Wow kenny, you are going to paint all the tiedowns. There must be hundreds of them. Does the deck have recesses in the plastic so you know where to put them?. I built a carrier this year and white ensign models make decals for some carriers.

looking forward to seeing it finished. Hows the airwing comming along.

Well let's see 25 days left.  If I get started tonight, I might finish the Marder in time.

I had a little wake up call the other day.  I was demonstrating to my engineering class how I wanted them to document project work by showing my model record book.  I noticed the last entry was dated December 30, 2006.  I did not really intend to take a sabbatical.

With good intentions, I have carried the kit into 5 states. (NC, SC, FL, GA, Alabama)

As do i.  I got a few smaller things done last night.  Got the area's on the engine cowling and in front of the windshield painted OD.  Got the Stars and Bars decals on.  I had to redo the custom decals because i think i went to heavy too quick with the bonder.  The princess looked like she developed leprosy.  So i reprinted the decals and will be drying until tomorrow night.  Then i must resist the urge to hurry up the process of spraying them.  Here is 1 progess shot to keep you salivating.

Tony the Krylon flat do you decant it & apply it with an AB or do you just spray it with the can.

Kenny I hope everything turns out ok.  I would'nt want to see you have to go through all that masking again, although my tape stocks could use the boost.

I just bought a cheap set of vernier calipers and I need to mask a canopy. You look like someone I can trust so........ I'll try it tonight.

Mist, nice build - thanks for the info, some useful tips for me there. I especially like the black primer showing up the patches that haven't been properlly covered in aluminium. I have both the vallejo and tamiya aluminium and I find the vallejo one is really thick and gloopy (is that a word?).

I'm with you on the canopy maskingDisapprove [V]. The last one I did I used a cheap set of vernier calipers to measure the width of the panes and cut strips to that width. Then stick the strip on and trim the length to fit. It worked quite well for me and I didn't get completely hacked off like I usually do Smile [:)]

Deep breath.  Walk away, come back to it tomorrow.  After drying it may look fine.

You know, I usually shoot a coat of Future for decaling purposes, but I've noticed it has a great tendency to even out everything.  When the flat coat is sprayed later I usually can't tell paint goofs without really getting in close.

What if you shot a coat of Future over everything and then reshot the flat?  Just a thought.

There's nothing to be worried about with clear flat.  Expect maybe if you're using MM Acryl Clear Flat.  I've had problems with it not drying clear, more of a cloudy flat.  I now use Pollyscale Clear Flat and swear by it.
