Rick absolutely awesome build as usual Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] .  I don't know about a pretty bird but I definitely would say she a clean and dangerous looking bird.

I'll add your pictures to the photobucket group brag page when I get home from work tonight.

Tom apologies for not sending the spreadsheet through last night but I was doing some work on it yesterday afternoon and then emailed it home, unfortunately it never made it.  Tonight I'll make sure I take it on a disk to make sure I've got it.

Cheers

Rick - looks great!  that's inspiration to finish my big on now... (still no luck on the canopy on the 1/72 one Disapprove [V])  And as said, great job on the mottle!!!  That is a good ad for the 100!

Smokin - that FW-190 kit is a nice build.  I have one 2/3 done in my stash right now... everything goes together fairly well on it... Looking forward to your painted 88... I really might try some artillery after seeing the sweetness of that kit!

Darren - no rush... my plan is to compare the FS numbers on all the military paints and look them up if I don't have them already.. should be able to get through it in a few nights of research!  I know of a few here recently switched to Vallejo and I think it would be a nice tool for them!

Karl - thanks!  and I am glad you noticed my masking..  Wink [;)]  I probably spent more time on that then the model itself haha.. ok yeah... I know... professional help would do me good.

Ok everyone I got the 88 painted a least the gun anyway assemling the gun was the easy part man those trailers have alot of parts and you have to repeat alot of steps due to thier being 2 trailers, and the tires wow four sprues with individual tred sections would have perferd rubber tires.

Wow, lots of great stuff happening here all of a sudden.

Rick, Love the 190, so clean and mean! Awesome!

Chris, which kit is that? Dragon or Revell? I did a couple of Hasegawa's 1/72 Panthers awhile back but that's a much nicer one whatever it is. Or is it just that you did a way better job than I did? Probably both.

Marc, your 190 is impressive just for its sheer size! Keep at it!

Smokin' Looking good in Yellow. Can't wait to see the rest.

Wow Chris!!!  that's an awesome paint job!  Maybe I need to hire you to teach me to brush paint better!!!!  Only thing I could find to criticise is that one of the dots on the gun mantlet is clearly 1/32 scale inches too big.. Wink [;)]  Seriously though.. it looks GREAT!

Smokin....  ok you've convinced me one of those is in my future.. nice looking gun!!!  although that part about the tire treads makes me shudder!

Panzer - Small in size but big in looks.  Cool camo.

Smokin - Looks nice.  The skies over your house are just a little bit more unsafeWink [;)]

Progress  - Got the primer on... about half a roll of TP stuffed in all the openings.  If there were a winter camo D-9 with a big tail I could wrap this up real quick.  Hmmm? Maybe a "what if"... Nah!Big Smile [:D]  As I was stuffing the TP in the wheels weels I noticed my big boo-boo on this build.  I forgot to paint the inside of the engine compartment.  Probably since I was think that it can be seen since the covers don't open... but I forgot the great view from the wellsAngry [:(!]  At least it is gray plastic and not green or something like that.

Rick I've updated you on page 1 as well as adding you to the Photobucket GB brag page.

http://photobucket.com/albums/c392/Finescale/BattleForGermany/

Chris that's an absolutely awesome paint scheme and beautifully done as well.  Where on earth did you dig that up?

Robert the 88 is looking excellent, Tom's right I've got to get one of those things one of these days.

Marc I think we've all had a moment like that where you discover that bit that you forgot to paint that is now impossible to reach and highly visible.

:::Progress Update:::
OK here's a pic of the area on the D9 that's giving me fits.

I filled the area under the nose again tonight and sanded it back, the result is alright but I'm still not happy and tomorrow I'm going to have another bash at it and then get down to some painting.

Cheers

Don't ya just love those triple fills.  I got lucky thatthe primer revealed one really tiny blemish.  I was thinking of adding a postscript like..."The small ding in the tail is from a rock kicked up on a rough landing."  But a little Mr. Surfacer will be easier than saying that over and over again.Wink [;)]

thanx to all you guys for the praise

Tom my brush technique comes from over 20 years of art school/classes and almost 28 years of practice lol not to mention all the D&D figures i have painted over the years

Darren the cammo scheme is a combination of a scheme i saw in an old Hobby Japan magazine and an article in FSM where a guy used little triangles of tape to make streams of "blowing leaves" on his ambush cammo I just used hand painted dots with a #00000 brush the one i use for faces on my D&D figures BTW I Only use SABLE bristle paintbrushes for painting the only thing i use Nylon/taklon brushes for are drybrushing and weathering techniques and 15 years of being a Commercial artist/ Illustrator has tought me to take care of my brushes lol

my half track is doing well but is in many subassemblies i hope to have some shots of it within the next week or two

WOW! I've been gone a little while to study for those $#!77y midterms and I come back and everyone is posting amazing builds...

Really nice plane Rick. I changed my mind. You build these better than stovepipes. Now when you post your finished mig-21, I'll have to change my mind yet again...

I have a great tip on a very cool looking paint job for a street rod.   Off topic you say… well maybe alittle but I will tie it all together.

While waiting for the primer really cure well I have been painting some of the fiddly bits. I had just sprayed the underside of the flaps with aluminum buffing metalizer and cleaned the AB.  Decided to put a gloss coat on the already painted black spinner to put the spiral decal on the spinner.  Well if you do a really crappy job cleaning your AB, when you spray the gloss lacquer over the black there is a very subtle silver flake in the gloss and looks very very nice over the black...  IF IT WAS ON A FORD!!!Angry [:(!]  Just not to good on an Fw 190 spinner.Whistling [:-^]

Marc, Ouch, that had to hurt.  I've also learned the hard way that the AB really needs a good cleaning after spraying metallics.

Ok work has begun on the 190Party [party]!

Now, this is the first time since the 'Sabre' (shudder.....) that I've stepped away from Hase kits, and is my first Dragon kit so I've got a couple of questions.

Firstly, is it my imagination or is the Dragon styrene HEAPS softer than most others??

I made my usual trimming of flash from the parts and it left a ruddy huge gouge in the c/p tubShock [:O]

Secondly, do Dragon kits usually have horrid fitting parts, or did I just get super lucky?

The fuse alignment on this thing is beyond retarded, and there not warped, I checked that. It looks like the master mould was made from soggy bread or something, and there is a large raised section just in front of the tail rudder which looks more like an after thought than part of the original design.

So the fuse tapers rearward, then takes a drastic pitch towards the tail.

My first Dragon kit isn't filling me with oodles of confidence.

Yeah Tweety, the plastic used by DML/Dragon is very soft & their kits are not known for ease of assembly.  The 190 series are among their worst.  Still, with a lot of TLC they do build up into great models.  Take your time & dry fit twice before you glue.

Sean, you need to watch out for the angle of the under carriage as well. Dragon have molded the retraction struts too short, which gives the wheels an toed in apperance when viewed from the 12 O'clock.

I built Dragon's 262 a few years back. great looking kit, an absolute Censored [censored] to build!

Back to A/Bing the Panther.

Sean - the links below address the 190 LG pretty well.  Karl is correct about the drag link. Part 2 makes a good comparison of some of 1/48 LG struts and fixes for them.
