Bob - I have made an agreement with myself that there will be no more GB's for me until the Atlantic one... I might be able to keep it! Wink [;)]

Thanks to the group for your kind words... I am thinking of doing some touch up on the Ju87 in preparation for decaling in a bit.. I really havent made up my mind yet. I may just take next monday off as well just to get some modeling in!

Looking good Jules! I see Kremps has been by your place as well lending a hand! And yeah... yesterday felt good.. got a LOT done on several kits!!!

Daniel - it's the Monogram Promodeler kit, the same one as the Hasegawa -R2 stuka... I recommend it. Goes together like a charm.... just put the engine nacelle on FIRST and mask the propeller! Wink [;)]

Tanky - woohoo! you're going to be the Dremel king of the block! Just don't try to engrave your headboard or anything.... mom's don't like that...

Ok so next year North atlantic GBThumbs Up [tup] but like Jeevessaid i'd like to take a break and not join a 100 GB's in the meantime, next year i think i'll limit myself to only 2 or 3 so i can get some bigger projects doneThumbs Up [tup]

Tom My havn't we been a busy Texan lately, pics everywhere, isn't it cool when your on a building binge.......
BTW great looking Stuka, should be finished soon ehThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Pingy Yeah mate i think black might be to strong for a wash on my 109G cause it has no green spots to break the colour, i might mix a little brown with some black to tone it down a little...........

Jules I know I answered this on another thread. But, I'll add that you might be able to use a dark brown wash instead of black. Might look a bit more subtle.

Tom That's looking good mate. What kit is that you're building? I've got the old Monogram kit that I might do for this GB. It's gonna be fun rescribing all those panel lines. I'll have to do some PE for it, the cockpit is very bare......

That's the only part I don't like about some resin kits Tanky... it almost requires C4 explosives to release them from the mold block... Ultracast is the only one so far I have found to have decent (read - just requires a hobby knife) blocks you can easily remove the part from.

Rick - I noticed those today... it would do wonders for the instrument panel and radio boxes with what I saw... This might be another "must do" kit like th Martlet has become... on a side note I looked and couldn't find the Ultracast seats for my Martlet today, I am SURE I ordered them! I am faced with 2 choices, wait the 2-3 weeks for Roll Models to send me the set I ordered (it said AFTER I ordered it will take this long) or modify the extra P-47 seat by taking off the upper tubing above the seat and using it. They are identical except for that bracing hardware at the back of the seat.

I think it will be the second of the two. And the Wildcat seats, when they come in... they'll be for Future Martlets!!! I saw another decal sheet today with a white or NMF Martlet on it... gonna have to build that one too I suppose! Wink [;)]

Looks great from here Tom Thumbs Up [tup]. Sadly, Ultracast doesn't have any parts for the Stuka. Eduard makes a very nice PE fret however.

Thanks Tweety - I see some obvious blemishes it it but as you said about your Bell... we are our own worst critics... This was all in all a nice build... if I did it over again I would add maybe a smidge of PE in it and if they made it (not sure) an Ultracast seat...

oh... and put on the cowl/engine nacelle BEFORE I paint it...

Rick - ask and ye shall receive!!!

you can see the spot right at the leading edge of the wing where I overshot with the Sandgelb, and a few places I want to touch up but some of that will be done after decaling. All in all I would like to build this again armed with the knowledge it is better to put the cowling on first!!!

this Atlantic GB looks like it could take off!!!

The Ju87 is futured now and when sufficiently dry I will take it out of the box for pics... I am still not 100% satisfied with the nose fairing area. it looks a lot better though. I still have to dab a little Hellblau on the are where the demarcation line is on the nose, I freehanded a touchup on the sanding and got a bit below the line of no return.

It's not a biggie as this will end up very high hanging from the cieling of my sister in law's dental clinic ... she is a pediatric nurse and has a girl themed room and is looking for a boy themed room beside it. As I am running out of space for models I graciously volunteered to help decorate it! Wink [;)] and plus when I get lonely for them I can go visit them!

The Martlet is another story though. The Stuka was a 'filler' build while I was working on another one... I just decided to put the P-47 and Bf110 aside for now and work on the Martlet. In fact I might spray the interior tonight while the future on the Ju87 dries...

Mike - I'm with you... I am very close to finishing on most of my GB's and I am thinking wait for the Atlantic one would be a good idea... The S-100 would be nice but I just thought of that He111 with the dual torpedos strung below, or a Ju88 I saw rigged up with a torpedo once... hmmm I might need till next yr to decide!!!

C'mon Tom how about some pics of this Stuka...........

Karl great to see your making steady progressThumbs Up [tup]and yeah i can see the tail innacuracy in the pics, Hobbycraft shoulda picked that upThumbs Up [tup]

Soooo You fellas wanna know the secret to getting to spend $500:00 on models, well i put up 70mt of colourbond fence, a 20mt long 600mm high retaining wall plus 2 paths and 3 garden beds and then layed a truckfull of turf over about 2 tons of fill which i moved shovel by shovel, in short i had to work my Censored [censored]to deserve itThumbs Up [tup]

North Atlantic GB I would like to follow one Gb after the other just to keep us "Usual Suspects" building together but i definatly agree, not until next year...
It would have to be a long one, probably about 8 months for anyone who will be building a 1/350 ship or a large recon/attack A/C like the Condor or Liberator but the subject choice is amazing, just off the top of my head..........
All coastal comand A/C
All Luftwaffe Sqd's that attacked any merchant shipping including the attack on convoys directly prior to the BoB,
Any lend lease weapon that was shipped to Britain or the Soviet Union via the Atlantic including Armour, trucks and Aircraft ect ect.....
All carrier based aircraft US navy and Royal navy
all surface ships including merchant ships, Capital ships, U-boats, S boats, British MTB's.... The list is seemingly endlessConfused [%-)]
BTW Tom I think i may have a pic here of the US navy Escort carrier USS Bouge with a bunch of Wildcats on the deckThumbs Up [tup]

Daniel a Question sir........What did you use for a wash on your 109 EQuestion [?] i normally use a black watercolour but i think that may be a little dark on the desert 109 i'm doing....

ok one step closer today. I got the nose cowl on the Ju87, realizing too late it would have been better to attach it before painting and mask the prob, than spray it without the prop, attach the prop then the cowl to the AC.. it'll need of sanding there... nothing spectacular but it would have been easier with it already on the craft and sanded when I painted it...

Anyway it is looking pretty good so I will get some pics tomorrow and hopefully finish it tomorrow as I want to move on to the P-47 as it is so far along. I have the first coat of alclad on it and it looks like it will turn out a humdinger!!!

Atlantinc GB huh? That would be cool, I just picked up a tiny resin US ship sub hunter model that would be perfect for that.

Jules I mentioned Revell's 1/72 U-boat to my other half a while back, only to be met with;

'And where do you think you're going to fit that?'.

Reply,

'On a shelf over my desk?'.

Disparaging stare in return.

So how did you do it?

Would Revell's Type XXI count as I really like those?

Any way, progress on the MS406 has been slow but steady, most of it aimed at rectifying all the little inacuracies introduced by HC. Not least of these being the tail, which should be rounded and not squared off!!!!!!! See pic below.

I'm not convinced anyone at Hobbycraft ever looked at a real MS406 in the making of this kit! Even the rudder hinge line doesn't go all the way around the fuselage!!!!!!

Apart from that, the fuselage halves are together, all joints filled and polished, and panel lines scribed back in.

Should have the wings on today.

Karl

Tweets - maybe your late night jaunts with Kremps, painting the town red have something to do with it??? Wink [;)]

Believe it or not, my wife is great and you all have heard stories of her.. I even mention an airbrush that I heard is good and she is bugging me about getting it.. if I go to the LHS and don't come home with at least 2 kits she gets upset (you work hard for your money, you need to buy things you like she says) ... I still think she would have a problem with me buying that set... without a little talking on my part at least...

I wanna know Jules's secret too...
