Mist thanks its good to know it worked out.  The owner of my LHS sugested I use Tamiya gloss black with the Vallejo model air aluminun.

Arki it was also suggested I leave a few panels & contol surfaces gray with the rest black and that the final effect would be of panels having been replaced without having to use a second shade of aluminum.  I'm definitly going to give that one a shot.

Cheers

Black is a good choice for NMF as it tends to give more depth.  But I've also heard grey works just fine too.

Either way, nice progress Mist Thumbs Up [tup]

I used Tamaya's Flat Aluminum.  I found out you have to go 50-50 when thinning that stuff.  It's o so thick.  I used gloss black as a "primer".  It worked really well in locating bare patches

Hey King Kenny!!  Why'd we wait so long to do this????  Now it's like a race between the 2 of us to see who can get done 1st.Big Smile [:D]  ANyway here is my progress.  Hope to be completed no later than the 17th.  That all depends on how well the decals work out.

She's still a tail dragger even after a whole bunch of weight in the nose and front engine cowlings

Here is my first attempt at custom decals.  Took around 4 hours to redraw and resize.  We'll see if they work or not.  Letting them dry for a couple of days before i spray the bonder on them.

And have i mentioned that i HATE canopies.  Thanks guys for picking this and re-enforcing my opinion!!!!

RMV, very nice and very fast considering that's 1/32 scale! Thumbs Up [tup] The Stuka in 1/48 is large enough, I can just imagine the size of it at 1/32.

Kenny, Bow [bow]  She looks fantastic.

I, for one, do own stock in masking tape and can't wait for the Wall Street Journal to come out. With my windfall I think I will just hire one of the Artists here to build my kits for me and I will take all the credit. (Thud....................)

Really great job you guys I never built a carrier and kinda thought that all those lines were decals. I like the wall mount technique as well.

thanks guys for the compliments

rmv i actually started doing the whole job yesterday, i masked off eveything that was going to be painted white first since that had the most amout of paint. when that was dry i removed some of the mask so i could remask for yellow and red and painted that all day. now that everythng is removed i have to remask again in certain areas and clean up where things went bad :( but it wasnt that many places so it wont be too bad.

masking had to take between 4 and 5 hours alone and another 4 to 5 for painting leting things dry and the such hopefully between tonight and tomorrow i get all the touch us done then i can paint the sides of the ship then move onto the tower and the aircraft and we will be done

That looks really great! Thumbs Up [tup]  I like stuff like that where you have to plan it all out in steps.  You must have been efficiency in action to get all that done in one day.  How long did it take you to plan that out to be able to spray all that in one day?

Man thats a lot of tape! Shock [:O]  I always like the peeling part.  It's sorta like unwrapping a package... you either going to say "cool" or "Censored [censored]" Smile [:)]  Sure is looking good so far.  Can't wait for you to take it all off!

In the quest for page 100 I thought I would show you these.  This is i believe this was actually my 2nd on my list.  1/32nd  Ju-87.  I'm building this one for my brother and he has patiently been waiting for almost a year while I built the loco.  He wanted it to be mounted by the wing tips so it could be hung on the wall.

I had to file a channel out of the bottem wing half for the steel rod to extend out the wing tip.

Much later... after painting and ready for decals.  You can see the steel rod coming out of the tip of the left wing.

I'm going to support the back with another steel rod but the rear wing was too thin to hide it inside so I decided to just fastened to the bottom of the wing and slip it into the hole I drilled there.  Once mounted this will not be that noticeable.

Watch out page 100... here we come. Party [party]
