An annual Canuck build would suit me just fine too. My bench is almost cleared of all other builds (it's such a good feeling Approve [^] that Essex carrier nearly killed all motivation to model) and then I'm on the Sunderland full time for at least a month. Yippieee! Propeller [8-]

Jay an annual event would work for me I have a bunch of Canadian subjects. I'd probably do an Otter from 401/438 Sqns circa 1980 just before the Sqn's converted to Kiowa's. If I could find a decent 1/72 Kiowa I'd definetly do one of those as I spent most of my time working on them & Twin Hueys.

Marc, we might even make it an annual thing as I have loads of Canadian subjects I want to build. Glad you're having fun, that is the point after all.

Rick, sounds good, looking forward to some more progress pics.

Jay That's great that you are able to meet the pilots of the aircraft that you model it gives you a great focus. My very loose goal is to build the aircraft of 401&438 Sqn (I served with both Sqn froms 1983 to 95) from the 40's to today so if your planning another Canadian GB I'm definitly in. I'm having a great time with this one.

Rick looking forward to your progress picks

Cheers

A quick progress report on the Sea Fury... Finally figured out how to get the Cutting Edge wheel bays fitted to the wing. Have to say it was worth the effort, the detail is very nice. Now have the wing assembled & attached to the fuselage & some seam filling done. Should have it primed tomorrow & ready for painting next week.

Regards, Rick

Marc, no prob. I am collecting signatures at the moment. I almost got Gordon Lindsey's last weekend but I forgot the book, next time I get to Red Deer I 'm also going to try to get Don Laubman's then too as they are both in Red Deer and are also good friends. Currently I have 7 in the book. Two by pilots I built aircraft of. Sid Shulemson's (obviously - duh!?) and I also built Harry Hardy's Typhoon - Pulverizer IV. I even talked to him this summer! It was talking to him that got me wanting to build a Canadian collection of real aircraft. I also have Ken Lett's signature (Spitfire Pilot from Calgary), a couple of other Typhoon pilots from Vancouver, a ground crew member who worked on the Typhoons and I even met the Author, Wayne Ralph is a really nice guy and ex-CAF himself.

Great news - progess on the Boly! I've glued the wing halves together and started the long process of removing the rivets! one fuselage half is ready for scribing.

Michel, I'm building the Hobbycraft 1/48 Sea Fury, but it's not the Elite version, so can't help on the PE plan. Sorry, would if I could.

Ref.: Hawker Seafury 1/48th, hobbycraft Elite series.
Sorry to barge in this way.
I am desperate trying to find missing plan concerning how to apply the photo etched parts to the model.
Hobbycraft cant help me since that model is out of production.
So, can someone help me on this topic?
My email adress: baklajonessez2000@yahoo.com
Thanks, Michel.

I'll give it some thought. I don't have anything planned past the end of the Pz II GB that ends in October. I'll just need to find a kit worth doing, and that doesn't require massively cutting up an existing kit to make it accurate. I'm not good enough at that yet to take that on. It will be a vehicle of some sort.

Thanks everyone for the kind words on the pit. Got the fuselage halves together, now trying to fit the Cutting Edge wheel bays into the wing. Not as easy as I thought it would be.

Rick Super job on the cockpitThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup].

Jay My painting skills realy sucked way back when and since this is my first one in 20 years I don't see why things should change plus all my work was done free hand (no I don't have an airbrush yet, any suggestions on a model would be appreciated) back then. Also I actually enjoy the building part and with all those PE bits it makes it even more fun it brings me back to when I O/Hauled aircraft instruments.

Cheers

Howdy all,
The True Details resin seats arrived today, fresh from Squadron.. I've probably got everything I'm going to get for this one, so no more excuses.
Er, you want what honey ? Well maybe just one excuse.
Cheers
Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Thanks for the comments guys. Jules, I 'm not to happy about the preshade. I heard of one guy in thew aircraft section using marker (sharpie) to pre-shade. It looked really nice before I put the future on. After the future was on it really brought out the lines and it looked way to heavy. Even after putting on a flat coat they look too dark. I think I'm going to try another layer of flat coat as it still seems a little shiney.

Thanks Marc! we are total ecstatic, being maried 7.5 years and FINALLY a little Boutin on the way.

Jay That was your first attemp at a preshade wasn't itQuestion [?] It took me about a year and 6 models to get preshading right and even now i still have a spot of bother every now and then, the most common problem i have is going to heavy or having to touch up areas which kinda eliminates the preshade, i've done that on the Canadian Spit II i'm building for this GB, just a bit to heavy on the undersurface of one wing which makes it look odd in comparison to the other one.......

Rick Your pit looks real nice buddy, I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished buildThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks bstrump. The Cutting Edge detail sets are kinda pricey, but worth it in this case. The kit cockpit is just plain awful.

Well I can finally post some progress on my build. The Hobbycraft 1/48 Sea Fury is an old kit & pretty basic. The kit interior is primitive by contemporary standards. That's where the Cutting Edge resin detail set comes to the rescue. Only problem is that the cockpit was painted black on the real aircraft, making the added detail hard to see. I checked to see if my modelers license was still valid, & finding that it was, I painted the interior with ModelMaster Interior Black enamel & then proceeded to dry brush with shades of dark grey to bring out some of the detail. Final painting of small details was done with Vallejo acrylics. Anyhoo, enough talk, here's the pics.

Marc, what do you mean "not", I think painting is one of the fun things in the hobby, the filling with putty and bouts of sanding are the least fun for me, oh yeah and masking canopies!

about the boly... I have to concentrate on my zero for the next week or so (the Pearl Harbour GB deadline is Dec 7 {duh} so I have just over 1 month to git 'er done!) . I've got the canopy inside colour painted on and now have to finish the seam sanding then tomorrow I'll be able to get the JN grey on it. If all goes well, I'll have decals on it next week - then I can start on the boly!Tongue [:P]

Jay does the mean we should be seeing pics of the Bolingbrook soonWink [;)]

Status Report: Well it's starting to look like an aircraft. Wings, fuselage & tail assembled. Now for the fun part (NOT) the painting, more later.

Nice work on the Beaufighter Jay.Thumbs Up [tup] You took a less than adequate kit and made a very pleasing model out of it. Well done!

Work continues slowly on the CT-133 and the Hornet. Still cleaning up seams and I added some True Details seats to the CT-133 to at least fill some space.
