Thanks Lobbie. I will proceed with Plan A, which is good 'cause I didn't have a Plan B yet....

Thanks for the kind words on the 'hardware' folk's, I don't know why the pic of the finished bird did not show up.

Roy,
Thanks for the correction on the LVT. It was one of many AFV's entered at the resent Expo, I took about 90 pix and when edited I'll let you know . The addy for Al's site is
http://www.armsmodelit.com.au

Leon,
The in progress shelve are [sadly] my own models, not models built for customers or contracted to the RAAF OTS. Mine just join the que and wait their turn, three of the IJN birds are just waiting for either final flat coats or decals and weathering.

Bob,
In regard to your question about India/China/Burma, in relation to this GB, China is the only country that would fall into the Pacific region, but the Japanese over ran what was Indo China, which Burma is on the western fringe of, so build your subject of choice as to what you originally had as plan 'A'.
The 'Air Commando' unit started in the India / Burma region and moved to various other places, the AVG ended up as another group of a particular Air force [the number eludes me at present].

Lobbie-question-does the India/China/Burma Theather qualify for this GB? Reason I ask is that Project Zero will be turned into a test mule for my air brush and I have a P-51A in the stash. If not, I'll go with Plan B....

Thanks

Bob

Congratulations Lobbie! It looks great and is well deserved.

Thanks, also, for posting the picture of your shelve holding all the in-progress builds. I really appreciated seeing that. All I can say is wow, I wish I could be that prolific. Big Smile [:D]

Jason,

Your cockpit build is looking good so far.

Roy,

Here is an LVT-4 that was entered in the recent Melbourne Model Expo over the weekend of June 11 - 13 of 2005, the other pix taken of various models and dio's are detailed links below, sadIy Al was not trading at the expo this year due to ill health, I have his website addy and will email it too you.

To view other AFV's in either dio's or kit. Model Exhibitions is the Gallery, the link is below:
http://s9.invisionfree.com/Scale_Magic/index.php

Enjoy.

Incidently, I entered the Beaufighter in the Modified large aircraft and did not place in the top 3, but the Bird was awarded 'Best of Show' for an RAAF aircraft .
To me models entered in a competition are for fun and to share ideas and tips, [not to collect hardware, like a lot of people I know], it was totaly unexpected.

Richard,

Your welcome to join in with either of the 24 scale kits.

Roy, Joe, Jason and razordws,

Thanks for the kind words on the 'Pacific' Beau, I've been tempted to enter this in the forthcoming Melbourne Model Expo competition over the June 11 - 13 weekend. A good place outside my colection for this bird would be the RAAF's Officer Training School, I have another planned as a Malta Based intruder of Mid Stone / Dark Earth over Black and an early Mk I night fighter version overall Black .

Is it too late to join this group build? I have two Trumpeter kits, the A6M2 Zero and the A6M2-N Zero Floatplane and I would like to use one of them for this bujild. I do have other models from that period if these are not acceptable. Let me know. What I have seen so far is great.

The Beaufighter is now finished and looks like this:

Sorry for the flash bounce in some of these pix, if and when the sun comes back I'll attempt some better shots.

Note:
The gun sight is mounted in the travel posision in line with the left hand windscreen upright, also fitted is the starboard cockpit window release handle, the external mirror is made from a small piece of Evergreen strip.

Thanks to all who have kindly remarked on the progress of this build in previous postings.

G'day Folk's,

Dave, Roy and Jason, thanks for the kind words on the Beaufighter build so far.

Roy, all the model subjects, regardless of wether they are my own or consignment or contract builds, they are all airbrushed free hand, using two types of airbrushes, one a OMNI 3000 and the other a Paasche H set with a #3 tip , set at 16 psi at airbrush tip.

nwetothegame, I answered your question in regard to how many builds are going at once [and at the time I could not find this pic], I've never been one to boast as to what I do in the model industry, or what projects are running simultainiously, as those that know me, know I would gladly share my techinques used during the model assembly and not left to the confines of the workshop.
What ever I do in the modifications or conversions during the constructing stage I share for all to benifit, wether it be here on this site or my own forum sites. But the attached pic does show some of my own models in progress.

The 'Rex' and 'Pete' are part of this Pacific GB in the top lefthand corner. the area of shelving is not suited for larger model subjects and they are on anopen shelving unit on the oposite wall to where I would normally sit when working.

G'day Folk's,

Here is a few shots of the Beaufighter in it's present state, I have a couple of fin flashes to put on this bird, but this is what the current stage of the build is looking like. The panel lines are touched using a lead pencil, just for the suttle appearence.

A few area's I'll touch up by hand during the course of the weekend, I have been asked to enter this in the forthcomming Melbourne Model Expo over June 11 - 13 long weekend.

Sorry about the flash bounce on this pic. -Turning the Dark Earth to a sand colour.

G'day Folk's,

Rebel, that is excellent work on the Chi Ha.
Roy, Joe, Jay and lodni-k thanks for the kind words previously on the Beaufighter build so far, here are a few pix of the preperation and base cammo as layed down in the last couple of days.

Two shots of the Humbrol # 11 applied as a base N.M finish. Bristol manufactured aircraft had a dull red dope primer uncoat for their fabric surfaces.
* Note Fairey Aviation were also involved in the production of Beafighter aircraft.

Next step is the clear coat and application of some seriously faded roundals and code letter.
