Tweety Mate i think the only problem you would have are the 2 parts that make up the intake under the engine, that big chunk of plastic that the intake sticks on to will have to be completely removed........Does the resin engine come with the mounts

Looks fabulous Matt! I'll have to look for that kit. I have built a few Revell DE kits and am MUCH happier with their quality than Revell US.. the Ju88 is a fun kit to build too...

So far i have enjoyed this kit a ton. I think that it is a re-release of a hasegawa kit by Revell-Germany, superior in almost every way to the Fw190 kit that i built a few months ago.

Hopefully I'll get to finish it this weekend since it is a long one for me!!!

Thanks for the info, I saw the canopy differences about two hours after i had shot the paint onto it. Oh well, guess that it will have to be the G then. Just didnt want to model the last type of 109 that he flew. Although how many times do you see a display that reads " This is the aircraft that finally got the better of Marsielle"!!

Pingy Bizarrely enough Gunze H79, Sandgelb, equates to RLM 79, the lighter version.

Or should that be 79 Light, the lighter way to enjoy luftwaffe camo?

I used the H66 a while back on a Kubelwagen, and it is way too dark!!!

No progress on the MS406 this week, and no pictures either.

Thanks for your help with the RLM 79 Fellas I'll use Gunze No 66 as a base and make a custom mix out of it, thankfully i have a destroyed 109 that i originally painted with Aeromasters RLM 79 years ago and that colour was spot on out of the bottle so i can compare my mix to that.............

So far I have picked up 8 aftermarket specials, and all have been fantastic.
The P51A I just got was an eBay special, and was DIRT cheap too

Jules My colour was a custom mix using Tamiya paints (I used mostly desert yellow mixed with a bit of yellow and white). I think that H66 is an equivilant for the other version of RLM 79 called sand brown (for some reason there were two different versions apparently).

Looking at that chart of Tom's, 66 is way too dark. But then again, the RAF middle stone shown on there looks like a dark brown too, but I've used that and it was perfect. You might just have to lighten it a bit.

RLM colours are too confusing......crazy Germans.

Jules - the conversion chart I have lists 66 as RLM79 Sand.. Sandgelb is the official name for it... but after seeing a color chart of it it is WAY too dark! And on this chart it lists it as Sandy Brown:

Pingy Mate a quick The RLM 79 you used on your 109, was it a Gunze colour and if so What number is it...I have here Gunze Sangyo H 66 RLM 79 sand Brown but underneath that it says RLM 79 Sand Gelb...It's way to dark but i normally have to lighten most of the Gunze i use anyway...............

BTW Sean Yeah the pit is tiny eh, and once the canopy is on you won't be able to see bugger all...Check out how far down the nose the instrument panel is, even with the canopy open you still wouldn'r see it.......

Tanky - diversification is the key! actually I never was a trueblood Badger person even though I owned one.. the right airbrush for the right job in my opinion... I'll still use the Badger, the Iwata will be there for certain jobs though.

Tweets - we have to have 22 months over here to keep up with the modeling you guys down under do in only 12!! Actually I am used to that format too from being married to a S. American, the only one that ever tricked me up was the Germans with the periods between the numbers (22.4.1836) and the period instead of a comma in a monetary amount. 23.000 Marks etc... (looks like twenty three point zero to me, not twenty three thousand) I wondered how stuff was so much cheaper over there when I went the first time!

Rick - Daniel et. al. - I think I might tackle the #2 pattern, very interesting to see the splinter camo under the tan... just need to figure out what color that is... it isn't sandgelb from the comparison to #1.

Fellow 109 fans, I have noticed in my limited references that my entry is supposed to be a Me 109F2-Z and what i have is a G4. Other than some minor panel line differences what would I need to do to convert this airframe into an "F"? Any help would be very helpful.

fyi-superglue can and has been used in cases where stiches probably should have been applied. However, time at the emergency room is time away from modeling

On a lighter note, I have managed to pick up the CMK Merlin engine set for my Spit VIII

It doesn't apply here, but had to tell someone, the misuss couldn't give a rats

Tanky I copped a knife in the foot a few times too before inspiration struck. I taped a toothpick to the end of the handle with some masking tape, an it hasn't rolled off the desk since. Now the only time I get a knife in the foot is when I drop the thing.......

Tom All three of those schemes look great. If I were to choose, I'd go with number 2. I just like it because it's different to the usual NA schemes you see. And it looks very cool anyway.
