Well, played with the camer last night and learde a few new tricks (manual settings for different types of lighting and adjustments for the macro setting ie: super close ups Big Smile [:D]

Anyway here are some progress picks. Doesn't look like I've done a whole lot but Its a learning experience for me as it is my first major PE undertaking.

That little bit of railing between the bridge and funnel took about 10 hrs and 4 attempts so make sure you tell me how good it looks!

These guns are about 1/4" (5cm) accross and yes... I am losing my mind heehee!!!

I have the next 4 weeks off due to the fact that I am between jobs at the moment so I hope to get lots done in that time. I have a really good job lined up and if and when it comes through (I'm about 90% sure it will) I intend to celebrate by picking up a new toy. A 1/32 TBF? Maybe I can do some markings in one of Essex's Squadons? Hmmm...

Well, after a minor altercation with a misplaced cockpit housing, and hence a misfitting fuselage, I now have the SBD joined up. I have seen positive comments about Hasegawa kits in the past, and I have to say - I don't think I have met a better fitting kit. No fill needed down any fuselage seams at all. And the wings went together a charm. Next challenge is masking for the paint job. Went to the LHS today to buy paints for the kits I have underway ... and then actually forgot the blues I need for the SBD [:S] ... so I am stalled a bit Sad [:(]

wow! thats alot of extra time! Might be able to build some more. Might be able to do the Pacific Dio I had planned (US landing on Guam)

I finally started on my Japenes medium tank. Fairly easy build so far.

Guess I should check in. My Sherman is mostly build and awaiting warmer weather to airbrush. My basement gets cold and as a result, the airbrush gets REALLY cold!! Hopefully this week...

Great finish - nice bird. And Tweets - the Zeke looks spectacular!!

I also have a question for you knowledgeable lot. The Hasegawa SBD-4 kit I have has the lower dive brake holes imprinted right across under the fuselage. But right in the middle of the brake section there is a hump continuing from behind the bomb carriage. I am not sure just whether this section of dive brake opens as a single unit (including the hump? Or does it open as two sections - one either side of the hump? Or does it not open at all?? If any of you have any guidance, or photographic evidence, I would be grateful.

What is bugging me is that if it opens as a single section, how is it hinged such that the residual hump does not get in the way???

Many thanks in anticipation ...

(By the way - now into drilling the bottom brakes ... its like counting sheep!!!)

Finally got some pics of my A6M5 'Zeke'

This is the first time I have tried to do weathered paint, other than shading that is.
It's not the best, but you have to start somewhere Wink [;)]

Lighting is something I'm still working on for my pics, so sorry for them being a little 'dull'

Thanks for letting me a part of this GB, there are some really awesome builds going on here, and I'll keep popping back to check them out.

It's a while before I will be painting, but I might try and fix that pesky hole. Just knowing it is there is BOUND to bug me!! So a little experimentation on busted up plastic first, and then I will decide on an approach.

And i'd like to share the gun bay and cockpit pics but the Camera i'm using doesn't like small things Smile [:)]

anything closer than a foot and it's blurry, and anything smaller then 3" or so is blurry. i'm trying to borrow a family member's camera that has optical zoom

A November finishing date is fine with me. It would give me a chance to do an aircraft along with my Essex. I am finally starting to get the hang of the PE for the Essex but it is taking soooo long. Each quad gun mount has 6 itsy bitsy tiny pieces. Banged Head [banghead]
