I forgot that I already have the in-construction photo's on the net. This is my tank before painting, pre-shading has been done with a permanent marker.

The grey on the base is acrilic primer, it makes the walls rough, like real concrete. Brown is handpainted with citadel scorched brown.

Well I'm finished to, I'll try to get some pictures on the net. I don't have a digital camera, so it may take a while. I'll just post them on the armor forum.

I look forward to seeing your build , Im feeling a bit lonely in this GB lol.I did a bit of dry brushing to bring out the details. The grass is what I had left from my wargames figures and is a little bit garish for me too many red bits in it for my liking, I need to find some diferent stuff.
Hmmm a badge.... Im not bothered really about the badge so Id say no .

nice build, grass looks good, it's give the whole more live. the details on the tank look good (because of the contrast), I suspect you did some dry-brushing?

I had no time to do anything, I hope to finish on friday.
Are we even going to bother making a groupbuild badge?

since we are the only ones left, how about a small extension. I tried painting yesterday, but I had some severe airbrush troubles.
painting will probably have to wait until friday.

RemcoGrob I think its just you and me mate. I havent finished either , life got in the way as it has a habit of doing. heres where I got too and Im giving up for the night.

As you can see its almost indistinguishable from the real thing. ......kinda.
I pretty much gave up on this kit from the start and decided to build it without filler and much effort , which is pretty bad really and now I regret it cos it really isnt that bad a little kit. I will finish it I have to do the tracks and weather it , probably should even out the base coat a bit too. I remember this kit from when I was a little kid and its the nostalgia factor thats gonna make me finish this ...... not on time tho it would seem. If nothng else Ive discovered I really quite like working in this scale an will probably do more braile scale kits , just better ones in future.

I like this idea! I have two kits that would qualify, both Revell releales, but the inside clearly states matchbox/lesney. I think I will build a Panzerkampfwagen Mk.II. I can spray it in a single grey color, that should speed things up! (I also heve a jagpanther, but it has a three-tone scheme)
How do these vinyl/rubber track thingies work? (I normaly build aircraft) wash/clean them and just paint normaly?

Cool, Karl. I'm glad to see you here too! As to the Mad '60s Airfix Day, I'll let you organise it..! Your idea! A good one too... There are quite a few old Airfix kits that I would not mind trying out again... Rotodyne, A4D Shyhawk, Graf Spee, Lunar Module, ...

Good luck building a Rotodyne in one day! I have build two and they take more than a day to build.

I would be keen for an Airfix GB, sounds good to me. If I had more time I would have a stab at this one as well!

Love Matchbox and Aifix kits Smile [:)]

cheers

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find one of those kits (I know, I know on bay...on bay from Babylo..oh, sorry) in my LHS.
Yet, still time to search.

OK, I've gone for the Sd.Kfz 232, which is one of classic Matchbox kits from the golden age, with scenery (cool scenery too!)

I just bought off ebay a 1/72 (1/76?) Matchbox Leopard, does that count for the GB? (good for the Leopard week if not though!)

Sean, that Chally is a later Matchbox kit and it does not come with any cute little base/diorama... I'd rather you finding an earlier kit. Revell is re-releasing them (Wespe, T34, Firefly,..) and they are still very cheap (just under £4 here).

I found some Matchbox AFV kits in 1/76 at GreatModels.com, but I'm not sure if they would count (most of them are modern AFV's not listed in post #1 and I dunno if they have diorama accessories included).

Price is good though. If these count, I may just need to join this with a Challenger Smile [:)]

Oh I just thought Easter isnt fine by me. I have kids lol Id be a baaaaad dad if I just shut myself away and neglected the kiddies.

That's exactly why I suggested Easter!!!!!!!Evil [}:)]

I figure they'll all be busy stuffing themselves with chocolate anyway!

If you're looking for a source of these kits try the link below:

www.model-material.com/Wargaming/matchbox.htm

They are based in the UK, I haven't used them, but the prices look good.

I tried my LHS the other day, but it looks like they have finally run out of Matchbox armour, still got a few A/C kits though.

Dan, that is a pre-requisite along with a picture of your un-opened Matchbox kit taken at Midnight on the day before we start (and of course, you must appear in the picture!)

By the way, are we going for the Easter week end or the one before, as originally planned? What do you all think?

Hmm matchbox Smile [:)] I even remember their catalogues from those days ; the first few pages the model kits, and the next ones their little diecast cars...

I've built a few of those colorfull kits as well, remebering a halftrack (I believe that one came with a railway embedding), a Jagdpanzer (with ruined walls) and didn't they also have a complete invasion dio ?

Anyway, if (and that is a very big IF) if happen to find one of those kits from memory lane, I'll join this GB.

ps Do I really have to wear that funky green wick and plateau-shoes ???
