Tom The Martlet looks great, with just the right degree of weathering.

I have a question though, did Kremps have help getting into the cockpit? I just can't see here getting her husky frame up on that wing and into the pit on her own!

Bob That 'stang is coming along nicely now, looking forward to the finished article.

Tanky The 109 has really turned out well, and Ilike the idea of a base, really shows it off.

Sean Good to here the 129 is coming on well, looks like you've got the wing root issue sorted.

As for me, I've done next to nothing on either the Semovente or the MS406, I'm hoping I'll get a chance to finish the base coat on the Semovente tomorrow.

Sean - You could try getting it from www.smmodels.com . They have it listed, but I don't know if they have it in stock.

I'm gonna try the Humbrol enamel flat clear soon. I've been told it is quite good, so I'll give it a go. I've also got some of the Vallejo stuff that I'll have to try one day. I like Gunze flat clear, but it's not easy to find around here. All the shops I go to are out of stock.

[:0] You didn't hear about their second trip??? they just got back from a pigmy collecting trip in N Africa... something about this GB brought back memories...

Then Dave comes along mentioning pigmy stew to us... Dead [xx(]

I think Jules little computer problems may be no more than a poor attempt to camo his ongoing affair with Kremps...

Bob - great looking!!! How did you fight off that wing root seam problem? Looks like you beat it down with no problems! You did good on the paint, a nice even looking coat.

That kit looks like it went together well, how were the fuselage seams? Anything to look out for if I were to buy one?

Daniel - I just started using Vallejo (Color of Eagles) Clear Flat. I suspect it's similar to Polly Scale in its makeup. I was very impressed with the finish it gave me, previously I had been using the Testors dullcoat and such and never was quite satisfied with the finish... this stuff is GREAT! I also picked up some Pollyscale and am going to try it on my next build for comparison...

Ok, first fit problem.
Not a big issue, but something that needed correcting.

The 129 has a nice flat upper wing surface, but my kit seems to have a tad of imperfection, or maybe just a little warping.
Had to add a .005 shim at the wing root, which will also have to be applied on the leading edge to square up the upper wing section.

Easy as, but just thought I'd post it.

OK guys I'm getting keen to try the Pollyscale flat.

I've tried my usual online shops, but they don't have it listed.

I've stuck with the custom mix Future and Tamiya base for a while now, and I tried the Microflat, which didn't give me the finish I was after, hence the Future/base mix.

But I have read endless posts on the Pollyscale, and it's worth a try I guess.
Where in Oz can this stuff be obtained??

I'm off to glue the wing top sections on now.
Did I mention I love this Hase 129 kitKisses [:X]Kisses [:X]

Nice job Tom, very nice.

I've changed gears. After striping the OD off of the Mustang, I decide to go with the RAF version, Sqnd. 225, I believe. Getting the hang of the airbrush, but still much practice is needed. A bit of overspray (also need work on masking technique) but I think I can take care of that with some chalk pastel weathering. Plan now is to let the acrylic cure for at least 24 hrs, spray Future, let that cure at least 24 hrs, decal, let cure, then Testor's MM acrylic dull, followed by weathering....as always, I'm open for suggestions and/or ways to improve future builds.

Dave - thanks a lot! yeah I had to go get that Testors decal maker thingy just for that... if I was making Kremps ride it had to have her favorite inmates' patients' name on it!!! I might do another later (maybe a DDay Martlet for the Battle for Germany build?) as "Jules Tools" but I'm not sure that nose art would be allowed... [:0] And thanks for clearing up the pygmy thing.. I was thinking the worst until now!!!

Tanky - there is a big difference in the cuffed and uncuffed Hamiltons... the uncuffed is skinnier and doesn't have the wider piece at the bottom of the prop. I want to do one with the right prop later just to see what it looked like without the intakes, wide prop etc... It would look even less like an F4F!

Nick - there is time is you can finish around Sept 30... what were ya thinking of building?

Very nice Tom!!! Thumbs Up [tup] Especially the "Tweety II" nose art. Really put the icing on the cake. I hear Kremps is so touched by it that she is cooking up a special treat for you!!! (I think it's her special... Pygmy Stew!)

Cuffed? Uncuffed? The rivet counting disease has spread to AC modelers as well... or you could call it accuracy. Very nice build Tom. Looking forward to your next.

My next is currently underway. Revell 1/72 Fw-190 for OOB GB. Plus a treadhead project you guys wouldn't care about.

Rick - I appreciate you waiting till the last to tell me what's wrong... ya know... in case it really hurt my feelings and all. Wink [;)] The only obvious thing wrong with it as far as realism in the pics is the Hamilton cuffed propeller, it should be a Hamilton uncuffed, but by the time I learned this I was almost done and didn't feel like correcting it.

The second thing, the real aircraft that wore these markings was a Mk.III Martlet and DID have the intakes on the cowl... but I wanted so bad to try out the mods (mainly to see the difference in what it was like) I fibbed a bit...

Great build Tom & a fitting tribute to Ms Kremps Thumbs Up [tup]. Looks like you had fun with this one & grew your modeling talent by learning new techniques. I was going to wait until you were done to point out all the mistakes, but now I can't find any. Looking forward to your next build Smile [:)]

Ladies and gentlemen... (and Kremps) .....your attention if you please!

My Martlet of 805 Sqn, Western North Africa. Done as the Black "K" that our patron Mme. Kremps flew in theater. Notice the grubby fingerprints where she rolled herself into the cockpit, the stained sides from the grease of many a bag of potato chips being eaten and the remnants tossed out mid flight.

It went together fairly well, (against my wifes best laid plans of keeping me too busy to model) there are a few obvious problems but overall I am very plased with it. There were a lot of "firsts" involved in this one, the oils, some of the pastel effects, the insulators that Tamiya seemingly forgot about and I added. The modding of the F4F to a Martlet Mk.IV.

Anyway here's pics...

I think that was all of the ones I resized... I was a bit dissapointed in the thickness of the testors decal material, I know one or more other companies make it so I might check it out by them...

update:
i haven't gotten anything much done assembly wise
on my bf-109f, but i did get a basecoat of light grey
on & have brushpainted most of the interior & misc. details...
italeri has the pit in interior green, but i'm thinking
grey (either RLM 02 or 66) would b more likely.
the bird will b in a simple RLM 79 over 78 on the outside
(thanx 4 the advice rjk & tho9900),
probably JG27 markings...

the posted builds all look great...

SEan, I've buit a couple in the past & working on my third. You're correct, it's one of Hasegawas best engineered & fitting kits. The only area that needs some care is the fuselage spine. It's slightly concave rather than the usual convex & eliminating the join seam takes a bit more TLC than most kits.

OK, I've had some dead easy kits in my time, not many, but a few.
But nothing compares to this Hase 129 kit!!!Big Smile [:D]

This kit is so close to a 'snap fit' item it's scary!Shock [:O]

I anticipated a few headaches, maybe some warping, but I just finished gluing the bottom wing spar on, and all the adjustment it needed was a single scrap with the #11 and she sat perfectly!Approve [^]
Same went for the fuse halves.
A little Mr Surfacer and a light sanding, good as XXXX.

Have to wait for the glue to settle now, then attach the top wing sections and get the dyhedral spot on.
At this rate the only hassle will be the squiggle camo.
Might even have time to bash the 109 togetherCool [8D]

OK, I am now offically done. I attached the antenna wire and finished off a few detail painty things. I will post pictures soon. (The antenna wire was (un)willingly donated by my sister. Yeah I used her hair.) I'll take pics of it on the tablecloth, and then a special pic just for Tom.

Tanky, great job on the 109 buddy, it looks fantastic and the base sets the whole thing off nicely.

Oh and btw the white one with patterns is my personal favourite Thumbs Up [tup].

Jules I don't know when you'll get this but good luck with the PC.

Tom I'm glad to hear K for Kremps is almost done. I really like the scheme you've used for this because it's a little different. I'm looking forward to seeing the final result.

Cheers
