Well, DONE!!!! almostBig Smile [:D] Had a slight ooops with the future coat on the canopy, so I just need to re-do that and the antenna. Other than that, it is done. I had a lot of lessons learned doing this build. It was my first detail buils and I had a lot of fun with it. I would recomend this build to anyone looking to do one for their first detail build. It was relativly straight forward, if you have used a few resin and etch sets confidently, you can handle this job. I used the Hasagawa Me 109G-6 with the Aries detail set. Kit markings and no other real mods were needed. Thanks all for letting me be part of this GB, I enjoyed everyones work. You all have great work! Approve [^]

Well done, indeed!

Seeing all of the great work posted here, and especially guys like you, Drew, who make first time attempts, are inspiring. Recently I am playing around with PE, but I think I'm catching the resin bug. Great look build, but especially the engine. It realy makes it look like a machine.

I am in total agreement with mucker...outstanding job, Drew! Thumbs Up [tup]  You are one of many inspirations to this build.  Stupendous job with the detail set...I can almost hear that engine purrrrrrr.

Thanks guys. I must say, all the in-progress and finished models in this GB really gave me the inspiration to keep going with it. Normally, I get 2/3 done and shelve it for a while, then come back to it some 3-4 months later. Not this time. This is what the GB are all about to me. Thanks again all, I had a blast. Thumbs Up [tup]

Chris it's good to see that you are on the mend and are building again.  I hope everything is healing up as it should Thumbs Up [tup]

JayBee I'll be looking forward to seeing some of those pics of yours as well.

Progress on my 190 has actually picked up a bit lately after a long lay off.  The base build is but all completed with all the mods needed to turn an A8 into an A7 model done.  I'll take a couple of pics to post before I seal it all up and send it off to the paint shop.

Cheers

Ok here are a couple of in progress shots of my Tamiya Fw 190 A-8 backdated to A-7 specs.  The kit being built as Heinz Bar's mount (Red 13 as usual) and will display 200 kill marking on the tail.

To modify an A-8 back to A-7 spec is very easy in that it is a matter of filling in a few access panels two of which you can see in this shot

Other side of the fuselage with a couple more panels filled in

Cockpit as seen from above.  About all I did hear was add a set of PE harnesses and replaced the combing on the dash with a little stretched sprue.

Wheel bay and ETC 501 rack which was shortened by 1mm and moved back down the fuselage by the same amount.

Cheers

Time for a little BUMP on this thread and a small update.

Unfortunately the weather here has been very humid lately and as I'm trying to paint the 190 it's making things a little difficult.

I've done the pre-shading now and have finished painting the RLM 76 on the lower wing surfaces and fuselage.  I'll post a couple more progress pics once the main 74/75 camo.

Cheers

Wow Darren!  I have the same set of decals and will be doing the exact same build as yourself.  If you don't mind, I'd like to use your amazing work as a blueprint for mine.  Outstanding job!!!  I too can't wait for the updates.

I just finished my 2nd Hartmann Bf109 today.  As soon as I take some pics I'll post them ASAP!

Aloha,

Chris

Thanks Darren!  I started to do the research on backdating an A-8 to an A-7, but the doctor said I was allergic to research. Big Smile [:D]  I only got as far as movement of the belly rack.  Thanks for taking the time and posting the correct panels to cover too!  You da man!

Anyway here are those pics I promised.  They are of Hartmann's winterized G-14 (in the books as a G-6):

I've been tempted to finally tackle one of my 1/32 Hasegawa G-6s.  Seeing as how Scott graciously extended the deadline on this GB, I just might...

Chris

Wow, great job Chris!  I'm always impressed with your builds and this one is no exception.  Great job on the winter scheme, perfect weathering and your base adds a really nice touch!

Nicely done amigo!  Cool [8D] Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup]

P.S.  Seeing your completed build makes me want to get back to work on mine (I'm doing that same plane and scheme).  I've had to put it off to the side for a bit while I catch up on all my other group builds with looming deadlines.

WOW, Sweet Build there Chris........

Now I know the build / weathing / and the over al look of this Build is GREAT..... BUT, I think the MOST Outstanding thing on this build " at lest to me" is the seat belt haning off the side.

Blush [:I] im wondering if this Bf 109 fit this group build?  Im not very familar with the german aces.  if so  does Bf-109f-4/b and pilot is Oblit Frank Liesendahl Staffelkapitian was one of aces?  let me know thanks  hopefully i got the right one  if not  then i can use it for my extra projects Propeller [8-]

as for pilot  it also have Bf 109F-2  flown by Lt. Max-Hellmuth Ostermann and Bf 109F-4 flown by Oblt. Viktor Bauer Staffelkapitan  let me know too thanks

Thanks Scott and Bud!  Your encouragement has given me fuel to start yet another Bf109.

Silentmodeler, I believe Liesendahl was an ace and a recipient of the Luftwaffe Knights Cross.  I'm not an expert on the matter so I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time...hehehe).
