Thanks.  I'm indeed very close to finishing.

I need to decal & weather the missiles.  Then, since I built the
kit 'wheels-up', I need to prepare the wood stand that I will bond
the other end of the mast too.  I will have to drill & cut the wood
base to shape, then stain and varnish before I mount the model.

Then I'll be done, and one kit lighter!

Sir IL2  Thank you,  I like the look of the Thud.  If you want to get a Kit of the Thud get the Trumpeter version, stay away from the Hasagawa  version it's not a nice kit.  I also have the F-105B kit from Hasa and it's as bad as the -D I just built.

I didn't get much done this weekend - too many honeydews. I tried to freehand the dark patches on the Moskito, but it didn't go too well. So I then spent an hour cutting shapes out of cardboard to use as masks. I'm hoping to get the camouflage done this week. Almost there!

The Trumpeter kit looks very well manufactured. No flash, nicely done panels lines and rivets, plenty of ordinance options. It looks to be a very enjoyable build.

Kenny & Tony Thank you for your kind words they are greatly apprecated.

Tony That's interesting so far I have'nt seen any pictures of the F-105 having green wheel wells.  As for an aircraft named Young Blood I do not recall seeing one however I'll check my referances at home tonight and let you know.  Btw how does the Trumpeter kit look, I'm considering getting one.

Excellent Thud, BearBow [bow] I will be building a Trumpeter 1/72 F105D for a co-worker who was the crew chief for the "Young Blood" He was out of Thailand from the 13th TFS. The photos he showed me had the wheel wells interior green (I think, they were b&W pics) I can not make out the Numbers on the side, just "YOUNG BLOOD" under the left wing. Any suggestions on plane Nos.? I have looked all over the web and cannot find any reference to this particular plane.

Fearless leader, in a moment of nostalgia (read boredom) I paged through the entire GB thread.  My head hurt a lot after that effort....

Anyway, the point is I noticed Doom Grr has in fact finished a couple of builds.  On page 74, his #2 build the Crusader and one of his #6's (big tie) the AS-90 howitzer were completed and posted.

Just recognization where it's due.

Arki Thanks, yes I'm quite happy with how the camo came out.  Trying to figure out what ordnance configuration was quite fun, I do like Hasagawa's weapons sets they give you such a wide variety of options.

Bear, congrats on finishing Make a Toast [#toast]Bow [bow]! The 105 looks great, the SEA camo came out very well as did the ordnance.  You know, the F-105 isn't the prettiest aircraft by any means, but it does have a mean presence to it.

Well done Thumbs Up [tup]

Dave Thanks, Yes silly putty is my friend.  The CF-5 is from 433 Sqn CFB Bagotville.  I use to start, park & refuel them often when I worked transient serviceing at CFB Montreal.

And now the moment I've been waiting for these past 10.5 months.  I present to you Hasagawa's F-105D as you so voted.  The aircraft I bult was attached to the 357th TFS of the 355 TFW at Takhli RTAFB 1965 to 1969 or there about.

This kit was a piece of Censored [censored] certenly not what I've come to expect from Hasagawa never the less it was a great challenge and I learned and improved a few new technics so all is not lost.  Now I'm looking forward to In the Stash 08.

As a bonus here if a pic of my CF-5A that I started at the same time or so as the F-105D.
