Sweet, thanks.
I know this doesn't count since I am getting towards the finish on it, but if I can, I'll share the ending of the N1K1 I am working on right now (Sharing will help me be motivated to finally finish this thing, so that I can move onto the corsair and ?)

Anyway, here is where I at right now. I am thinking of adding a little yellow to the green mix and lightening some of the paint for a further fading effect. Usually I preshade, but this time I decided to post shade with a darker mix of the original color - I guess it had about the same effect as preshading does...)

Hope all is well, and again, thanks for letting me join at this late date.
Leon

Geez, where have I been? How could I have missed this? Is it to late to get in? I love the pacific theater birds. The Nov end date is perfect and might motivate me to complete a couple kits. Right now in the absolute excitement of finding this, I could see doing a corsair, a hellcat, a thunderbolt, and/or a japanese plane or two. In reality, if I can still get in, I'll probably be able to get 2 done - let's say a corsair and ???
Let me know. Thanks!
Leon

BTW, I have been scanning the thread (mostly the pictures in all honesty) and there is some great stuff here!

G'day Folk's,

Thanks for the kind words on the progress so far guys, to answer your question Glen, Shadoworks resin is the casting arm of Scale Magic, we do mostly 48 aircraft stuff with a little AFV stuff which is mostly Australian Vietnam ["Saladin Turret M113 FSV and the Mk V Centurion, with or with the dozer blade], era along with a set of sand tyres for the old Tamiya LRDG 30 Cwt Chev.

Roy,
I'll get some info on resin casting and the addy of a site here in OZ for you and email it too you. Al Mc Divitt is the owner of this particular business is a friend of mine, he has a lot of interesting items apart from resin casing materials for the modeller.

Glenn,
The seats are cast as you see them, they are plain white, but when painted and detailed they look good, they are actualy some spares I had for the P 51 Mustang,

As an added note, we get people ask us the cast small resin items to repair models not just from here in Australia but from around the world.

G'day Folks,

I've started on the RAAF OTS B24j as based on the Monogram 48 kit, all I've done so far is replace the kit seats with a pair of my own resin ones, I know they are not the same, but when this gets to the shut stage of assembly there is not much to see anyway. I've only painted the seats, I'll spend some time with a little weathering later their is a lot of flash on this bird to clean up.

The resin seats as painted.

Bob,
Nice progress so far.

Glen,
Excellent build, I agree Tamiya kits fall together most times.

On another note, I need to find the 48 AMT A20b/c Havoc or the P 70 version kit, for another reasignment to build another BD-7a Boston III similar in context to this model pictured: incidently this pictured model was built by me, as part of the RAAF contract and has a lot of resin parts fitted to it to convert the A20 b/c to a DB-7a.
The model I have been asked to build [provided I can locate a kit], is to be replicated on a similar line to the PBY 5 Catalina, faded and chipped paintwork.

This is the resin conversion done by us to convert the A20 Havoc b/c into a DB-7a model

Hi Jason,

Yes, I did have a problem with the gear lining up. The instructions (yep, I read the directionsBlush [:I]) confused me and I put one of the cross pieces on too high up on the main gear which made the gear not want to go up far enough into the bay. I went back to the instructions and finally saw what happened, and when I fixed it, it slid right in. I think it was the piece that had the four beams on it that attached to the main gear.

Whew! Finally got her done, almost. It's a Tamiya F4F in VMF-223 garb. I found a couple of pictures of this aircraft on a website showing 19 kills painted on the side. I don't have the kill markings yet, and will have to add some later when I come across some or make them myself. These Tamiya kits just fall together; it's unreal. I painted the wings, fuselage and tailplane before gluing them together the fit was so good.

Hey all. Finally got started on the Monogram 1/48 Zero for this GB. This kit is circa 1962. Interior detail is nil. My goal is to use it for air brush practice (Paasche H on order-my first AB). So until it gets here and I've practiced on some paper first, this is 'bout as far as I'm going to get!

G'day Folk's,

Another of these totaly of subject builds, this is not the progress to date on the 32 scale Tamiya F-15c, I've only done the the intake and after burner ducts and painted so far the fuselage is a nut and bolt, for those interested their are 31 parts to assemble the afterburner. I've assembled to this stage to check allignment of parts, before dismantling and restatring the assembly sequence.
This build is for a Doctor, I just hope he does not get the F-16 in the same scale.

The paints used on this for the cockpit and the speed brake well, are from the Xtra Colour range, as Model Master Metalizers are used on the afterburner.

Roy,

Apart from myself I'm sure many would pass modelling tips or techniques, to help you, as I build mostly 'wingy thingy's' email mail me your questions and I'll pass on my hints to you. I'll get Junior [aka 150 man], to add his part to this also.
