heh heh, I've been to Vegas on business so many times it's lost it's charm.  I went to 24 Hour Fitness for an hour and a half, grabbed a subway sandwich and chilled in my hotel room.

Hmmm.... I would imagine there are some hobby stores here in Vegas, probably next to the strip club.

That's pretty much what I do when I'm in LV, although I did go to a couple of HobbyTown USA stores  on my last trip.  I'm finding I need a bigger carry-on for these trips now.   San Diego is my next stop so who knows what I'll be bringing back.  The last time I was there I found a mint condition 1/32 Hasegawa Bf109G-6 (#08067) on the 'red tag' sale table for $20!  Here's hoping they have another great sale!

Hasegawa's 1/32 Bf109G-6 is an excellent kit.  I'm building mine as my 2nd entry for the Axis aces GB, going to do it up as Gunther Ralls plane.

Hopefully when I get back to town my P-38 PE set will be sitting in the mailbox. 

Well nothing to post pics about but here is an update

Just did a little painting and played with the pe set a little. Hope to get more done this week, if the weather warms up. It's heck to have your work desk in the garage.

hey! if anyone remembers me (after a looooooong absence) I am about to get back into modeling after my 3+ month slump...  my B-25 is about 30% done and has been since Sept or so... I have been getting an itch lately so hopefully will be able to get going again on it... As I said a long time ago it is being done to represent a B-25J of 13th AAF, 42nd BG in the S. Pacific..   My great uncle flew with them on a B-25....

Note to self... "special edition PE set with 200 pieces" not a good idea to keep the modeling flow going...  I think it burnt me out...

It's gonna feel good to fire up the compressor again...

Welcome back Tom.  Your wit & wisdom has been missed.

btw-the observation regarding the PE is soooo true-it looks so easy (in theory) but has made one or two of my builds less than fun....and then most of it isn't even visible after the cockpit is closed up!

thanks for the kind words yall...   one of the reasons for my prolonged absence is a new camera.  I got the Nikon D50 digital SLR and have been going crazy with it.  I haven't tried photoing models yet but the macro on it is out of this world!!!  (I already bought 2 extra lenses for it.. one is true macro)  I was into photography back in my Navy days (also with a Nikon) and just re-caught the bug recently... I've been trying my lot at portrait stuff recently and realize I need to spend the $400 or so for a basic light set... 

 Anyway, I have been staring longingly at this simple Academy Bf-109 kit I am 10% done with and I think this week I will tackle it to get me back into track...    I REALLY want to finish the B-25 though as I have also been researching my great-uncles career and found out he is a bit of a "person to be admired" 

When the airmen in the pacific accrued 80 points through missions/age they could go home.  My great uncle decided to stay to "see the war out"  ..  I confirmed he went on to B-36's after the war which is a draw in its own... a not so common aircraft...  

I am glad we have a bit of time left... I'll need it for playing with the camera!!!  See yall all again soon!

P.S. Mike -  nice job on that cockpit!  I don't see the problem with the weathering, it shows a nice variation on weathering... some areas would have weathered faster than others.. (i.e. areas under the feet, the seat bottom etc..)

Tom-the new camera sounds nice.  Looking forward to seeing some pics.

btw-the bf109 would fit nicely into the Axis Aces GB currently going on....give you a place to post some pics with the new camera

This is the first plastic model i have built in a few years, ive been rather busy with flying models. I struggled to find any referance for the interior so i have kept it simple and may yet do some more detailing. The engine was a fiddly bit to put together, the instrsuctions are misleading. They say to mount the engine bearers first and then fit the exausts to the engine, but theres no way of doing that and one of the pipes atached to the engine bearer gets in the way. I will be closing in the engine as i do not feel confident enough to make it look good enough to have on show.

Anyway here are the photos, any comments positive or negative are welcome, shes being built straight out of the box just to get me back into the hobby.

Scott-think I might shelf (err, uh, save) the P-38 for another build (just not excited about it right now) and build a P-40E (Hasegawa 1/48) that I have sitting in the stash.  Still won't get started for at least a week or so.

Thanks for the update Bob.  The Hasegawa P-40E is a nice kit.
