before me.

Looking good.

Which however cannot now be said for my Hurricane.

See below:

I had a complete disaster with the Hasa decals. They were like leather, so I ended up applying liberal doses of Mr Mark decal softner. It did little to the decal, but did eat straight through the Future to the paint beneath.

I know what I'll be doing this weekend.........

.......the same as last weekend.

Replacement Error Master decals for this bird have been ordered, and should be here late next week.

Karl, That's a shame. I've never seen decal solvent eat Future that way. I use Micro Scale products, but my guess is Mr. Mark Solvent must have a lot of alcohol.
