Yep, we put the 'fun' in dysfunctional.......Wink [;)]

btw-put the landing gear & wheels on the Mustang last night. Somewhat of a battle, axle & wheel opening were of different diameters. Fortunatly I found a small enough drill bit in the tool box. Again, another reminder to 'pre-fit' components before attaching to the plane. Hope to finish everything off (except the canopy-awaititng masks from Great Models) this weekend. Big decision is whether to be 'accurate' and attach the landing gear door in the closed position or go with the standard door down look.....Approve [^]

Frostygirl That 109 looks like it's coming along nicely.

Thanks for the encouragement on the Semo, I'm hoping it's good preparation for the Panther I've got planned for the Battle for Germany GB later in the year.

Keep plugging away at the Horten, I/m not sure my Semo would survive a trip across the Atlantic! And I still haven't finished the Ju287 I started for the Prototypes GB!

Progress Update

The Semovente has now been dry brushed, tracks added, and numerous details such as the jack, Jerry cans etc added. So almost finished, which just leaves the MS406.......

Frosty & Karl-Great work! Looking forward to the finished product.

Some work on the F-6A this weekend-landing gear attached (no doors attached yet), exhaust painted rust and attached and the yellow wing stripe applied. Prop is not glued on yet-just placed on for these pics. Awaiting the mask before attempting to paint the canopy. Also need to apply exhaust stains and other weathering.

Bob - looking good!!! is that preshading I see? I like it on your kit.. very subtle, some do it too heavy and it is a bit overbearing...

can't wait to see finished pics!!!

Wow so much progress from everybody Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Karl that Semovente looks great, nice job. By the way what are all those road wheels for sticking into the foam block in the background?

Frosty, the 109 is looking great so far, when do we get some more pics?

Bob your F6-A is looking mighty fine how close to finishing are you?

Darren Those are the road wheels for the lefthand side of the Semo. The Semo is now pretty much done, it just needs a bit of weathering and it'll be finished.

Bob Can't see your pics at the moment, as I'm at work. Looking forward to taking a look tonight.

As always, thanks all.

Tom-no preshading. Did post shading with pastel chalk 'dust' applied with a Micro-brush.

Darren-might get finished next weekend. Still need to attach the landing gear doors (can't decide whether to be 'accurate' and have the door closed or go with what 'looks good' and have the door down-I'm taking votes!Wink [;)]) and hopefully the canopy mask will arrive this week so the canopy can be painted. Plus a little bit of chalk exhaust & gun staining.

Bob Looking really good.

The weathering on the panel lines really looks like pre-shading.

It's finally finished....

I removed the rear portion of the fenders as none of the photos I found of Semos in action featured them. It also helped show off those lovely MV indy link tracks.

The decal for the number plate took about 15 coats of decal setter before it would sit properly over the hull front rivets.

The tactical markings are for the Ariete armoured division at the 2nd battle of Alamein.

I used a dark umber wash to pick out all the detail, having first pre-shaded the hull with black prior to application of the Gunze H79 Sand Yellow. I then post shaded various parts of the hull with a lightened mix of the H79.

I really enjoyed this build, my first AFV in 20 years. The kit is pretty straightforward, and a good intro to AFVs, but does benefit from the Model Victoria indy link tracks.

Now to restart work on the MS406....

Karl - you would think you are a die hard armor freak by the looks of that... I am truly impressed! I have a quad tractor with 25 pounder I want to build some day I will look up your weathering for (also a N. Africa kit in desert sand colors)

Guys Thanks for all the kind words.

I really enjoyed this build, and would definitely look at more armour in the future, but for now I've got another 109 planned, as well as that 406.

Thanks

Ah... Ya Tom, where are YOUR pics??? Hmmmmmm? I thought you promised us a picture of the pit days ago. Whatsa matter, working the night shift in Kremps Cafe eating into your modeling time? Or are you still recuperating from the time she used you as her guinea pig for her new brew recipe? Wink [;)]

haha I was sitting here wondering what you were talking about Dave (as I already finished the Martlet) then I remembered promising pics of the FW190, I am sure I took the pics before I closed the fuselage I will have to check (and nothing from YOU Mr. Rick, about being another Jules with a dead battery!! Wink [;)]) when my camera battery is done being charged... All in all the cockpit didn't look too bad when finished, I used the decal for the IP and console arms and it actually looked pretty good!

Oh sure... first feign ignorance and then play the old dead battery card. Seriously, though sould like to see some progress pics even though it is not for this build... when you can get around to it that is! Smile [:)]

Tom The 406 has been on hold for the last month while I completed the 109D. That should be complete this week. The bulk of the 406 is built and primered, it just needs a few areas tidied up, then I'll be able to start painting in ernest.
